    Gun control in the U.S.

The U.S. Gun Violence Archive says 147 mass shootings have occurred so far in 2021.
This is just MASS shootings (at least four victims).
Here are the stats for APRIL this year (so far)
Number of Deaths in 2021 | Gun Violence Archive

    What's the answer?
Obviously getting guns out of the hands of redneck hillbilly Trump supporters is a start but where do we start with that.
They believe it's their 'right' to 'bear arms'.
    Well ok.
A single shot long gun (rifle. I mean you have to physically cock the rifle for each round) with a 5 shot max magazine.
There you go. That's you arms.
No auto or semi auto rifles. No handguns AT ALL.
Even if you want a 5 shot magazine single shot then you have to pass a test and be licensed to own a gun and the gun has to always be registered to an owner. (if you sell it without transferring to the registration to the new owner you are responsible for whatever happens with that rifle)
A practical impossibility I know, but seriously, looking at the stat's SOMETHING has to be done.
“If we stop testing right now we’d have very few cases, if any.” Donald J Trump.

Torrel Jasper (35) poses with his firearms in the backyard of his house in Shreiver, Louisiana for part of a series called Ameriguns for National Geographic.

perhaps have a word with mr. jasper about your suggestion. he looks like a reasonable sort of "dude".

So sad to see all of these senseless murders, it seems every week or so now. I live in Canada, and we just kind of shake our heads. We have strict guns laws, of course mass shootings happen here, but not at all as much as in the good ole' US of A.

Stephen Wagner (66) - State College, Pennsylvania / THE AMERIGUNS - In the States there are more guns than people. 120.5 registered firearms for every 100 residents and the statistic doesn’t count not-registers firearms. As an European, I started wondering if owning many weapons by a single person or family is a common habit in the US. I travelled across the US and created a series of 45 portrait of families or single individuals, including all races and beliefs, together with their firearms.

See what happens when you close the mental health institutions. These people would be locked up in any sane society.

Change the 2nd amendment if you want to change the laws.

    Simple as that

    You don't need to.

You simply need to interpret it properly as intended: "A well regulated militia" as opposed to feeble-minded trumpanzees on the edge of a mental breakdown being able to amass a veritable armoury.

No need. Allowing people to have a single shot rifle would satisfy the second amendment.

'Well regulated' would be the problematic phrase there.

    But that's it.

No auto or semi auto and handguns are out.

To be honest I grew up on a farm and as a kid I had 22 I used to target shoot ad shoot birds (feel bad about that now) but I do like guns and if I was 'mercin I'd have a collection.

It seems ironic how the death of one convicted criminal who assaulted a woman in her own house with a gun, can draw more protests than the continual mass shootings of so many innocent people that must number in the thousands by now.
If Sandy hook could not trigger any sort of sensible gun control in the Obama Presidency with the needless deaths of so many children, nothing will. Guns to Americans are like crack to an addict. The only assured outcome of both is death. Biden at the very best will tinker around the edges. There are too many politicians who are owned by the NRA whom are more concerned with re election than the safety of their citizens and too many stupid Americans that think having guns makes them safer despite all evidence to the contrary. They need a President that gets up and says we need to ban guns. Obama or Trump could've and didn't and Joe certainly doesn't have the balls for it. The only certainty is more mass shootings amongst the thousands of non mass shootings which aren't even news any more.

The anti gun crowd thinks that a President can wave a magical wand and ban guns, as though that would get rid of all 380 million of them. Do you think people will just hand them over when the gub'ment comes knocking on their door asking for them? That horse has long bolted.

yes, but the argument that the US should do nothing because it's too hard is a stupid one.

Ya that is not going to happen but what you can do is create longer waiting periods, more extensive background checks and the requirement to acquire a gun license the same as everyone who drives a car has to get.

That wasn't my point. I was pointing out the naive thinking that a President can make all the guns go away.

I agree, and would even add that children should be taught gun safety in school.
