...agree: and as a huge cultural change from the Fall of Rome days is unlikely, Italy should consider evolving into an enormous museum with beaches, food courts, alpine adventures, and crumbling Tuscan villas for the Brits...governing themselves just isn't in Italian DNA...

Why so much speculation on other countries leaving the EU? Some sort of attempt at justifying the UK position?

Many Italians enjoy the freedom to work in other EU countries and avoid the low wage, high tax problems of working in Italy. It would be a big leap in leaving and I doubt it would solve their problems.

    OMG!

Never mind, I'm sure SA will be along shortly to explain clearly and concisely why only fools might ever consider leaving the EU.

Not even the Greeks were dumb enough to quit which pretty much shows you just how stupid the lower end English trash truly are.

This "Italeave" speculation is of course born out of the febrile mytherings of just another marginal septic snake oil merchant peddling his dubious wares in the market place patronised by the stupid, the deluded and the merely frazzled, constituencies so well represented here on TD.

One would wish the cut 'n paste merchants would be more discerning with their source material.

    That's a capital B to you...

Italy is split down the middle re-EU at the moment; this is not new, it has been building for a long time. Funnily enough, as the Yermins always worried about, the Italians I've spoken to are more upset by the French posturing of wannabe N than they are of any other group; and, Italians hate the huge farming subsidies that France get and the Italian farmers do not get at the same pro rata level. Also, comments such as the Italians would rather the Yermins look after their money for them are... ridiculous...

The Yermins soon to take over the EU totally and set all the financial agendas while controlling the ECB, well, let's see how the Italians, French and Spanish deal with that.

French elections coming up, and the French people want, at the very least, significant reform of the EU - that's not gonna happen with the Yermins 7th Reich stretch starting soon.

I do not get a flying fuk about whether Italy stay in the EU or leave.

Certainly seems so . . . 'well, look at everyone wanting to leave, so Brexit is good and right' with the continued jabs at Germany due to feelings f inadequacy of a second rate smelly isle mentality.

Italy has nothing else as it is being propped up and has security being part of the EU - their position is very different from the UK where the whole Brexit issue was political in nature. Political as in politicians benefitting, not the people.

    As Troy quite rightly said:

Though talk of Italy quitting is nonsense, I'm not sure about that.

The EU has become a bit of a scapegoat rather than a saviour in much of southern Europe since the Greek debacle.

Government rhetoric against migrants and minorities hasn't helped.

    Sound familiar?

BREXIT is bonkers, but we don't have to pretend everything is rosy in the EU garden.

You may find the news section is full of American propaganda links to websites, and all those sites shouldn't be allowed in any section.

Saying that the Russian sites post some good stuff.

It's always been a scapegoat for all ills . . . far more in the UK than elsewhere, to be fair. I'd suggest, and I could be wrong of course, that the Greek debacle isn't really mirrored elsewhere to that extent but it did serve a sign that the the EU will prop up a country if it needs it.

    True on all points.

I also know quite a few Germans and Dutch who would be happy to leave the political union and simply go back to an economic one but know that the EU, as it currently is, benefits them more than not

Issues would exist with or without the EU for a number of countries within it's familiar circle, yet made much more complex being forced to being dependent upon.
The only states that have benefited, whatsoever, is the creator of this monstrosity - Germany and France [perhaps the agenda from the start].

The article illustrates various EU concerns, German political stagnation, variable virus management differences, closing the borderless EU's national borders and Italy being abandoned.

The Greek electorate voted to leave. The Greek PM took the EU shilling.

The EU prop was a bailout which went to it's debtors, you can guess who they were. Along with financial management that has destroyed Greece.

In fact, you are a small (but true) sample of an "endless propaganda": It has to be trumpeted on every step (post) who is right (not stooopid) and who is not right (very stooopid).

Of course, it is to be assumed that the ones who read your propaganda do not have their own brain to recognize who is stooopid and who not.

I don't know how countries like Italy and Greece ever got in, they are mostly black market economies who don't pay taxes and historically expect Europe to pick up the slack.
