...obviously not a student of Darwin:

Man, 37, who died from coronavirus had dismissed pandemic ‘hype’ on Facebook

    by Andrew Naughtie
    July 13, 2020, 4:23 PM

    Richard Rose

An Ohio man who died of Covid-19 had repeatedly posted on Facebook about his scepticism of the outbreak – and a tweet containing a montage of his posts is now going viral.

Richard Rose, 37, died at home in Port Clinton on 4 July just days after he tested positive for Covid-19. The montage of his posts spreading on social media, which has been viewed 3.5 million times, shows that he tested positive and was quarantined on 1 July, when he was already viewing symptoms.

After telling a friend he had no idea where he contracted the disease, he posted on 2 July that “this covid shit sucks! I’m so out of breath just sitting here”. That is the last post featured from before his death.
However, it is Mr Rose’s earlier posts that have drawn the most attention.

Along with checking in at crowded venues, Mr Rose had posted criticism of the Black Lives Matter protests following the killing of George Floyd, calling the movement “a joke” for supposedly inciting violence while posting the pro-police slogans #BacktheBlue and #ThinBlueLine.
Mr Rose also mocked Islamic face coverings and shared a meme dismissing the mainstream media and mocking the idea that gender is non-binary while saying “Trump 2020!”

Alongside these, he dismissed the risk of the pandemic, saying “I’m not buying a f***ing mask” and that “I’ve made it this far by not buying into that damn hype”.

“I’ve gotten sick of turning my tv on to political smear ads and shit about COVID,” he wrote in another post. “So yesterday I turned my cable box in. I’ve also started snoozing people on here. It’s time to block out negativity.”

Speaking to local media, Mr Rose’s friend Nick Conley said “It’s horrible that we lost Rick but the even more tragic part of that is who else became infected because of the actions that he chose.

“I know a lot of people that haven’t met someone that they know of that has been diagnosed with the virus and I wanted people to see it was real and my hope is that people will see that this does happen and people will be more cautious.”

Facebook and other social media platforms have come in for stinging criticism over their slowness to aggressively tackle coronavirus misinformation, including baseless conspiracy theories that the virus is fake or was deliberately manufactured, unfounded claims that it is caused by 5G infrastructure, and ineffective or dangerous “cures” peddled as alternatives to orthodox medicine.

Ohio, meanwhile, was one of the first US states to impose lockdown measures, with Republican governor Mike DeWine taking action even before the state had reported any cases. Many of the measures have now been lifted; however, the governor is reportedly considering county-by-county control measures as cases start to rise again.

...another tRump voter bites the dust:

US man, 30, dies from virus after attending 'COVID party'

New York (AFP) - A 30-year-old man from Texas died from the new coronavirus after attending a "COVID-19" party hosted by an infected person, a doctor has revealed, underlining the risk to younger people.

Jane Appleby, chief medical officer at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, said the man thought the virus was a hoax, despite it killing more than 135,000 people in the United States so far.
"Someone will be diagnosed with the disease, and they'll have a party to invite their friends over to see if they can beat the disease," Appleby said in a video broadcast by US media on Sunday.

"One of the things that was heart-wrenching that he said to his nurse was, 'You know, I think I made a mistake.'

"He thought the disease was a hoax. He thought he was young and invincible and wouldn't get affected by the disease."
Appleby said young patients often do not realize how sick they are.

"They don't look really sick. But when you check their oxygen levels and their lab tests, they're really sicker than they appear," she said, calling on people to take the risks seriously.

The Trump administration on Sunday again pressed for full school reopenings in the fall, even as resurgent coronavirus infections -- many of them blamed on younger people -- and a record spike in cases in Florida raise further questions about the country's efforts to quell the disease.

The United States has by far the world's highest caseload and number of deaths.

If only the assholes like this who call the rest of us sheeple for following guidelines got sick and died. Unfortunately, one way or another, the rest of us will suffer from their willful ignorance.

The reaction of some people in the US to the virus seems unique and very, very odd.

If Thais were refusing to wear masks as it was an infringement on their liberties, or spitting at shop assistants in seven eleven, then imagine the reaction on here from sclerotic retiree racists in Yorkshire about 'typical chicken head morons' and the like.

He was certainly not a rocket scientist, but then again how many of us are?
He hitched his cart to the trump train and it led him to his death. His blood is on the fat boys little hands.

Massachusetts has tested for COVID and asked who among those tested were Floyd protesters. The results were 2.5%. They reckon it was because those protests were aware, handed out sanitizer, required masks, and had anyone with a fever to stay away.

A hundred years ago if one wanted exposure to life within an unfathomable belief system, in lands whose traditions seemed completely foreign and opaque, one might travel to Mandalay or Angkor Wat.

Nowadays it seems to be 'back home' for some of us.

the picture i posted was of a protest in seattle. most people in the picture are white. little if any social distancing can be seen, and that is the cae with most of the protests around the world. some isolated pockets of social distancing were seen, and photographed, but in the main the protests were crowded with shouting singing and lots of bodily contact.

similar behaviour has been seen on beaches and in bars and pubs around the world.

nothing racist at all in my posting of that picture.

I don't even think it is legal to ask such question, could you please provide a link to where you saw that?

As I said I could not believe that a question about peoples political activity would be required during a civid 19 test and I was correct.
This result were not from the testing of the general population in Massachusetts, where everyone was asked if they took part in the protests and those who answered in the affirmative only had a 2.5% positive rate But rather :

"More than 17,000 people took advantage of free COVID-19 testing offered last week aimed for people who had attended Black Lives Matter protests. "
I wonder how many of those said that they took part in the demonstrations so that they can get a free test?
I also wonder how many of those tested who were actual protesters were representative of the overall BLM protest crowd and not of the part of the crowd that was concerned about the virus enough to be tested, and as such also took precautions during the protests ?
In other words, what percentage of the looting, violently confrontational close contact crown was concerned with their safety to get tested, as opposed to the more conservative peaceful crowd.
If the assertions I made above are correct then 2.5% positive result of the 17,617 tested under the initiative. are not representative of the overall BLM crowd.
Am I making any sense? If not how?

Well, a quick proof read before posting would help.

But I agree...that claim looks dodgy.
