Barack Obama: Women are better leaders than men

Barack Obama: Women are better leaders than men

    16 Dec 2019

If women ran every country in the world there would be a general improvement in living standards and outcomes, former US President Barack Obama has said.

Speaking in Singapore, he said women aren't perfect, but are "indisputably better" than men.

He said most of the problems in the world came from old people, mostly men, holding onto positions of power.

He also spoke about political polarisation and the use of social media to spread falsehoods.

Speaking at a private event on leadership, Mr Obama said while in office he had mused what a world run by women would look like.

"Now women, I just want you to know; you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you're better than us [men].

"I'm absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything... living standards and outcomes."

When asked if he would ever consider going back into political leadership, he said he believed in leaders stepping aside when the time came.

"If you look at the world and look at the problems it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way," he said.

"It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power."

Mr Obama served as US president from 2009 until 2017.

Since leaving the White House, he and former first lady Michelle Obama have set up a foundation mentoring young leaders around the world.

The pair were in Kuala Lumpur last week for an Obama Foundation event.

He turned out to be such a letdown; terrible and deceitful leader who just fed the swamp and pushed the globalist agenda. He should give his Noble Peace Prize back... He's just an all round wanker, imho.

    Sounds like he's trolling Trump.
"In my professional assessment as an intelligence officer, Trump has a reflexive, defensive, monumentally narcissistic personality, for whom the facts and national interest are irrelevant, and the only thing that counts is whatever gives personal advantage and directs attention to himself."

Yes, he is - hopefully not to promote Hilary as the next leader (maybe Warren as the top ranker female Democrat at the moment?).

Yep. Despite all the bullshit about "change", "hope", "believe" etc, he delivered nothing tangible other than an escalation of dirty war foreign policy, and the grotesque bank bailout.. Just another Trilateral Commission / Brzezinski stooge.

Not much difference among any of his predecessors or successor.
Especially as such applies to foreign policies.

    ^ & ^^ this.

Of course, his failure is worse because he promised so much, spoke so well and offered some optimism - achieved nothing but more of the same and paved the way for Trump... Of course, just like the remoaners in the UK (who could forget him flying to London and speaking out in support of the EU globalist billionaires...), the so-called progressives are in utter denial, blaming everyone and everything but themselves.

If it wasn't for him the US economy would not have been growing for 127 months which is the longest in American history. Myself and tens of millions of others most likely would not have health insurance. So it is nice to hear the opinions of you outsiders looking in but he made a difference for the better in the day to day lives of millions of Americans something that most presidents don't achieve.

Was he perfect? No far from it but he is the greatest president since John Kennedy and his current approval rating in the US reflects that. If he was able to run for president he would win in a landslide.

Alas, when you are the guy that signs an order placing into law the right for drones to kill anybody anywhere in the world for thinking about perhaps one day in future planning something against the US then 'outsiders' get the right to have an opinion...

Never said that you don't have a right to an opinion but to be clear Bush started those shit wars in the first place and far more died under his reign. I would take him over the Orange moron in the WH now any day of the week and so would most Americans.

Yes, I prefer him over Bush too - not a very big win for Obama there.

But, Obama was terrible, he just worked for his lawyer mates, globalist mates, used a horrible "American exceptionalism" discourse which was, at heart, as repulsively nationalist as anything Trump could say; his record is dire, he was a poor politician in a time when the world is full of them - it's not a hard time to rise above the mediocracy, but he failed to. Remember when he tried to be hard on Israel? The Israeli PM turned up in the US, said fuk u to Obama, and got endless standing ovations - Obama was schooled in his own country; dire Presidency. I thought/hoped he would be a great leader, but he turned out to be just more of the same...

as i posted, ignorance is not a virtue.

you clearly don't understand how the us government functions and the distinct rights given to each branch of government.

do yourself a favor and get better informed before spouting off....or if that's too much of a challenge....just stick to repeating the term "globalists" (gasp!) as many times as you can type it.

That's an interesting point Terrance makes: what are the Democrat party doing to win the next election? Are they bringing some good policies together? The way the party is split in a leadership battle before the election campaign seems a terrible idea because it's hard for them to create one unified message (and that'd be a good idea to do now against Terrance's mate, The Donald).

That’s what happens before every election though. Do you forget that Trump himself came from a field of approx. 50,001 GOP candidates.

Yeah, I know, it's a strange situation, and it's not gonna change, but it does present a problem because the message to the electorate is consistently changing between individual nominations then the party vote against the Republicans.

Maybe, this would be a good time for the Democratic Party (I hope that pleases Snubby...) to get together and either: 1) just don't have a leadership battle this time round, but choose one person and everyone get behind them, or; 2) The party agree some core policies which everyone will stand behind.

& Ray, Obama was still a massive letdown - stuck between Trump and Bush he may seem ok, but when he was elected there was a real feeling of optimism around the world, but nothing changed and his leadership on civilian drone killings should have him up on international charges.
