Why not let the Scots have their referendum? It should be up to them as long as they pay for it. Joining the EU will not be straight forward though and may require some drastic financial belt tightening before they can qualify to join the EU and the Euro and I believe it only takes one dissenting country to prevent a country joining which would be quite possible in the EU.
Do they have a plan B if they dont qualify or have a long time delay to join possibly years?
What about the thousands of Scottish expats who live in other countries on a UK passport? Will they be allowed to stay on a Scottish passport when their UK passport is revoked? Will their be a mass exodus from England Wales and NI back to Scotland?
Is the RB of Scotland financial viable on its own without support from th B of E?
Hopefully there is someone who knows those answers better than I.

Because when they had their last referendum, Alex Salmon SNP leader at the time, claimed it was a 'once in a generation opportunity'. They lost the referendum so let's give them 14 years more until a new referendum should be allowed.

I sure don't know but sure the list of questions is much longer after being in the UK for over 300 years.

    Its an odd conundrum Norts.

The Scots hate the English and don't want to be part of the UK as they want to stand alone as an independent country again and can then re-join the EU and have their newfound freedom governed by a new "master"

Strangely they don't want the Euro either but would like to keep the GBP. Jimmy Krankie is also very good at painting a picture of a land of milk and honey once they escape the influence of Westminster, but is unclear how she is gong to pay for all the promises she keeps making, i suppose its based upon funding from the EU given Scotland will not be a net contributor.

    Exciting times.

Should you rerun any election if you don't like the result?

The majority of Scots voted to remain in the Union.

No, but if a country wants to leave a union and there seems to be a majority they should have a democratic right to test that. Unlike the former soviet union that was basically a totalitarian state, where countries were forced into a union, the U.K is not.
The Brits vote for a new govt every 5 years. If the majority of Scots want a new referendum on independence after 7 years is it not their democratic right? It would take at least 3 years or more to extricate itself from the union.
We have seen that Brexit is a painful divorce and comes at a price but it is the will of the majority. Scottish independence will be an equally if not more painful separation but in a democracy the majority rules if the citizens are willing to bare the cost.
In the end the rights of the majority of Scottish citizens should be paramount. It is not a break away province of England but a separate country who citizens have the right to self determination which can only be tested by a referendum. Brexiteers of all people should recognise this.

There was a referendum. The majority of Scots voted to stay.

As was said, leave it for a generation. These fucking SNP pikies will keep dividing Scotland until they get another chance.

They should all fuck off back to Ireland where they belong, problem solved.

It really doesn't matter what outcome of a Referendum you a biased towards - thinking that there is not a call for another referendum after being pulled out of the EU against your control by another country is nothing short of stupid.

Forgot to post a picture of your sevco red hand of ulster loyalist flag while you wrote that.

Your religious politics and football rivalry divided Scotland and corrupted its voting system, not the SNP or the Irish.

Sturgeon is going to employ Trump to develop a wall solution to the border conundrum

Independent Scotland would need border with England, Nicola Sturgeon concedes

An independent Scotland would likely need a trade border with England, Nicola Sturgeon has conceded ahead of next month's Scottish parliament elections.

The Scottish first minister, who polls say is heading for another majority, said she would do what she could to “keep trade flowing easily across the border”.

But she warned that there would be challenges for cross-border businesses “because of the absurdity of Brexit and the Tory Brexit obsession”.

And in an article published over the weekend Ms Sturgeon warned that it would be undemocratic for Boris Johnson to block another plebiscite if the Scottish parliament carried a majority for independence.

“If there is a majority in the Scottish parliament after this election for an independence referendum, then Scotland must have the chance to put the recovery into Scotland's hands,” she wrote in the Observer newspaper.

“For the UK government to seek to block it would be unsustainable. For them to try to take legal action, as has been suggested, would be asking a court to effectively overturn the result of a free and fair democratic election.

“That would be an appalling look for any prime minister. More to the point, it didn’t work for Donald Trump and it wouldn’t work for Boris Johnson.”

The decision by the UK government to leave the single market and customs union has intensified the question of a post-independence border between Scotland and England.

^ its hilarious that Sturgeon has bleated about Scotland being forced out of the EU and its market by Brexit but she's happy to drag Scotland out of its biggest market and hasn't worked out the detail - the stupid bitch can't see beyond Nicola The 1st.

the combination of an unusually repulsive face, the never ending tsunami of hate filled rhetoric that spills out of her thin lipped mouth and of course that grating rab c nesbitt accent all make me want to punch the hectoring bint on the nose so she will stfu, if only for 5 minutes.

I think the tables should be turned. Why is it just those skirt wearing wankers get the chance to decide if they want to leave the UK, why can't those of us that pay for Nicola and the rest of the scroungers have a referendum and vote to kick them out or not?

Just to be clear, Scotland is not subsidised by the rest of UK.

If we were, you can't afford us and you would have already dropped us by now.

We pay our taxes to Westminster, more than we get back, so who subsidises who?
