    Derek Chauvin Murder Trial

The cop accused of killing George Floyd is on trial.

Derek Chauvin Trial News Updates: Charges, Jury Selection and More - The New York Times

Surely to be a shitshow on all fronts.

My wager is a light manslaughter charge and acquittal on most other serious charges.

And more riots at some point.

If he gets anything more than a manslaughter charge , he will be a political prisoner. I don't think he should be changed with anything really.

it wasn't manslaughter, it was a murder, and as such he should be found guilty.

floyd may have been an odious drug addled low rent criminal, but once handcuffed and on the ground he posed no threat to the policeman who coldly and calmly killed him.

chauvin has a record of violent behaviour towards those in his custody and i hope he is found guilty and punished for his crime.

I hope it's a short trial and he's found guilty. I see a healthy sentence, perhaps 15 years in the slammer.

This will no doubt top the news for a period to come. I won't be watching. Too sensationalist, not my cup of tea.

Putting your knee on someone who's resisting arrest , is a common practice in police work

If he gets anything like that, there will be mass resignations of police across the country

Excellent. There needs to be a clean out of the psychopaths in law enforcement.

    It's his usual bullshit, sadly.

People like that don't resign - they need the job waay more than the job needs them.

I just don’t see “murder” happening. He didn’t mean to kill him, even though it looked really bad. “Murder” implies intent, and that’s just not there. Floyd had heart disease, a fatal amount of fentanyl in his system, covid, and was resisting like a lunatic. Cause of death was his heart.

he wasn't resisting arrest, he had been cuffed, subdued and was on the ground, and obstructing a suspects windpipe for 10 minutes is not common practice.

chauvin is a violent madman, he should never have been in the police force in the first place, and i doubt he will survive for long once he is locked up.

It’s been clear for a while now that he didn’t die from asphyxiation or strangulation tho.

If someone dies as a result of your reckless actions, and you’ve shown a disregard for their life, that’s second-degree murder.

It’s also been clear for a while, that he wouldn’t have died if a reckless cop hadn’t kneeled on his neck for nearly 9 minutes.

Homicide, death by the hands of another man
also applies to the knee of another man

Guilty of murder will be the verdict. The court of public opinion will not accept anything less

Was he resisting arrest like fighting the cops hand to hand and running ? No.

Was he being shifty and uncooperative in that typical career petty criminal way ? Yes. If he wasn't playing that act, he would have been escorted into the car and that's that. It was a fluke that he died. No need to destroy this cops life over an unfortunate set of circumstances

Either you’re trying to be provocative, or you’re just plain stupid. (i’m guessing it’s a mixture of both.)
The cop had his knee on Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes, while he was in handcuffs. There’s was no “resisting arrest“.

Agreed. Justice is blind up until it becomes political, and then all bets are off. Fifteen years. (we are talking extreme here)

Petty criminals are always running their mouth when they are getting arrested. The cuffs are too tight blah blah blah. In this case, the yapping actually turn out to be true. How was the cop supposed to know that when he hears crying wolves all day ?

Here is the typical petty criminal trolling act which provoke these things. A whole 3 minutes of petty back and forth bullshit. This cop lost his patience too.

A little cooperation goes a long way.

I agree, I hope it is short. It isn't complicated. A man died and his killer must face justice.

Like you I shan't be watching as everyone with nothing better to do creates a theatre in which to shout out their personal agendas.

The American court system often seem beyond understanding. In this case however, my personal belief is that if anything swings it in the eyes of the jury, it will be that fucking hand in his pocket.

He's just so dumb that he will post screeds of dumb shit in this thread and then double-down on the dumb.

So unbelievably dumb that I don't even have to name him and everyone but him will know who I'm referring to.
