Whew . . . I find myself in disagreement with Ant in some points here and in . . . agreement with Hugh.

The US is certainly not the shining path to what a democracy is, for a closer version of that you'll have to look at most of western Europe, Oz and NZ where the political scene isn't dependent on wealth and reliant on two parties, the health system may be faulty be but it is there and doesn't send you broke if you need eppi pens or asthma inhalers.
Th economic system is also far more social (to Americans that's socialist/communist) as education is acceptable and mostly free, in several cases including university.

Having lived, gone to school and Uni and worked in the US it is indeed a great place . . . but not a great place to have to stay and be bound by their society, especially if you're not among the wealthy or middle class.
I don't count myself as being in the 'boomer' generation, I think I just miss it, but they had a massive job to do after what the generation(s) before them did to the world.
Wars are intentionally set. Things like water/air pollution were accepted and horrendous byproducts of economic development and many were ignorant of the results - and 'boomers' and the following generation(s) worked toward addressing this.

White privilege. I acknowledge it. I have benefited from it without asking or playing on my ethnicity - everyone who has lived and worked outside of predominantly Caucasian countries has. Did it help me get jobs or contracts with US or European companies IN the US or Europe? No, I don't think so. Outside? Yes, definitely.

It's not a bad thing accepting that white privilege exists and that some/many of us have benefitted directly or indirectly by it. Should we feel guilty about it? Nope. And Nope, I don't feel guilty about it and that isn't the point anyway.
Do I play on my ethnicity at work? I try not to.

Do others, of a different ethnicity, treat me differently (better) because of it at work or to get contracts? Probably, but that's a whole different kettle of fish which would also be worth discussing.

Hugh: As you have never lived in another country

    PH: Of course he has

In that case. I stand corrected. A thousand apologies.

^^ Agree with all points made there PH. I think what is lacking, to our Wokesters, is the Guilt factor. Try as I might, damn- just ain't there.

I too am a kind of demographic cusp dweller, in the modern somewhat b/s scale. I'm certainly much closer in age to an average Gen-Xer than an actual post war Baby boomer, spawned by horny soldiers. But I'm slightly on t'other side of line so there ya go, boomer.

nobody is asking you to feel guilty, acknowledging white privilege does not require that.

Actually I for one would be fascinated to hear how it's really white people that still bare the stigmatism of racism and bigotry. How they're the real victims of everything.

Please share how as a white male you've suffered under the yoke of oppression. Specific examples would be good.

    Northern European? Icelandic?

    ---

Us? ... without going into to much detail, we have a Family Tartan

    ---

Combining a few themes, I've never met an Eskimo/Inuit, but traveling in Scandinavia I met a couple of Icelanders.

WOW ... they'd make me look positively tanned.

This is an interesting read ... How Race is made ... How Race is Made

    Below is a sample ...

"After thousands of years in Central Asia, the Dravidian Albinos returned to India at about 1,500 B.C, today we call them Aryans. By now they were in the millions, and they returned to India as avenging invaders."

Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

No, it's not interesting and it appears to be complete nonsense.

My first "job" I was 13 yo the old man took me to a property to clear brush, we got $11 for the days work. I wanted to spend it on the KISS concert ($13) in Sydney, But the old man said nope. The next "job" was picking oranges in western Sydney (a pushbike ride) that was after we collected golf balls on the weekends and after school and saved up to buy the pushbike (2nd hand off-course). Then at 17 i got a real job, (working in a supermarket) and riding my pushbike to and from till i saved the $500 to buy my dream car that was a LC GTR XU-1 that was rolled over and left in a parking lot by the owner, (dad and i got it registered) then the old man had to move away and I stayed in Sydney to be with the gf, rented a small flat. Lost my job and went to the 'DOLE office" as we knew it back then, I looked through the jobs available and picked one i knew i could do, took the card to the desk, the lady said "this job is only for aborigines". SO that's my white privilege in a nutshell. I went to a different (county/town) to find my next job and had to move to be able to afford the fuel bill.
