Repeating falsehoods doesn't make them true
Absolutely true, why does the press do it so often? But CNN was factually, photographically proven wrong, hilariously so. It's failure to retract speaks volumes.

Yeh, lets get back on topic. Republican lunacy deserves a thread of it's own, CNN's blunder and subsequent churlishness does not.

What happened to the traditional Republicans? I would have counted myself among them if I was amerkin. This guy is one:-

    Off Course

Over the years, the Republican Party abandoned fiscal conservatism and walked away from social responsibility. They became an ugly blend of selfish libertarianism and neoliberalism. The values and ideals I learned to associate with the Republican Party seemed to vanish.

I tried the Democratic Party. I even tried on the Green Party. I just could not find a fit.

    Back to My Roots

Maybe the progressive conservative ideals I believe never existed in a political party? But when I look to the past, I find many examples of great leaders who have advocated for the values and ideals I believe. There may not be a party that represents my values and ideals, but
I can be the change I want to see in the Party.
I aspire to be a "Good Republican."

    Maybe I'm a lone Republican

    Republican — Jim Evans (jimevansforcongress.com)

Anyway, he ran for the 2014 elections as a Democrat- and lost heavily (it's one of the most staunchly Republican seats in the USA).
He challenged the Republican incumbent in the 2018 primaries, as a moderate or Eisenhower Republican- and lost, heavily.
He wants to go again, in 2021. Sorry Jim, but you're a lone true Republican in that Missouri backwater. Anyone seen Ozark?

The modern face of Republicanism, the incumbent that defeated him-

    Political positions

    Immigration

Long supported President Donald Trump's 2017 executive order banning entry to the U.S. to citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries.[21]

    Abortion

Long opposes abortion, stating he is "100% pro-life" on his website. He opposes the 1973 United States Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade and said that the judiciary deciding abortion's legality does not give the American people the opportunity to decide for themselves through elected representatives. Long said on his congressional website: "When the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in 1973, it threw open the doors for abortion without giving the people an opportunity to make their views known on the issue through their elected representatives. The judicial protection for abortion has unfortunately continued in opposition to the expressed will of the majority of the people." Long supports cutting federal funding to Planned Parenthood and is a member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus.[22]

Objections to the 2020 election results

After Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election and Donald Trump refused to concede, Long pushed baseless claims of fraud in the election.[23]
In December 2020, Long supported an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed at the United States Supreme Court contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election based on false and unsubstantiated allegations of fraud.

    Billy Long - Wikipedia

Onya billybob. As they say, in a Democracy you may not get he government you want- but you do get the government you deserve. Sigh.

    Why not?
If you think there's enough meat on that bone start a thread dedicated to it.
BM did on the other side but it backfired horribly.

Nice find Sabang. That man has the values of Eisenhower and most of the American people in the 50s. Eisenhower was the greatest post-war president inmo. During his presidency the rich were taxed at a nominal rate of 90%, and it was the period of America with the least income inequality as well as prosperity, he also warned about the military industrial complex.

The current monster that is the GOP is going to die a horrible death it will go the way of the Whigs and will be replaced by a new party.

There are still several in and out of government and although it will take time I believe they will win the Trump caused civil war in the current party.

When I became eligible to vote way back in the day, I registered as a Republican and remain so today. The reason as I reckon most new voters register for a party is because of parental influence. In my case, pop was a staunch Eisenhower supporter and what he had to say to me about good stuff Eisenhower did.

Although far too many folks simply vote along party lines, I don't no matter how difficult it may be. Trust me, voting for Hillary near made me vomit but was a must do. Trump won because Republicans came out and voted while far too many Dems sat on their hands. In my opinion blame Trump's win on a Dem failure. Their choice of candidates and their inability to get out the vote are to blame for the 4 years of damage Trump caused. A hard lesson in "elections have consequences".

So here we are today. Biased media espousing the virtues of their political sway and piling blame on the folks with opposing political views.

All and they labels of course must be used even though simply bullshit. None the less their compliant audiences eat the BS up. Btw, nothing new. This sort of stuff existed since forever in the US and other nations.

Even see it here in our wee TD world. "All" those (your guys here) are no fucking good! "They" deserve a good rogering in the ass!

Suggest all step away from the hate merchants and give a bit of thought to their BS messages.

    Koolaide comes in many flavors.

Just seen a vid of Mitt Romney being loudly booed by Trumpists during a speech in Utah.

Indeed I do. But apparently, in this 'take no responsibility' era, it wasn't their fault at all. It was Russian hackers! Which makes the Dems sound every bit as loony as the trumpistas.

Except that there was proven Russian interference in 2016 and the Trump campaign shared info with Russian Intelligence.

Republicans' are highly conflicted individuals to the point of sounding schizophrenic
They profess a desire for less government unless government supports their agenda, such as reproductive rights, religion, end of life, capital punishment, sex, etc, at which point government intervention is not only fine but highly desirable.

The GOP have conspiracy theorists, accused sex traffickers, people who covered-up sexual abuse and white supremacists in their ranks...

And they want to censure Liz Cheney for telling the truth.

That tells you all you need to know about the GOP today.

had this in the wrong thread.

As if we needed more proof that the Republican party is officially off the rails, GOP officials in Arizona are checking ballots under UV light, to see if there is bamboo in the paper. Their theory is, Democrats shipped fake ballots from Asia.

As is often the case, GOP politicians are playing the odds. Supporting Trump's big lie may be lunacy to some but is likely to earn them a majority in the house.

However, will do them no good in the Senate or Presidential race. In fact will hurt them.

Will throw in an early prediction. Dems will increase majority in Senate and lose majority in the House after mid terms.

I think that will be a matter of which party is best at activating their voters, especially the sleepers.

I'll throw in an early prediction as well. Dems will narrowly squeak by in the House, and lose the Senate. And in 2024 Tucker Carlson will be voted President. Because that's just how fucked up America is now, and it's too late to close the gate.
