About time she did. And it's getting complicated.

Section 6 purports to state that a birth-citizen of Bangladesh loses his citizenship upon acquiring a foreign citizenship, but then in certain circumstances, they may apply to the government for their Bangladeshi citizenship.

Assuming "birth-citizen of Bangladesh" means being born in Bangladesh, Ms Begum isn't that. She was born in the UK.

    • Her lawyer says the US won't let her return because she is not an American citizen

Bangladesh also recognise nationality by blood related. Her mother is from Bangladesh so she's Bangladeshi by blood related.

Bangladeshi citizenship is based primarily on jus sanguinis, through blood. ... Citizens of USA, UK Australia, Canada and Europe of Bangladeshi origin may apply for a Dual Nationality Certificate. This certificate makes it legal to possess a Bangladeshi passport in addition to a foreign passport.

Best thing to do in any situation where laws/events/facts/emotions are unclear or divided or contentious is to shut up and say nothing.

Javid got himself into this mess by announcing what he thought voters wanted to hear, and before doing his dd! He started by sensibly qualifying his knee-jerk exemption order with, "if it is lawful to do so," and then went off the rails by confirming it without bothering to check that it was a) not just lawful but without associated legal conflict, b) the powerful legal, social and political opposition to exempting the mother, c) and making her potentially stateless, d) while embracing the child, against e) both sets of comprehensive human rights, and f) probably more!

She gave birth to her son about a week ago. The chances of your story being true are less than Genticles voting for Brexit.

I fear this may end up being so.

How can these generations of spongers be incentivised to work? Not just an ISIS Brit hater problem, but a general problem of how to balance offering genuine social benefits for those that need support, but not allowing the lazy buggers to take advantage. I'm pretty sure most Brits would agree that something has gone very wrong in this space during the last 30 years or so.

It's a problem in the antipodes too. NZ cuts social benefits if you don't do so many job interviews per month, and they're not shy to accuse a sponger of deliberately muffing the inteview. It's actually quite hard, barely possible, to live off NZ social welfare, unless you have under-the-table additional income such as a dope patch or you go fishing and sell the catch.

She never had a passport, she used somebody else's to get to Jihad paradise land. Other people have been given prison just for doing that. We have enough inbred Islamic jihadis on the anti terror watch list as it is, we don't need another one. Her dad is probably on it already.

Are the Brits all useless scroungers? Most benefit receivers are whitey Brits.

You must be very young, that you don't remember the 70s and 80s - the screws have been tightened a lot since then.
