    Cultural appropriation

    Cultural appropriation

Cultural appropriation, at times also phrased cultural misappropriation, is the adoption of elements of one culture by members of another culture. wiki
This was in the news again recently.

Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Little Mix's Jesy Nelson have all been accused of cultural appropriation for wearing some form of braids, cornrows or dreadlocks. Model Nikita Dragun is the latest person to come in for criticism, after she attended New York Fashion Week with braided hair. BBC
Are you against this so-called cultural appropriation/misappropriation? If so, why?

Do you think it's OK? Always? Mostly? Sometimes?

    Or is toffee your thing?

I could almost have laid money of Ant the crusader gamboling in on that little bit of chum thrown in the pond. Hilarious, the forums follower of cause celebre.

Oh OK, so you intentionally posted something dumb on a forum to have it called dumb and are now delighted with yourself over it.

    Well done... I suppose.

So you posted something dumb for attention, celebrated getting that attention, sent me a repo over it... and now you're whining.

I don't think you've really thought this one through. Your being stupid reflects badly only on one of us (hint: it's not me).

Erm you seem to be the one whining Ant, as usual. I just gave you something to get excited about. I couldn't give a flying fuk about someone getting all hurt over wigs, hairstyles or clothes but i know you do.

Now FaRT will be along later for you to display your cutting wit and repartee on your daily joust.

I say again, you being stupid isn't my problem.

And you are whining. You always do.

As soon as you posted those names, the thread should be closed. They are utter trash and anything that is associated with them should be banned.

Actually, I have no idea who two of those are. I've only ever heard of Kim Kardashian, and I know next to nothing about her. But they aren't the issue. The issue is/was the reaction to their alleged "cultural appropriation" and other such instances by others.

Pretty sure wiggers have been doing that kinda thing for a few decades now.

There was some white America-South-African teenager expelled or suspended from their school/uni for putting up posters 'Vote Jakob for African American student of the Year'. A bit like the Mobo awards in the UK, comes across as more than a bit racist. Albeit not against blacks, so it isn't classed as such.

Given we all come from Africa, can't we just put this behind us, Italians aside.

Rumor has it that he/she wants to return to the other side as a quasi-guy again.
Guess the original partial change over wasn't all that he/she was hoping for - nor was the needed attention.
FFS, pick a gender and go with it, Bruce/Caitlyn....

I take the view that a person who appropriates another’s culture is probably just bereft of personal ideas and inspiration. Look at it like a form of plagiarism.

does that cultural appropriation includes posting as a man while being really a woman or posting as a normal member while being a mod in reality?

and that poll has quite a few stupid choice, must have been done on purpose, or maybe not

slow day in the Mods room, Nerv ?
