We would ALL lose in a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia or China. But maybe you're not so pissed tonight....I agree that Iran would be a shoo-in, albeit with many U.S. .....and perhaps civilian....casualties.

If you understood my post my point was that the US would never instigate a nuclear war as Hugh insinuated. With regards to Iran there would be casualties of course its a war but the US would suffer no more casualties then it did in the initial invasion of the Iraq war. The US can take apart the armies of nations states as it uses combined arms better than any other nation on earth. The problem comes after the nation state has been toppled and the insurgency begins and to be fair no nation on earth has succeeded in crushing an insurgency with anything other than massive and relentless civilian casualties.

A case in point would be Chechnya the Russians basically raised the entire country to the ground and took massive casualties in doing so. But the did succeed in subjugating Chechnya.

You are correct the alternate countries continue to utilise their wealth carefully and obtain greater value for expenditure. One only needs to review the amounts of it's citizens money one faraway country spends on "defence". More than the next 7 largest countries expenditure added together.

One would assume it would make it immune to all other threats. Unfortunately their military planners have concluded that without employing nuclear tipped missiles they would lose a war with China, Russia and even Iran. If nuclear tipped missiles are employed they don't win against China or Russia. They are walking back invasion plans of Venezuela, due, allegedly, to a Russian detachment of 50 soldiers and Cuban doctors and nurses....... I don't know how much Russia charges for a few soldiers and a transport plane on standby, but presumably it is much less than a faraway country spends, in an afternoon.

Luckily, historically one faraway country has been able to borrow money from abroad or steal resources under the barrel of a rifle

The days of a faraway country's ability to borrow wealth or it's citizens and military to stamp around the world and slaughtering/subjugating Jonny foreigner have, thankfully, greatly diminished.

Russia would not be able to withstand the attrition of war with the US and would ultimately succumb to a much superior foe. With regards to Iran the US would utterly decimate that country almost as fast as it bulldozed the Saddam regime. Nuclear weapons would not be needed and the US has a strong doctrine of using them under mutually assured destruction only.

I think military strategy is another thing that you seem to talk out of the side of your mouth about.

I do find correspondence with someone of such low intellect such as yourself although oddly amusing on occasion, becomes a little taxing at times and it is probably extremely stressful for you as well, continually having to communicate with your intellectual superiors.

I was next to a massive field hospital built for Desert Storm.

They had about three helicopter landings and they were all broken ankles from jumping off rocks and landing badly.

Maybe you should learn how to use the forum properly. The comment was not prefaced in any way nor was it contained in a quote box. Surely there is massive irony in you attacking my intelligence when you are too stupid to even use the forum correctly.

Most of the US ones were vehicle accidents. Most of the UK ones were being shot at by stoopid fucking Americans.

The US were expecting 20,000 casualties.

No, not a lot of turkeys at all on the coalition side.

On the other side, well probably every single kilometre of Highway 80 exceeded those numbers.

Actually there were 8 killed by some fucking idiot pilots flying around bombing without even checking their targets.

And lets not forget all of your own troops you killed shooting at each other in Khafji.

It's a good job you had the Brits to point you useless fuckers in the right direction.

On the bright side, I see the jinglies are getting S400 as well. Shouldn't be too difficult prising its secrets out of their hands.

US wants Turkey not to activate S-400 - Pompeo

The US wants Turkey not to make "operational" the Russian S-400 missile system it purchased from Moscow, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday.

"There could be more sanctions to follow, but frankly, what we’d really like is the S-400 not to become operational," Pompeo told Bloomberg in an interview. "That’s our objective."

President Donald Trump reportedly told Republican senators during a closed-door White House meeting on Tuesday that he is not in favour of implementing penalties on Turkey for its acquisition of the Russian S-400 anti-air missile system.

President Trump reportedly told Lindsey Graham, who was at the White House meeting, to persuade Turkey not to activate the S-400 systems in order to avoid the sanctions.

"I’m in the camp of, if they don’t activate the S-400, the sanctions don’t have to be applied. My hope is to persuade Turkey not to active the system because it’s so disruptive to the relationship," Graham told Defense One, a US-based media outlet that focuses on defence and national security.

So you can buy it, own it and get it delivered but you can't switch it on. Haha.

Erdogan says Turkey to turn elsewhere if U.S. will not sell F-35s
    26 July 2019

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday Turkey would turn elsewhere for fighter jets if the United States will not sell it the F-35 jets, adding that a U.S. decision to cut Ankara from the program would not deter it from meeting its needs.

    ---

“Are you not giving us the F-35s? Okay, then excuse us but we will once again have to take measures on that matter as well and we will turn elsewhere,” Erdogan told members of his ruling AK Party.

“Even if we’re not getting F-35s, we are buying 100 advanced Boeing aircrafts, the agreement is signed... At the moment, one of the Boeing planes has arrived and we are making the payments, we are good customers,” he said. “But, if things continue like this, we will have to reconsider this.”

Russia’s Rostec state conglomerate said Russia would be ready to supply its SU-35 jets to Turkey if Ankara requested them. But, Turkish officials said on Thursday there were no talks with Moscow on alternatives to the F-35 jets for now.

elsewhere??? And what about the Boeings?

Turkey May Rethink Boeing Plane Orders, Erdogan Says
    26 July 2019

Turkey’s president said his government may have to “rethink” existing orders for Boeing Co. airplanes worth about $10 billion, in comments that reflect the country’s strained ties with the U.S.

Turkey’s hesitation on the Boeing order adds to tension created when the country ordered a missile defense system from Russia, spurning an offer for Ankara to buy U.S. air-defense missiles.

“I’ve told Mr. Trump in Osaka that even if Turkey’s not buying Patriots, it’s buying Boeings. We’re good customers,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday in Ankara, referring to Raytheon’s Patriot systems. “But if it goes on like this, we’ll have to rethink about this issue.”

No, not forgotten, 'tis a well known fact that "radical extremists" of any flavor are more than willing to die for the cause. Damn good thing that radical extremists are in the minority.

The problem is how the world will react when a radical extremist group gets their hands on any of the following; a portable nuk, dirty bomb, bio warfare bug, and then do manage to launch a successful attack. Mass destruction - the scenario's are endless. Wouldn't take much to poison a reservoir using a crop-duster plane.

We do know how the world reacts to an airplane crashed into a skyscraper.

Just how will the world react to next terrorist attack?

They already have them, have used them and continue to use them frequently

It depends on your definition of a "radical extremist group"

However you define/label them as there are now capable "groups" who have no hesitation in slaughtering millions of innocent civilians on an ongoing basis and actually boast of their successes and abilities, some on a daily basis

    It makes them feel "exceptional"

Portable on what, a donkey cart, a Toyota pickup, an airplane, a submarine, a missile?

Dirty bomb, dial it in, set the controls, they're here now stockpiled around the world ready to be delivered by a vassal

Bio-warfare = prescription drugs, unexplained human and animal "viruses" being found outside their normal geographic regions, new deadly "diseases" being "found" in "testing areas" around the world!

Not everyone is privileged to live surrounded by oceans on all sides

Or are you content and believe that these are just "natural events"?
