    AOC derangement syndrome is real.

I love the way this young woman triggers trumptards into fits of apoplexy.
They really are terrified of her, it's hilarious.

AOC is ignorant, ungrateful and coming for your meat
Large swaths of America appear to be suffering from a debilitating condition known as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Derangement Syndrome (AOCDS). Symptoms include bouts of extreme condescension, an inability to stop sputtering the word “socialist”, and overwhelming anger that a young woman of colour is unapologetically succeeding.

The latest conservative to succumb to AOCDS is Grace-Marie Turner, the president of a non-profit devoted to “counter[ing] the march towards toward government-controlled medicine”. (Can we just pause for a moment and contemplate what sort of person spends their life trying to ensure there will never be affordable healthcare in the United States?)

Ocasio-Cortez – 'who actually worked for wages' - rebukes Ivanka Trump

On Tuesday Turner ranted in the Wall Street Journal that Ocasio-Cortez “has little regard for the system that made it possible for her to be elected to Congress”. Turner also lamented that the congresswoman “leads a generation of young people to take pride in their ignorance – of the laws of nature, of history, of the Constitution, of the eternal battle for freedom – and still succeed”.

As you can imagine, the congresswoman had a few words to say in response to this, tweeting on Thursday that: “I guess WSJ Editorial Page takes pride in their ignorance of our nation’s history of slavery, Jim Crow, & mass incarceration; willful doubt on the decades of science on climate change; targeting of indigenous peoples, and the classist, punitive agenda targeting working families.”

Ocasio-Cortez hit the bigoted nail on the head with that. After all, what Turner was essentially saying in her op-ed was that minorities should respect a system that doesn’t respect them. That Ocasio-Cortez, who “doesn’t come from a rich and powerful family”, doesn’t have an Ivy League education, and has Puerto Rican heritage, should be grateful she is allowed to exist in America, let alone succeed. And that AOC certainly shouldn’t mess with the laws of nature and history that mean rich white men, and a few rich white women, are our leaders and superiors. Turner, and conservatives like her, are terrified by Ocasio-Cortez because she symbolizes a new generation who aren’t going to shut up and be grateful, but are intent on changing an unequal system.

If you need any more evidence of how panicked conservatives are about the young congresswoman, just take a look at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference, which features heavy doses of Ocasio-Cortez scaremongering. Perhaps the most ridiculous examples of this was Sebastian Gorka, a former Trump official, announcing to the crowd that democratic socialists like Ocasio-Cortez “want to rebuild your home … [and] take away your hamburgers. This is what Stalin dreamt about but never achieved.” Republican men are clearly terrified AOC is coming for their meat

    Isn't it just.

A young woman of color and she has a bunch of old men shitting their Depends over her and checking their closets at night before they sleep.

The funniest thing is when they come at her on Twitter or some other social media and she just brutalizes them in return.

Quite amusing. 235 Democrats in the House, and if you read the news, you would think there are only AOC and the two Muslims.

I'll admit she's charismatic, passionate, attractive and a great self promoter.

BUT ... too left field for me.

I understand the 'shoot for the stars' but, when reality sets in, be happy when you land on the moon.

BUT she's talking about bringing the USA into a black hole of debt for the ideas she espouses.

Universal Health Care is very affordable ... look at the Australian model.
Free Hospitals, free Doctors. The service is good, but not excellent.
Want better? Private Health Insurance is affordable.
    (Moon Landing)

FFS, the USA price for petrol (gas) is ridiculously low.
Increase the tax, thus increase the tax take. User pay model.
Americans will eventually choose more fuel efficient cars which are better for the environment.
    (Moon Landing)

BUT high speed trains across the USA and NO FLYING ... bat shite crazy ... a black hole of debt

Debt matters to Republicans only when they are in opposition. The Tax Scam that passed last year is blowing out the deficit whilst huge corps such as Amazon and such are paying nothing. The middle class is seeing their taxes effectively go up as deductions for state and local taxes are no longer allowed. Even charitable donations are no longer deductible.

AOC killed her career with her "celebratory" response to Amazon's departure from New York - losing 25k jobs is never a reason to celebrate and whoever her opponent is will capitalize on that mistake.

John Oliver did a bit on that when Amazon was scouting for where to put their new HQ.

The fact of the matter is that all these cities basically whore themselves out and offer incentives and tax breaks that they never recoup.

Economically she's spot on with that one and the numbers back her up, 25k 'lost' jobs notwithstanding.

first of all, that 25 k figure is speculation...but let's go with it anyway....those 25 k jobs would have cost the city $3 billion in tax breaks.
despite it's $11 billion profit in 2018, amazon wouldn't have paid a single dollar in taxes for education, police, fire fighters, infrastructure, or health care.

that $3 billion would be better spent on NYC infrastructure projects, and all the jobs those projects would create. the city could also pay the teachers, nurses, cops and fire fighters a more reasonable wage.

and most importantly, amazon isn't going to walk away from NYC. without doing any research whatsoever, i'd wager that NYC is one of amazon's most profitable regions, and they've already stated that they're still going to create jobs there.

Isn't the decision to locate the business a matter for local government?

Not particularly, and yes it does tax the 'average person', but that's fair IMHO in this case.

US federal fuel tax – unchanged for 20 years, but under pressure
UHY says that the United States levies a federal fuel tax of 18.4 and 24.4 cents per gallon on gasoline and diesel, which alongside state taxes on fuel consumption contribute to an average US fuel tax of 13% on gasoline and 12% on diesel.

This federal fuel tax has not risen in 20 years.

In late 2013, a proposal was introduced in Congress to increase that fuel tax to 33.4 cents per gallon on gasoline and 42.8 cents per gallon on diesel.

Comments Scott Miller, Partner and National Petroleum Practice Leader of UHY Advisors in the US: “Increasing the federal fuel tax is a political challenge that few US politicians would be enthusiastic about.

While some argue that a fuel tax increase is needed to fund transportation infrastructure, others maintain any tax increase would be a drag on the economy.
At the state level, with decreasing gas consumption and increasing infrastructure costs, many states are considering gas tax increases or other tax changes to make up for the lost gas tax revenue.”

The best part about AOC is that she's clearly got the trumpanzees running scared, hence their need to focus their vitriol du jour on her.

Plus of course she is a woman with an actual brain, something that scares the shit out of them every time.

She probably made the best use of her time in the Cohen grilling too.

Three names for the Committee to summon, one of whom is almost guaranteed to plead the 5th to every fucking question (well not the Republican ones, obviously, they will be like "what did you have for breakfast today?").

    Sorry but Ben Garrison!

The guy is a loon, if AOCDS is a thing he'd be the official cartoonist for it.

Check out his drawings of Trump. You can tell he gets a hard-on from doing them.

And she's now a cult of personality to boot...a potemkin socialist.

    IMHO
The US is in a black Hole of deficits, last balanced budget was under the Clinton administration .Many of as spend more than we have and ens up in debt but at the very least we had a fancy car, a big house, or a hell of a vacation. What has Trillions of US debt bought the American people? A crumbling infrastructure? Perpetual war? 31st in life expectancy below Costa Rica and Chile?

I don't understand the " Private Health Insurance is affordable.
    (Moon Landing)
" comment, where is Private Health Insurance affordable? or how could such a Mythical bird be found?

" the USA price for petrol (gas) is ridiculously low. " The US pays more for petrol more than any place in the world. sure the price at the pump might seem low to an outsider, but consider all the costs to deliver the illusion of the low price at the pump ( trillions of $s on wars to insure the low pump price, and untold suffering and pain) and you will find the price unaffordable. The price will continue to be paid many many yers after the oil is gone,in medical costs to our wounded veterans, environmental damage, and servicing that debt. How is that for cheap oil?

I am amazed when the castle argues for the right of the bucher to have a good stake while marching towards the slaughter house.

You can put any spin on it you want - facts nor logic work in commercials - her opponents whomever they may be will present the job loss of 25k - blame it all on her, use Cuomo's words as support and soundly defeat her.
