The International Court of Justice has ruled that Russia's counterclaim against Ukraine in the Genocide Convention case is admissible and has ordered both sides to submit their arguments.

・The Court dismissed five of the six objections raised by Russia, but also refused to consider Ukrainian claims regarding the illegality of recognition of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic and Donetsk People's Republic (self-proclaimed and non-recognised formation in Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts) and the outbreak of war on the basis of false accusations of genocide, as they, in the Court's opinion, do not apply to the Genocide Convention.
・Only Ukraine's claim that Russia has falsely accused Ukraine of a non-existent genocide, which may directly violate the Genocide Convention, will be considered.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is open to holding elections in Ukraine.
"Personally, I am willing and ready for this," the president said, according to reporters from the Ukrainian media Kyiv Independent.
Until now, Ukraine has otherwise maintained that according to the Ukrainian constitution, elections cannot be held as long as there is a war.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who has been in power since 2019, says he will ask parliament to prepare a legal framework that will allow elections to be held under martial law.
He says that an election could be held within the next 60 to 90 days, conditional on security guarantees being provided - that is, promises of help if Russia were to attack again.
US President Donald Trump has said several times that elections should be held in Ukraine. Most recently in an interview with Politico.
Correspondent: 'Quite extraordinary'
Elections in Ukraine are a demand that Russia has had throughout the war. And although the United States now supports that demand, it has looked the opposite in the EU, where it has supported Zelenskyj in following Ukrainian law and postponing an election.
And when Zelenskyj now announces that he is ready to think about elections, it looks like a helping hand in the midst of the difficult peace negotiations that are underway.
This is according to DR's Russia and Ukraine correspondent Matilde Kimer, who calls Zelenskyj's announcement 'extraordinary'.
"We must read it in the fact that it is an attempt by the Ukrainian side to show flexibility," she says.
"This is Ukraine reaching out and saying that if you can ensure security, then the political top, i.e. Zelensky, is ready to hold an election.
