It is brought to my attention when I walk down the street & harrassed by little chilren begging, when I use a cashpoint & trip over some dude with his hand out, when people are being laid-off or contracts cancelled because the going rate for a job's halved, I see the problems, first-hand, every day & it's all over - all - the newspapers because it's the topic on everybody's mind - if you're the one being affected by them.

There was an announcement in work not to walk through a certain part of the town centre at night any more if you're on the late shift. They are doing this on the back of some of the softer side of the workforce being mugged at knifepoint by Romanians. I know who they are because they are who I buy my weed from. There are genuine concerns by good, genuine people who aren't what you guys sterotypically call racist - or judged because we read a certain newspaper (that is discrimination & exactly what you're telling me not to do).

Forget throwing the Mail around, a very small portion of my knowledge comes from the newspaper, but a lot of interesting theads do.

As for what to do about all this mess? Shut the door, hang a No Vancies sign in the window, draw the curtains & wind down the Benefits Agency.

Well i think Clockwork orange makes a very valid argument. How he chooses to present his argument may not be as eloquent as some of you would like, but that does not make him wrong.
I have to question, if some of you who constantly flame him actually live in the UK? If indeed you do reside here, then such places as the leafy suburbs of Epsom really dont count do they?
I can only speak of the places i frequent. but where i work in Leeds we have an extremely large "minority" population, which i would say has tripled over the last 2 or 3 years. Almost every person i have spoken to in the past six months, has expressed a concern over immigration, some of these people are friends, some colleagues, and some complete strangers. The question is, are these people racists? I would say most certainly not.
Do we have a problem with immigration? Possibly, and this needs to be addressed.
Do we have a problem with immigrant gangs? Yes we do, but no more of a problem than we do with English white gangs, except perhaps the brutality thats dished out.
Do they integrate well? Not really no, but thats our fault as much as theirs.
So, what do we do about it??????

Firstly, nobody is "flaming" him. Secondly I don't think that anybody has said that immigration isn't causing a problem.

The fact remains however that CO (and the Daily Mail for that matter) presents a distorted and inflammatory picture. Unsubstantiated, melodramtic and emotive nonsense such as imagery of little old ladies being mugged for their pensions, all immigrants being on benefits, "race wars" and all the while totally ignoring the contributions immigrants do make to both the economy and society in general.

It's gross generalisation and none of which helps the issue in the slightest. All it does is serve to obscure it and create even further problems.

I lived there Stroller, I was very close to the subject, my "Xwife" got a fraud visa based on her "Marriage" to me to come to the states, and as soon as she got off a bus, went to social security and signed up for her $300 a month, got on a bus and went back south and got a cousins car, went to Ensenada and smuggled a daughter across on the cousins kid birth cert., then ran a $6000 bill up at the ER in our local hospital when her kid broke an arm, drawed illegal $300 a month from SSA for over a year before they would believe me that she did not qualify. Plus drawing welfare because I would not let her and her kid live in my house..

And since we are comparing notes, I was a (legal) immigrant to the UK, so I also know what I am talking about, though this was a long time ago.

Still, politics and statistics are a different matter, and one does not need extensive personal experience to challenge some of the prejudices voiced here.

England was fucked well before the latest influx of immigrants turned up, but the immigrants serve several functions, one of which is to focus the hatred of the population and keep their eyes off all the corruption being carried out by the government in the name of the population and for which the taxpayer genarally picks up the bill.
When it comes to divisive politics the UK is a master of it, keep 'em dumb and keep 'em angry, hey if it ain't broke don't try and fix it.

They favor free health care, driver's licenses, in-state tuition to state universities, free tuition in California community colleges and other measures that will encourage more illegal immigration.

Is it responsible to reward those who have broken laws with benefits while cutting programs that negatively impact American and legal immigrant families?

Immigration advocates claim that illegal immigrants are needed to boost California's economy. If this were true, why is it that California, the largest illegal-immigration-receiving state, is experiencing its worst budgetary deficits? The truth is that jobs that illegal aliens are holding in California are still performed by many poor Americans in states that have low levels of immigration.

California still has millions of low-skilled unemployed or underemployed legal residents, able-bodied welfare recipients, and nonviolent prison inmates. Why not give incentives to them to fill those positions? Why continue to spend billions every year to provide services to illegals?

But as far as this copied, it is wrong that tax payers pay for education, they don't,, that is payed by property taxes on homes and real property..

There are many cases of this. People have to realize this. Non-Americans just don't understand these things that are going on.
