I don't think there is a precedent for such a request, nor can the Dems give a compelling reason for it.

Mind you, I'm all for the release, but I'd be very surprised if it really happened.

For what legitimate purpose would they need his tax returns? A criminal investigation? What grounds? Rumors of money laundering or breaking the emoluments clause aren't enough. It really is the definition of a fishing expedition.

Look, I don't like the guy. I think he's as crooked as the day is long, but the Dems need to follow the dots, not get ahead of things before a full picture of Trump's little mafia enterprise is fully put together.

Maybe the Mueller report will give them some justification for going after his tax returns, who knows? In the meantime, they shouldn't over play their hand just yet. They need to choose their battles wisely. Good they backed off the impeachment for now, not enough dirt for that either.

The fact that Trump is protecting his taxes so vigorously tells me there is probably a sh*tload of dodgy activity, or maybe he REALLY doesn't want people to know that he's not really a billionaire. Or both.

Anyway, if the Dems can come up with a legit reason to expose his tax returns other than, "We think he's a crook", that might go over better with the public.

Although, to be fair, already 2/3 of Americans already say he should release them.

I just watched an hour long AOC interview by Michael Isikoff on Yahoo news , I did not hear AOC say anything unreasonable.
This young lady sas a very bright future ahead of her. Judge for yourself.
