I dare you Jedi Padwan Greta Thunberg ... may the force be with you.
^Nice. lol
Thanks for the update, David, but Greta is right. She has balls for standing up for the children of the world (How DARE you!), and for her future and those of future generations.
She is coming to Alberta, Canada soon.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg says she is coming to Alberta
"Thunberg has not announced specific locations or dates for her visit to the province.CBC News reached out to the province to inquire whether Premier Jason Kenney or any ministers would entertain meetings with Thunberg, to which the office issued the following statement:
"We trust that Ms. Thunberg will recognize Alberta's leading human rights and environmental standards, especially in comparison to oil-producing dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, and Venezuela – which she will presumably visit next – as well as major growing emitters like China," the statement reads.
Lee Todd, spokesperson for the NDP Caucus, expressed his party's disappointment with provincial climate policy in a statement.
"It's profoundly disappointing that just one year ago, Greta could have seen a nation-leading climate plan that cut emissions by 50 megatonnes and supported working people producing responsible oil and gas," Todd wrote. "Today, she will see a government in denial, funding a $30-million attack machine to shut down the voices of the next generation demanding a cleaner future."
Todd wrote that previous climate initiatives led by youth had not been received properly by provincial representatives.
"When these youth came to our Legislature, they were mocked by the Premier's own staff who trolled them with signs in their windows rather than actually engaging them on this critical issue of climate change," he wrote. "If Ms. Thunberg requests a meeting, we will always consider it."

Of course she'd be mocked. Sadly, young people are not taken seriously (esp. a female minority) in political matters.
I'm one of the ones who recycled milk bottles and drank water from taps/faucets et al. Guys like me are being lumped in with the Millennials (is that the right expression) who are all carrying single use plastic water bottles and causing massive power draining data centres to be built.
At least my beer is still sold in glass bottles and aluminum cans.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all
Those who cannot change their mind, cannot change anything.
One of the reasons that the Extinction Rebellion, despite their Social Media campaign are not winning the Hearts and Minds of the Masses.

Commuters have dragged climate change protesters from the roof of a London Underground train.
Extinction Rebellion activists climbed on to trains at Stratford, Canning Town and Shadwell in Thursday's rush hour.
Eight protesters have been arrested, British Transport Police (BTP) said.
The Jubilee Line and Docklands Light Railway were temporarily suspended.
Extinction Rebellion later said it would "take stock" of the reaction to the latest action for future protests.
Spokesman Howard Rees said: "Was it the right thing to do? I am not sure.
"I think we will have to have a period of reflection. It is too early to say."
Extinction Rebellion previously said the disruption was "necessary to highlight the emergency".

Fuck 'em
Well if their intention is to get publicity, you can't fault them.
Still, the adults are really showing GT the way to go again, eh?
And Harry, that's a fair comment.
I actually support the general thrust of what Greta is on about ... I practice it myself.
But the Extinction Rebellion, come across as a bunch of left nutters ... equivalent of the right wing nutters, the KKK.
The answer is not in the extremes. It lies in getting the mass populace adopting practices which are kind to Mother Earth.

SWIMBO was disappointed that I balked at paying BHT 250 a kilo for imported grapes from the USA.
A combination of ridiculous 'food miles' and eating 'out of season' thus paying OTT.
Imported Beer ... oh, well, cough ... that's a different matter

Activists clearly feel that if that were going to happen via conventional means then it would have happened decades ago.
They have a pont.
I don't believe it's going to happen either.
I myself am pretty environmentally conscious, but I blow it by flying at least 16,000 miles per year.
btw...my guess is few people know wtf you're talking about with 'SMIBO'.
No worries.
They're not hard to find.

Greta Thunberg: New beetle named after climate activist
A newly discovered species of beetle has been named after young climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Nelloptodes gretae bears little resemblance to its namesake - it is less than 1mm long, and has no wings or eyes.
The insect does, however, have two long pigtail-like antennae.
Scientist Dr Michael Darby said he chose the name because he was "immensely impressed" by the Swedish teenager's environmental campaigning.
N. gretae was first found in Kenya in the 1960s by William Block, who donated his samples to the Natural History Museum in London in 1978. It has been held in one of the museum's collections since.
Dr Darby was studying this collection when he came across the then-nameless species.

'The climate doesn't need awards': Greta Thunberg declines environmental prize
Greta Thunberg, teen climate activist, was honoured by the Nordic Council with an environmental award which she declined.

The Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has refused to accept an environmental award, saying the climate movement needed people in power to start to “listen” to “science” and not awards.
But after it was announced, a representative for Thunberg told the audience that she would not accept the award or the prize sum of 350,000 Danish kroner (about $52,000 or €46,800), the TT news agency reported.

No Lulu, you can still buy them. Perhaps you should, you might learn something.

^ That's good.
Though paperback?
Made from trees?
The Extinction Rebellion book looks good. c/w crayons.
Graciously accept the award and donate the purse towards saving the planet. Otoh, a well publicised rejection might earn her more than that on book sales and appearance fees, the difference being it goes into her pocket; or maybe I'm just being cynical.
Anyone bought her books, or downloaded free?
