Sarah Everard: 6pm curfew for men proposed in Parliament by Green Party Baroness

Sarah Everard: 6pm curfew for men proposed in Parliament by Green Party Baroness-0_40337372-0-image-5_1615463692037-jpg

A 6pm curfew for all men has been suggested by a Green Party peer today 'which would make women feel a lot safer' following the disappearance of Sarah Everard in South London.

Baroness Jones spoke in the House of Lords during a debate on domestic violence this afternoon (Thursday, March 11).
She prefaced her proposal with the news of the abduction and alleged murder of Sarah which stirred up a lot of emotion on social media.
Many people, men and women, have been sharing their anger and sadness on different platforms and some have been clamouring for change.

As I have said elsewhere, the environmentalists and climate change gurus have prevailed upon society to accept that we have entered a new aeon in which mankind has become the determinant factor in the planet's geological evolution and have named it unofficially as the Athropocene Era. This of course is a misnomer, we are now in The Age of The Stupid.

Trump, Brexit, Bozo Johnson, the English underclasses and their deluded, etc are of course all examples supporting my contention but every so often an individual pops up and adds to the very grist of imbecility currently being ground out of the mills of our societies.

This Jones hag is clearly demented but that she is even offered a platform for her senility is perhaps an insight into just how systemic our stupidity has become.

The thing is, I lived in the metropolis of London for over a decade in the 1980s and never once did I walk home alone in South London after the end of peak commuting hours i.e 2100-2200hrs without some trepidation and always took the advice of my security colleagues to walk with purpose demonstrating that I was palpably not vulnerable, to carry my Yale keys in my fist and to ensure that I stayed in well lit pathways. In those days muggings, "steaming" and burglaries in London, particularly south of the river, were rife with the result many postcodes were uninsurable.

That this poor wretched woman should have walked alone for two to three miles at that time of night between Clapham and Brixton is almost beyond belief given its utter recklessness. Even me now, as an elderly man but still relatively fit and blessed with a rufty-tufty mien, I certainly would not have done it but would have hired a cab.

In any event, it seems the man responsible is a psychopathic cvunt and in the end chaos theory and opportunism will always provide targets.

I have to say, as soon as darkness fell, and when we lived in the Home Counties, I would collect the wingman from wherever she may have been. The world is a dangerous place and for a woman to take unnecessary risks, as this poor woman did, is simply just stupid.

Alas, as the Baronees Fuckwit Hag has so vividly demonstrated, stupidity is the leitmotif of our times.

Do you think she was being literal or trying to make a point?

The psycopath who did it, who is a armed policeman, was found collapsed in his cell with head injuries, treated in hospital and returned to custody (seemingly self inflicted).

It seems he flashed people at a takeaway four days earlier which was reported to police. Had they acted, he would have been disarmed and suspended, which means this may never have happened.

He is a married father of two which makes this even more bizarre,

^ he is also rostered to guard the US embassy in London, or was.

Do you think he tried to make like Vinnie Jone's character in X-Men in his cell?

The thing is, this was a strikingly attractive woman, particularly from a distance with her blonde hair, but if she wanted to stand out even more then she surely succeeded with her choice of clothes she wore the night of her abduction - she was dressed like a fucking Xmas tree from top-to-toe with vivid colours crossing the whole spectrum.

In the final analysis, everyone has a duty of care to themselves but it seems the victim was blissfully unaware of the risks she was taking.

It's a pity the good baroness has to use up the time of the House just so she can get her five minutes of fame.

This is an absolutely tragic case but I find myself aligned with SA here. In my uni days the then gf lived on Clapham Common and there were times when I had to move briskly along the Southside going to or from the tube. Never on the side of the common. I only took the chance then because I was young and lean and could run faster than most. As for walking on the common, after dark, neither I nor she nor anyone we knew would run that risk. In those days, and it might still be so, there was no prospect of getting a taxi from the West End to Clapham late at night. "Souff uv the rivva? At this time mate? You're avin a larff. No chance."

Times must have improved if a woman or even a man thinks it is okay to walk alone across the common in the dead of night. I have never done it and it is not on my list of things to try.

None of which takes away from the tragic fact that an innocent woman died at the hands of a stranger.

I believe you are right, the report I read said she was seen alone on a cctv in Poynders Road, after the common.

There is any number of ways someone could have got into a vehicle willingly at the request of a police officer.

I hope they will be looking at other cases of missing women in London as a result of this. There's no guarantee it's his first.

indeed. he had just come off duty guarding an embassy 3 miles away from clapham. he may have been in uniform and seeing a lone woman, stopped his car, shown his police id, and offered to drive her home for her own safety.

    really?

I agree with the first part. The stupidity at the moment seems to arise from the majority having a lack of their own opinions without following the herd - we seem to have a social media led woke vacuum.

We need difference to spark debate, but all the current thinking seems to encourage is repression of independent thought and falling in line with dull vacuous influencers. Its not looking promising.

    Outrageous!!
An attempt to blame the victim for doing what every free human been has a right to do,
One poster blamed her for walking alone.
another blamed the victim for being attractive.
Has your social order deteriorate to the point that you now need protection in the herd like wildebeest in the African savanna?
Have you reached such lows that your woman need to ugly up themselves and dress in crowd conforming gray uniforms as not to stand out to the predators in your society.
How much freedom are you willing to sacrifice to go unnoticed? How much of your humanity?
Instead of blaming the victim, you should be outraged, and demand that your authorities clean up your society of those predators, shed a tear for those who fall victim to them, and honor their sacrifice.
    Outrageous!!
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

    ^ BB exactly the point.

We seem to be ignoring that fact that people, gender aside, should be able to walk down the street without fear of being murdered, attacked or raped just because they are alone or deemed by aged muppets like SA, to be acting provocatively by walking alone and being a woman FFS.

A society that has allowed this mentality where women are afraid of attack just walking alone is at fault and that is what needs addressing not what the fuk she is wearing.

^If there is to be a curfew, it should be for everyone - men, women, children, LGBTQ+, etc. JMHO.

That being said, I don't walk on the streets alone after 9 or 10 pm. Just not a good idea.

In a neighbouring town, a female uni student was raped & killed a few years ago. She had just finished a group meeting/ project with her classmates. They parted ways around 2 am. She must have thought she was safe to walk alone, since her dormitory was just ~500m away. Along the way, she was abducted. Her body was found a few hours after, abandoned in a neighbouring village. It made quite a splash in the local news here. She was a good kid/ student, and was an only child.

During that year, two other students died. They were males who resisted giving their money/ cellphones/ laptops to the robbers. All those crimes happened in the early morning hours.

There's not much of an interesting debate to be had with idiots claiming our planet is flat. or with those claiming that it was created by a bearded old man who lives up in the sky..
