Asperger syndrome may be more noticeable when a child starts school. The following behaviours may be present in childhood or adulthood:

    • Finding conversation difficult

    • Not understanding concepts such as turn taking and sharing

    • Showing a lack of empathy for how other people feel

    • Seeming to be introverted and preferring to spend time alone

    • Preferring routine and becoming upset when routine is disrupted

    • Having little imagination

    • Difficulty making friends

    • Delayed developments of motor skills e.g. finding it hard to use cutlery

    • Poor handwriting

    • Understanding and being able to communicate, but misunderstanding elements of language such as changes in a person’s tone of voice

    • Having very specific interests that other people may see as excessive or obsessive

    • Having some sensitivity to noise, light etc

    • Experiencing ‘meltdown’ when feeling overwhelmed

    • Feeling anxious and displaying signs of anxiety

    Impact on daily living

Some children and adults with Asperger syndrome may experience difficulty with daily life such as:

    • Schoolwork – some people find education difficult, due to classrooms being busy and overstimulating, teachers being unable to provide additional support, difficulty with learning new things and writing

    • Overstimulation – too much noise, visual input or social pressure can cause a person to become overwhelmed

    • Feeling lonely, anxious or isolated – some people find it difficult to connect and communicate with others which, combined with having a different understanding of the world, can lead to feeling anxious

They may feel as though they do not understand the world, and may find that other people around them do not understand them. There is a lack of understanding about Asperger syndrome and autism in general, and this may make it difficult for someone with the condition to be accepted.

People with Asperger syndrome do have a valuable contribution to make to the world though and many people believe that if society was more accommodating of people that are considered to be ‘different’ then they would have a greater sense of wellbeing. Many of the behaviours that Asperger syndrome causes can actually be really positive, for example, the ability to focus on one particular topic, activity or hobby intently is not a bad thing and can lead to a person developing an excellent skill.

You may find it interesting to read real life stories to understand how some people are living with Asperger syndrome, for example, this story from The National Autistic Society about a person diagnosed in adulthood, or Sarah’s story on the NHS website. The YouTube channel ‘Invisible I’ from Katy Gough, a young woman with Asperger syndrome may also be of interest to you.

The poor girl is being manipulated by her puppetmasters.

    Greata Thunberg: sailed solo across the Atlantic;

yes, with the help of a monte carlo tax dodging industrialist, a film crew that flew back to europe after the trip, and a carbon fibre yacht that used more resources to build than 10 transatlantic flights

hey pxss, still collecting, using and polluting the air we breathe with your gas guzzling chest wig chariots whilst supporting saint gretas crusade to improve the planet for our children.

oh the hypocrisy, the delusion, the ignorance and the stupidity. you couldnt make it up.

An "unbalanced child with mental disorders" is not the correct terminology. Nor is "drama queen"; "emotionally unstable" or whatever else you want to denigrate her with and you're still not qualified or placed to make those determinations.

So do you actually have any issue at all with what she said about the actual issue (which is climate change, by the way) or is it all just fully about her / the way she said it / how she looked when she said it / her hair that day / what she was wearing / what you think of her mental state / etc. etc... ?

Cos this is getting quite boring.

Slightly off topic but Trump is right in that the 'Paris Climate Agreement' is a fraud/scam.

    I do.

This is the Greta Thunberg thread.

The Climate Change thread is elsewhere.

Let's see Ant talking about Greta:

How many of the posters on this thread have a daughter that they raised through the age of 16 and then on up into a young woman? You just might know what is being felt by those that have.. Female hormones at this age are something in themselves that can be hard to deal with. Head strong would be a very mild way of putting it. Especially if they are clever and have a predilection for reading.

Enjoy, I am tuning out as bnub did as now its getting way out of hand.

    Malena Ernman
    that's the spoilt childs mum.

Before Greta Thunberg was making headlines as a teen environmental activist, her mother, Malena Ernman, was their family's biggest celebrity.

Ernman is a mezzo-soprano who began her career singing in operatic productions in Sweden before taking on roles in major European opera houses, including the Berlin Staatsoper, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and Theater an der Wien. An accomplished crossover artist, she represented Sweden at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, singing "La voix."

Eventually, her daughter's activism convinced Ernman to curb her performances abroad due concerns of the climate effects of aviation.
these people are just obsessive attention seeking manipulating self promoters. but in the new world of facebook, instagram and twitter it doesnt take much for a holier than thou belief to become a cult. the way this pathetic and damaged child has been adopted and worshipped by the vested interests that seek to profit from her "me me me" bleatings, and the bovine masses whose empty lives are spent clacking away on their "devices" is ample proof, as if any were needed of the ease with which once sensible people can become indoctrinated by wild fantasy.

popes and other religious and tribal leaders subjugated the populations in medieval times with their pronouncements and fear-mongering, and now it is happening again. only this time we are in awe of a gawky 16 year martyr, who is without any doubt, a few fries short of a happy meal.

    god help us all.

Always find comments like this weird.

Some people seem to think it's impossible to be a socialist or an environmental activist without living in a cave and wearing palm leaves for shoes.

Maybe because if their targets did this then said people would have ammunition?

Some people seem to think it's impossible to be a socialist or an environmental activist without living in a cave and wearing palm leaves for shoes.
its more a case of her and her acolytes targeting western countries that are genuinely trying to find and implement ways of reducing their carbon footprint, rather than the big polluters such as china, india, africa and russia.

i dont buy the "you had your industrial revolution, so its all your fault, now let us have ours" schtick. the whole world has benefited from the industrial revolution and over the next 50 years technology will advance and we will have energy and transport systems that do not pollute or at least pollute minimally and food products grown industrially from stem cell and gene development and alternatives to plastics and the need for the heavy metal mining that all our fxcking devices need.

but there will be no mass extinction of humanity in the next 20 years as she predicts, at least not from climate change, and to demand and implement the dismantling of the present systems of production, trading and transport within the next 10 years will only lead to poverty, uprisings and death.

she and her shadowy promoters are nothing but extremists of the worst kind. she needs to stfu before the malevolent anarchist activists and the easily led and impressionable zealots that follow her lead us beyond the point of no return.
