Ouch!!
I take no view on the sexual misconduct allegations, but he was announced as Head of the Canadian Army- then his inauguration ceremony was called off at the last minute.
No, the salient point here is that now, just a few months later, he is a Russian POW! OMG.
He has been captured in Azovstol, while trying to escape pickle. Deal with it. I'm sure there are some pretty frantic diplomatic negotiations happening behind the scenes.
Disgusting discourse here as it is around the world. Predictable however. When it comes to war been like this since Cain killed his brother.
Meanwhile.. The Russians are killing and raping ukrainian women, bombing obvious civilian targets and the cause according to Sabang is the equivalent of someone saying, I'm sorry for hitting your fist with my face.
The sad fact is Putins forces will quite possibly end up with some stolen Ukrainian territory so they can exploit energy reserves there and may manage to permanently occupy Odessa. The good fact is that there is a good possiblity they will enter stagflation. The chances of financing their industries in the short or long term will probably be next to impossible. Their artificially inflated ruble cannot be supported by the Russian bank forever as it slowly runs out of foreign reserves. Their army will be a depleted force with most of its credibility lost throughout the world. As the europeans finally wean themselves off of Russian oil and gas will damage a large part of their economy. The worst for the Russians is yet to come. Russian flagged ships increasingly being embargoed together with lack of insurance from Lloyds will mean it will have to be underwritten from the govts dwindling reserves if they are to sail to the few ports in the world they will be able to dock at.. The long term effects of Russia being isolated from over $40 trillion of the worlds economy will see them slowly sink into a North Korean type of irrelevance in the world and many Russians will suffer, at least the Russians that cannot follow the Russian brain drain to the west, which has already started. Russian GDP is estimated to fall by 11.4% in '22 (world bank) and inflation estimates range between 7.8% to 30%. Russia is predicted to enter a recession for at least 2 years. Putin has totally misread the west. He will gamble that post war sanctions will be lifted I expect he will be mistaken. The west did not sanction him enough after Crimea due to an insipid President Obama.
Sadly a collective economic giant like the E.U. still needs the USA to lead and this is unlikely to change for at least the next 10 years. Whilst the USA cops a fair bit of criticism and at times rightly so, some of Europe and many other places like Taiwan would now be Russian or Chinese territory. Anybody that thinks the Chinese and Russians would be contained or constrained by trade alone from the west with an economically and militarily weakened USA lives in cuckoo land.
How exactly does this grubby gossip prove that Putin is winning the war? Your posts really are getting near the bottom of the barrel, and the position you have taken on this subject is increasingly shaky. Backspin normally deals in gossip, but there is a Canadian involved so he’s gone quiet.
How have you sunk so low?
At least you are being realistic! That's a rare commodity around here.Quote:

Turns out he was right on this one- I recall him mentioning some days ago there were some senior Nato types alleged to be holed up in Azovstal.Quote:

In your eyes, dear boy, by providing you with the news and analysis you do not want to hear- nothing more, nothing less. But as I have repeatedly pointed out, my posts are not really aimed at the Boneheads.Quote:

In case it has got lost in all the dross, Ritters excellent analysis again-

Are you going to post this same shit all over the forum? Desperate much?
You do insist on spamming every thread that offers an alternative to the 'approved discourse' of your beloved Biden administration snubs, so if something is worth repeating, I am well entitled to do so. Not like you repeat yourself much now, e'hhh? :spam:
I agree that you are entitled to be stupid. Just as those who oppose your views are entitled to look behind your faux discourse.
The west is also guilty of fabrication, but in the west, questions can be asked and fact can be checked. Such license is not permitted in kleptocracies. You claim to personal success in finance may be true or not. Personally I don’t much care either way, but when political leadership is at stake, I prefer to keep an open mind
The fact that you think Musk will have an impact on twitter is an irelevance. Twitter is not taken seriously by anyone with true perceptions of any depth. It is a puddle of very shallow gossip, not unlike your own opinions.
Please change your username to SoCal, thereby making it easier for your critics to point and snigger.
Bullshit. The sources I post on here are diverse and wide-ranging, unlike yours.
While I generally agree with your post, this one comment I take issue with. While Twitter is a cesspool of misinformation, it also is a useful tool when used correctly. One thing it is good at is monitoring real time events on the ground. For example, I knew about the missile strike that hit the train station a month back before it was in the news.
Also monitoring troop movements. Photos posted by advancing troops are easily verified with geolocation. I find that very handy to see who is advancing and retreating in this war. One of the reasons why I have been saying that the Russians are in a bad way in the north around Kharkiv.
First Noam Chomsky. Now Pope Francis, It seems increasingly I find myself in good company . At least as far as the Ukraine invasion opinion is concerned.
