Changing of the guard; Democratic Senate 2020 and beyond

It is pretty clear at this point that the Dems will win the two seats in Georgia. So this is a new thread to discuss how all the changes that are going to take place now that the obstructionist GOP is no longer in control and the Dems have sweeping power over all three branches of government.

Thanks to the soon-to-be ex-cheeto-in-chief and his blathering about the faked election he handed over two Senate seats to the Dems on a silver platter.

I knew it would end badly the only regret that I have is the bastards stole three SCOTUS seats. Now at least we have the ability to push a replacement for an aging Stephen Breyer should he chose to retire. Also, no more shit GOP judicial appointments. That is done.

Narrow majority must be optimal for pork barrel politics.

I was thinking about all those 100's of vacant seats in the judiciary that Hussain left, was it maybe because he couldn't find Judges that don't honor the constitution? just a question.

Either you know the answer and are making a pathetic attempt at being facetious or you are as dumb as a fucking rock.

Although in fairness they are not mutually exclusive.

Yeah, it is a good question hey. Because Trump was so nontransparent, and basically put out lists of judges, and who was advising him, But Hussein sort of did it on the sly, if ya know what i mean.

A good write up here on the workings of a 50/50 split.

"With Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff winning Senate seats in Georgia’s pivotal runoff elections, the U.S. Senate is now poised to become a 50-50 chamber.

What does this mean for how the Senate will operate once the two Democrats’ victories are certified? Experts say there is no written roadmap that Senate leaders must follow. However, there are historical precedents that the two parties’ leaders will likely use."

    Much more here.

What it means, for example, is Bernie Sanders can demand the cancellation of student debt as a condition for supporting any Democratic legislation.

. . . similar to many other countries with coalitions - let's not forget that Bernie is not a Democrat, though he happily avails himself of the party's structure and services when needed.

    So, it's not a 50/50 split, more like 50/48/2

I am confused, isn't Stephen Breyer a liberal judge? how is that going to change anything other than changing one judge we know with one who we don't know? and ofcourse a younger one.

Yep and even if Bernie was a Dem no guarantee he would vote in support of majority.
Obama's Gitmo closure promise never happened because Dems in the Senate and House voted no way.

He is old. Now that the Dems have taken control of all three branches of government it is time to replace him with someone younger. We do not want another scenario like what happened with RBG dying a couple of months before the Dems took control back.

Precisely, he and King are the 'Kingmakers' (excuse the pun) far more so than the different factions within the Democrat Party.

Bernie is a loose cannon . . . wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him . . . which isn't far. (Not saying I don't like him, but there are reasons not to like him politically and that has nothing to do with leanings)
