    Minorities throughout history: denied jobs, education, access, human rights and even their lives based solely on their race;

    taxi: '...I was called some names at school, I feel your pain and share your suffering!'

    I too have grown up suffering the disadvantages of being born the product of mixed race parents.... I feel your pain Taxy, Ant and Barry. I always felt a "little different" to the others due to my jersey and guernsey ancestry... But life must go on.

    You think that's shameful? I found out I am part Welsh.

    Oh the humanity...

    The possibility of mixed parentage is neither here nor there but what is of the utmost importance is that they should not be closely related which sadly seems not to have been the case for several posters on this board.

    Cool, it was a general comment, so like I said you brought the subject of your ethnicity up (with your comically absurd claim of being the victim of racism ).

    “Trump is outsmarting......”

    Donald Trump commenting on Elon Musk:

    “Well — you have to give him credit. I spoke to him very recently, and he's also doing the rockets. He likes rockets. And -- he does good at rockets too, by the way. I never saw where the engines come down with no wings, no anything, and they're landing. I said I've never seen that before. And I was worried about him, because he's one of our great geniuses, and we have to protect our genius. You know, we have to protect Thomas Edison and we have to protect all of these people that -- came up with originally the light bulb and -- the wheel and all of these things. And he's one of our very smart people and we want to-- we want to cherish those people”

    Trump is outsmarting no one.

But there is a worse, inexorable trend and that is the steady increase of wealth held by a diminishing few at the expense of the majority who are squeezed evermore and are nothing other than debt creating machines consuming resources exploited by that tiny minority gathering riches beyond the dreams of Croesus.

    The weather is of course a red herring but clearly quite modish but in time a new fad will usurp this and we shall move onto something else.

    Davos nevertheless fulfils a function in that at least there is discussion and that cannot hurt.

    The right's seizure of the media and its manipulation by demagogues deluding the ignorant , the credulous and the merely stupid is to my mind the greatest threat to democracy, as so vividly illustrated by Trumpism and Brexit, and should be challenged for the contagion that it brings. No one would have ever imagined ten years ago, never mind thirty years, that an illiterate, incoherent and unstable oaf could buy his way into the White House, nor would anyone have thought a lying, corrupt, sociopathic narcissistic sexual addict would be PM of Britain but both were achieved by unscrupulous power-hungry rabble rousers deceiving the public by the dissemination of lies and a perverted dogma of unalloyed self interest peddled by tame organs of a corrupted Fourth Estate.
    Why would any normal person "blow the froth off a cappuchino"? Wouldn't they just order a latte?
