Prik has apparently decided ‘it’s all about Sunni vs Shia’ passes for insight.

Not easy to reach such heady heights of input and satisfy him.

Clearly the last thing he needs is the insight gleaned from quality journalism, now he’s finished the last page of his red top gutter sheet.

It's the US vs Shi'a at the moment.

The Sunni won't shed a single tear over the assassination of that slag.

In fact they weren't too pissed off at the bombing that led to the embassy protests either.

Well, you can go off on a far tangent. The resounding chant of "Death to America" has been a Tehran/Iran staple since the overthrowing of the Shah in 1979.

During the Shah's regime we were best buddy allies. I trained and schooled with Iranian military sent to the US for schooling.

The Shah was a ruthless dictator who did kill many, many of his countryman to maintain his power. In 1979 he entered the USA for cancer treatment. While in the USA the Ayathollah seized control. The Shah requested and was granted asylum in the USA. Extradition was requested and refused. Making Pres Carter the bad guy. "Death to America". The Shah did leave America - Panama then Cairo Sadat granted him asylum and he died in Cairo in 1980. My details are pretty sketchy so some my be incorrect but the gist of it is correct.

The Iranians took 52 US Embassy personnel hostage in an attempt to trade them for the Shahs return. Carter refused.

The chants of "Death to America" have been resounding ever since. Obama's return of seized Iranian funds and attempts to normalize relations did nothing to stop the chants of "Death to America".

This conflict has been going on for decades. It is unfortunate that Soleimani was not taken out earlier, he was a most adept purveyor of terrorism. He is no longer with us and the anticipated retribution may well escalate into a "war".

If, in fact, a war does occur only a regime change in Iran will end the conflict.

A far as "war" is concerned this is a case of David and Goliath. But, can't see how David could possibly win. The US military fire power cannot be beat. My personal opinion based on what I have seen.

We Caught Him in the Act': Trump Says US Did Not Kill Soleimani to Start War With Iran

"Speaking from Mar-a-lago on Friday, US President Donald Trump addressed for the first time the US airstrike that killed Qasem Soleimani, the head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force.
In his brief address, Trump indicated that he ordered the recent attack "to stop a war," stressing that his decision was not made to "start a war."
"Soleimaniwas plotting imminent and sinister attacks on American diplomats and military personnel, but we caught him in the act and terminated him," Trump said. "Under my leadership, America's policy is unambiguous to terrorists who harm or intend to harm any American. We will find you, we will eliminate you. We will always protect our diplomats, service members - all Americans and our allies.""

If the reports are true from Iraq the Iranian was in a car going to the airport at the time. Was he plotting with the driver? Unless the cars were bugged which "act" was "caught"?

    Another spokesperson;
White House Adviser: Soleimani Planned December 27 Attack That Killed American Contractor

"US National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien told reporters Friday that Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US drone strike the previous day, had planned the December 27 attack on a US base in Kirkuk, Iraq, that killed a US contractor.

O'Brien claimed in a conference call with reporters that Soleimani's killing in an SUV outside Baghdad International Airport on Thursday was authorized by the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF), a law permitting the US military to carry out attacks in undeclared war zones against al-Qaeda targets or organizations linked to al-Qaeda.

The adviser further noted that Soleimani had been traveling around the Middle East planning attacks against US military personnel and diplomats, including the December 27 attack on the K1 military base in Kirkuk that killed a US contractor. That attack set in motion a series of events leading to several thousand Iraqi protesters burning part of the US Embassy in Baghdad on December 31. The protesters, some of whom were from Popular Mobilization Forces militias linked to the Iraqi government, were angry that five US airstrikes on December 29 in response to the December 27 Kirkuk attack had killed 25 and injured 51 members of another PMF militia, Kata'ib Hezbollah.

The Iraqi government has denounced both the December 29 and January 2 airstrikes as violations of the country's sovereignty, as they were carried out without the permission of Baghdad. Lawmakers will convene an extraordinary session of the Iraqi parliament on Sunday in response to recent events, and are preparing to present legislation that would force US forces out of the country.
"We hope to have a good relationship with Iraq going forward," O'Brien said.
Earlier Friday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News Soleimani was the "orchestrator, the primary motivator" of an "imminent attack" against the US.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called Soleimani's killing "act of international terrorism."
"It was an extremely dangerous, foolish escalation ... He was the most effective force fighting against Islamic State and al Qaeda terrorists," Zarif told reporters Friday.
Soleimani had been the commander of the Quds Force, an elite unit of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He helped lead the war effort against Daesh in Iraq and Syria and was considered one of the most politically powerful and popular men in Iran.

In April 2019, the US State Department declared the IRGC to be a terrorist organization, with the White House saying at the time the IRGC "actively participates in, finances, and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft."

    https://sputniknews.com/us/202001041077936767-white-house-adviser-soleimani-planned-december-27-attack-that-killed-american-contractor/

As many are aware unfortunately some governments have "history" of lying about events. One must await the foreign countries proven evidence before any of the last illegal assassinations can be construed as not terrorist actions. An ameristani law which is illegal under the UN of which ameristan purports to be a member of is yet more mockery. Yet ameristanis even here on TD cannot see that being able to drop weapons on others illegally and "exterminating" humans and yet failing to win and wars in the last century indicates they are well and truly losers "BIGGLY".

    Another report indicating the worlds assessment of the current state of play. This appraisal by the "markets" internationally inclusive.;

US Stock Markets Fall in Aftermath of Iranian General Assassination, Troop Deployments

"US stock indices fell the day after Washington’s assassination of a top Iranian general, precipitating an international crisis that could lead to a shooting war. However, the stocks of US defense contractors soared.

As the closing bell rang at the New York Stock Exchange on Friday, the Dow Jones registered a 233.92-point drop, while the S&P 500 fell by 23 points and the Nasdaq by 71.42 points.

Late Thursday night, the Pentagon confirmed it had assassinated Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the elite Quds Force unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in an airstrike at Baghdad airport. The same attack also killed several leaders of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, the semi-official militias formed to fight Daesh who Washington has accused of being “proxies” of Iran.

“Geopolitical risks had really moved to the back burner. Last night was a wake-up call that they are a factor that we may need to contend with in 2020,” Chris Zaccarelli, chief investment officer at Independent Advisor Alliance, told the Wall Street Journal Friday.

Oil prices shot up by more than 4% Friday, with Brent Crude surging nearly $2.50 per barrel to $68.69 and West Texas Intermediate rose to $63.17 per barrel, amid fears of war in a region that produces much of the world’s crude oil.
Surging oil prices caused air carriers to slump as well, with American Airlines losing 4.81% of its value and Delta Air Lines 1.86%, and United losing 2%.
A poor report by the Institute for Supply Management, which supplies US manufacturing data, also hurt stocks, Marketwatch noted. The index hit its lowest point since June 2009, when the country was wracked with the economic fallout of the Lehman Brothers-precipitated economic collapse.

However, the stocks of several major US defense contractors shot up on Friday, with Northrop Grumman posting a 5.50% gain, Raytheon a 1.74% gain, and Lockheed Martin a 3.69% gain.
US Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced Friday that between 3,000 and 3,500 additional US troops would be deployed to the Middle East and US troops in Iraq have been placed on alert. US civilians in Iraq have been alerted by the State Department to leave the country."

    https://sputniknews.com/business/202001041077936344-us-stock-markets-fall-in-aftermath-of-iranian-general-assassination-troop-deployments/

To be accurate generally there was a large drop. Of course some companies in the MIC group, exploded higher.

Does that tell the world what ameristanis are famouse for?

In ending "hopes and Prayers" to all soldiers on the battlefield.

Georgian killed in Berlin was a murderer & terrorist, but ‘I don’t know what happened to him’ – Putin

The Georgian national killed in Berlin was a murderous terrorist, but Russia had nothing to do with his death, President Vladimir Putin said. He was commenting on Germany’s expulsion of two Russian diplomats.

Last week, the German government banished two Russian diplomats for insufficient cooperation with the police probe into the death of Tornike K, also known as Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a Georgian national gunned down in Berlin’s Tiergarten Park in August.

Asked about it after the ‘Normandy Four’ meeting in Paris on Monday, Putin said that to call the man a “Georgian” is not quite right, as he is not an ethnic Georgian and had in fact fought for the Chechen militants in the Caucasus.

“He was a militant, a very rough and bloodstained man,”
Putin told reporters, noting that he was wanted for an attack that killed 98 people, and was one of the masterminds of the 2004 Moscow metro bombings.

I don’t know what happened to him. He was part of a bandit environment, anything can happen there.

‘We see terrorists freely roaming European capitals’ – Putin on Chechen militant killed in Berlin
    19 Dec, 2019

“We see how such people [like this terrorist] are freely roaming the European capitals,” Putin told reporters at a Q&A event in Moscow on Thursday.
He was responding to a question about a Georgian national of Chechen origin who was assassinated in Berlin in August. German media identified him as Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, or Tornike K as the German authorities officially refer to him.

And what will happen if people who are currently sitting in [prison] camps [for terrorists in Syria] come to you? Would you like that? Would allow them to freely walk in your cities too?
Putin said there should be comprehensive cooperation between Moscow and Western states on tackling extremists. He reminded everyone that Moscow alerted the US about Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev before the brothers bombed the Boston Marathon in 2013.

We requested for them to be extradited [to Russia] and said they were dangerous. We were then simply ignored… And here you had criminals like that strolling through Berlin.”

Reputation from whom. Are you suggesting the childish name caller's here on TD opinion should be respected, reacted too, or ignored. Or are you one of TD's posters who revel in inane name calling and watching their 'greens and reds". There are few of those here.

I don't do "run ins". I ask, politely, for clarifications.

You have had two opportunities to let us, here on TD, know how your stated "opinion" was formed and failed twice to do so.

I will assume it was a simple error. Some here actually apologise if they make one.

Worth a green. Unfortunately being widely thought of here on TD, as a "bit of a nut job", my powder has been used up sending greens to unsuspecting idiots and just this evening, "terminated" by one of the "Bigus Dickus's" here. He can delay retribution and win a battle, but unfortunately fails repeatedly, at winning anything of substance.

    Maybe next time, "reputation" willing.

Perhaps the "sketchy details" should be extended by one detail more:
the Iran–Contra scandal, or simply Iran–Contra, was a political scandal in the United States that occurred during the second term of the Reagan Administration. Senior administration officials secretly facilitated the sale of arms to Iran, which was the subject of an arms embargo

    Thank you for the accolade.

As a child I was awarded many "badges" and displayed them at the appropriate occasions.

I've since matured and "badges" are of no significance. Other than the annual TIO's stamps in my passport, of course, they have actual value.
