Do women actually wear burkas in Bangladesh?

A Google image search for Bangladesh women does not come up with a single one wearing a burka.

I don't think the last part is right. The mother is British and was born in the UK. She's not British by descent so she can pass on her citizeship to her children (by descent if born outside the UK). I've seen nothing to say that 2 British born grandparents are necessary. Do you have a link or some other reference to support that view?

You’re automatically a British citizen if you were born outside the UK and all of the following apply:

    * you were born on or after 1 July 2006
    * your mother or father was a British citizen when you were born
    * your British parent could pass on their citizenship to you

Your British parent could pass on their citizenship to you if they were one of the following:

    * born or adopted in the UK
    * given citizenship after applying for it in their own right (not based on having a British parent)
    * working as a Crown servant when you were born (for example in the diplomatic service, overseas civil service or armed forces)

    yeah .gov I’ll follow that

when I applied for a passport to Brit embassy in 2012 I was refused because I only had a short birth certificate

i had to supply (after ordering a copy and having it posted) a full “Long “ Uk birth cert, the only difference between long and short is one names your parents name dob place of birth and occupation

there must be something in there that implies British or Britisher and maybe why the Home Secretary has played his card! Setting the president maybe

I always did did wonder if two British citizens who were born in the uk to immigrant parents had a child whilst on holiday, would they have to go through the immigration route to get back ?

Say in Bangkok, Thailand wouldn’t give citizenship?
newborn would need a passport to travel to Uk?
ifso to apply for said passport (I remember it went via Hong Kong) they want to know your parents..

    for some reason

i mean if I was in her shoes the home Office could not revoke my citizenship (as many quotes of international law) as according to my birth certificate I cannot obtain any other nationality,

maybe Sadj is dipping his toe in the water?

US just denied the Alabama-born terrorist entry to the US, ever, as well as her kid from one of the three terrorists she shacked up with. She was born in the US, but her father was a foreign diplomat at the time of her birth, thus she is not, per the State Department, a US citizen, nor has she ever been. Nice loophole find.

Read a bit more. Her Dad was a low-level Yemeni UN employee. Yemen, like a number of other fly-speck countries, routinely puts virtually all of their employees, drivers, cooks, the lot, on their diplomatic list. But, he was fired a month before she was born. She in fact had a US passport as a kid, and renewed it before heading off to be an ISIS wife. So, a bit murky. Still, POTUS and SECSTATE say she isn't entering the US. We shall see.

Shamina Begum is not a Bangladeshi citizen and will not be allowed here, Bangladesh says

Shamima Begum is not a Bangladeshi citizen and there is "no question" of her being allowed into the country, Bangladesh's ministry of foreign affairs has said.

The UK has stripped the 19-year-old - who fled London to join Islamic State - of her British citizenship.

Such a move is only possible if an individual is eligible for citizenship elsewhere.

It was thought Ms Begum had Bangladeshi citizenship through her mother.

But the ministry of foreign affairs said the government was "deeply concerned" she had been "erroneously identified" as a Bangladeshi national.

In a statement, it said Ms Begum had never applied for dual nationality with Bangladesh and had never visited the country.

Shamima Begum 'is not a Bangladeshi citizen and will not be allowed here,' says foreign minister

Shamima Begum, who fled to Syria aged 15, is not a Bangladeshi citizen and will be barred from entering the country, its foreign ministry has said.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid revoked her British citizenship in a move only permissible under international law if it does not leave the individual stateless.

There had been speculation that Ms Begum, who is of Bangladeshi heritage, may have citizenship there but its minister of state for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam denied this on Wednesday.

It comes as the 19-year-old told BBC News that she only has "one citizenship" and that it was wrong for the UK to revoke it without speaking to her first.

Britain stripped the teenager of her citizenship on Tuesday.

The Home Office sent a letter to her family explaining her citizenship had been revoked, a move made possible due to its belief that she has dual British and Bangladeshi citizenship through her mother.

However, the Bangladeshi foreign ministry has now denied reports she is a Bangladeshi citizen.

A statement said: “The government of Bangladesh is deeply concerned that she has been erroneously identified as a holder of dual citizenship shared with Bangladesh alongside her birthplace, the United Kingdom.

"Bangladesh asserts that Ms Shamima Begum is not a Bangladeshi citizen. She is a British citizen by birth and has never applied for dual nationality with Bangladesh.

"It may also be mentioned that she never visited Bangladesh in the past despite her parental lineage.

"So, there is no question of her being allowed to enter into Bangladesh."

The statement added that Dhaka had only been made aware of the situation by the media.

.... Home Secretary Sajid Javid today suggested that her son, named Jarrar, will be British despite his mother's citizenship being revoked.

When questions were raised in the Commons over her son's nationality, Mr Javid said: "Children should not suffer.

"So, if a parent does lose their British citizenship, it does not affect the rights of their child. Deprivation is a powerful tool that can only be used to keep the most dangerous individuals out of this country and we do not use it lightly.

We shall. Land of the free rights and all that, unless there's already legislation prohibiting what she did with outcast consequences, she might be home and hosed after a small legal battle. Of course Trump will make a meal of it at first.

That's a bit of an odd comment when I have repeatedly said (even in my post you quoted) that I think she should be made an example of and denied return.

He's wrapping himself up in knots, ambitious guy, would advise May to not let him be within striking distance of her back.
