Pretty laughable that a 16 year old girl has a bunch of wingnuts wound up all over the world. When one takes a step back and looks at those who are attacking her she looks more and more like the sane one all the time.

The big joke is that climate scientists, you know, people who have spent their careers studying this phenomena and are saying the exact same message are largely ignored, while we are all supposed to sit up an listen when the same thing is said by an uneducated petulant child.

    Colour me confused.

The whackjobs will whackjob and continue to dismiss what the science says cos they saw a vdo on Youtube one time but the thing of it is people actually are sitting up and listening. Like her or not Thunberg has brought attention to the issue.

Another voice can't hurt and nor can mobilizing the yoof (AKA. Voters of the Future) to put a rocket up politicians.

^^Obviously her youth makes her life more likely to be seriously affected.

Thus her arguments carry more force.

And she's right...she's one of the betrayed in a way that you and I are not.

Did you find Al Gore hit harder?

In a video, a man describes himself as "a middle-aged man with an embarrassing problem", becoming "irrationally angry at a Swedish girl who wants to save the planet".

"If you're a grown adult who needs to yell at a child for some reason, the Greta Thunberg Helpline is here to tolerate you," the narrator says, adding, "It's okay. We understand that children acting like adults can make adults act like children."

"She's just fueling needless anxiety and making the end of the world sound like it's the end of the world!"

"We'll listen no matter how ridiculous you sound."

"Have you considered launching your own global movement?" "But it's so much easier to shit on someone else's."

"The Greta Thunberg Helpline: because when it comes to climate change we all know she's the real problem."

    That's very well done.

Some well known people who have Asbergers syndrome. Anthony Hopkins, Dan Aykroyd, Stanley Kubrick, Andy Warhol, David Byrne, Tim Burton, and Daryl Hannah. Much more common in males than females..

I'd just as soon see a bunch of fired up kids who care. Better than the types that put Trump and Boris into power, dont you think?

Read a piece about kids breaking into sport's teams a week or so ago, and the impact it often has later on in their life, setting the first team minimum age as 18+ was put forward. Something I'd agree with.

So you do care about the welfare of the child?

But consider it fine to put a child with emotional instability and a mental disorder in the global limelight in a manner that will likely lead to them being globally mocked and jeered?

What are you on about? She is 16 years old. When I was that age I had a drivers license and my own car. I pretty much came and went as I wanted by then and if my mom tried to stop me from doing something I wanted to do it usually did not go well for her.

Hi Koman I see you are lurking again. First in the climate change thread and now here. Greta must have a science denier like yourself all wound up.

snubby, she (and the Media) do present her as a child.

“This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us for hope. How dare you!”
An older child granted, a teenager, but still a child.

    IMHO

No smart 16 year old thinks of themselves as a child mate. "We" they knew and know it all at that age.

Sheez...presenting as a child to some (with a suggestion that this is deliberately misleading), presenting as an adult to others (ditto).

No wonder it's a tough age.

Doubtless TD's very own fresh faced, prodigiously gifted feminist intellectual would be all over this.

    And there it goes again!

A "child with emotional instability and a mental disorder" are your words not mine, I don't consider her to have any of those things. I think she's an exceptional and brave person.

No mention of her in my question....

So your hypothetical is about a "child with emotional instability and a mental disorder" in a thread about a child you have described as being a "child with emotional instability and a mental disorder"... Not spurious at all.

This is just getting silly. Insert whatever answer you want to.
