I say buy. Its pretty simple. Lets just use the UK as a proxy. (But all countries basically count the same way)

So a 300% increase in the BOE's balance sheet = 2500% run in gold. Now lets see the BOE's balance and the other majors sheet today....

...avoid gold (and all other commodities) unless you know what you're doing...speculators are not necessarily wise investors...

    Ok Boomer

Gold is central bank reserves. Its not a consumed commodity. CB's don't have oil or pork bellies on their balance sheet

    Not financial advice, just opinion.
Buy, always buy gold; but not bitcoin just now, it might hit 30k but overdue for a significant correction so stand by for a better entry.

That's twaddle. Gold is saving. The thread is about physical gold. Not futures speculation. Tell us, what is the downside you see in gold ? If it is so speculative, tell us what the prospective downside price could be in 2-5 years..... ?

To the extent that gold is speculation then everything is speculation. You are speculating on the health of a bank or the fundamentals of a currency with savings deposits. You are speculating with any common stock or bond too.

    ...^from Investopedia:

    • In investing, risk and return are two sides of the same coin; low risk generally means low expected returns, while higher returns are usually accompanied by higher risk.
    • Risk and return expectations can vary widely within the same asset class; a blue-chip that trades on the NYSE and a micro-cap that trades over-the-counter will have very different risk-return profiles.
    • The type of returns generated depends on the asset; many stocks pay quarterly dividends, while bonds pay interest every quarter and real estate provides rental income.
    • Whether buying a security qualifies as investing or speculation depends on three factors - the amount of risk taken, the holding period, and the source of returns.

    • Speculation refers to the act of conducting a financial transaction that has substantial risk of losing value but also holds the expectation of a significant gain
    • Without the prospect of substantial gains, there would be little motivation to engage in speculation.
    • Consider whether speculation depends on the nature of the asset, expected duration of the holding period and/or amount of applied leverage.

You are bleating on as if physical gold is a penny stock.

What are the chances of losing all of your money investing in physical gold ? The chance is ZERO.

You are not speculating when you are investing at the very bottom of the financial pyramid. You are saving.
