Bush 2000 recount lawyer says Trump election suits are "entirely without merit"

    Key Points

    • Election law experts say the Trump campaign’s lawsuits lack evidence and are not likely to change the outcome of the 2020 contest.
    • “I think the lawsuits filed so far are entirely without merit,” wrote Barry Richard, who served as a lead attorney for George W. Bush during the 2000 recount in Florida.
    • The Trump team has brought cases in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada and Georgia, where election results have been too close to call.
    • Though the suits vary slightly by state, some Republicans have without evidence questioned the integrity of absentee and mail-in voting procedures.

Steve Bannon lawyers want off his criminal case after ex-Trump advisor discussed Fauci beheading

    Key Points

    • The criminal defense lawyers for ex-top Trump advisor Steve Bannon filed court papers saying they would seek to withdraw from the case, a day after Bannon discussed having FBI Director Christopher Wray and coronavirus fighter Dr. Anthony Fauci beheaded.
    • “Mr. Bannon is in the process of retaining new counsel, and Quinn Emanuel intends to move to withdraw,” wrote Bannon’s lead attorney, William Burck, in the filing in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
    • Bannon is free on $5 million bond in the case, where he is accused of defrauding donors to a nonprofit group set up to supposedly fund building a wall on the U.S. southern border.

Some of the commentary as to why the major networks have not 'called' the election is that they are waiting for margin lead to beyond that which would require a recount.

    They are just being prudent.

    In Georgia, for example ...

Less then 2,000 votes split the candidates

There still about 8,000 potential Military votes which can still be accepted if they were post-marked by the Election Day

White House aide Ja'Ron Smith leaves post

Ja’Ron Smith, the highest-ranking Black person in the White House and a top aide who worked with Jared Kushner, left his position on Friday.

A White House official confirmed that Smith had left his position and said his departure was long-planned, regardless of the outcome of the election. The development was first reported by Bloomberg News.

Smith served as deputy assistant to President Trump for domestic policy and was first brought into the White House in 2017 to advise the president on urban affairs and revitalization policy. He became the highest-ranking Black individual in Trump’s White House following the departure of Omarosa Manigault Newman in 2018.

    CNN and MSNBC also.
Many news outlets , will not call the states that are still counting ballots, even though Biden is leading in all these deciding states and the outcome is for the most part certain, I think because they don't want to seem partial.
No reason to give trump more ammunition for his tweet tirades. Let the counting end, we can wait another day.

Sorry to rain on your parade. you have so litle to be happy about this election outcome it pains me to take this away from you
    -Not really!!
" the Supreme Court let election officials in two key battleground states, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, accept absentee ballots for several days after Election Day."
Supreme Court to Let PA, NC Accept Absentee Ballots After Election Day - The New York Times

and Pennsylvania has voluntarily being segregating these ballots in case of legal challenges anyway..
-Famous Republican Lawyer Benjamin L. Ginsberg, who has litigated many republican election issues said on TV that trump is grasping at straws. trump is trying to delay the inevitable, trying to find something else to hung his hat on,
-He said that they are not really concerned with segregation because these ballots are already being segregated, but do not want these ballots counted, but he said the Supreme Court would never Disenfranchise voters that voted in good faith and based on a court decision, but would never even hear this case because even if they did, it would not change the outcome because there are not enough of those ballots to have an affect, and they will never hear a case that has no affect.

^ No I am supporting Biden. I only mentioned those news items because they are relevant to where this thing is going. There was a point on post election day where it looked like everyone except maybe Don Jr. was going to hang Trump out to dry. Even Mike Pence hardly uttered anything in support of him.

But its tightened up since then and Republicans are starting to get behind Trump on contesting it.

Where are the trumpanzies ? Bowie , Deeks, tommyB , airportwo, who else..

Democratic candidate Joe Biden has pulled ahead of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, a key state in the US presidential race, results data show.

Mr Biden is leading by more than 14,000 votes, with 98% counted. If he takes the state, he will win the election.

Good to know that the Orange one will soon go away.

@buckaroo - I remembered your post about the USA being a handful of states on the east & west coasts, then it's all blah-blah states in the middle. As a foreigner looking in, I found that to be true, especially when I was younger. In movies or TV shows, you just hear about NY/NJ and California, Las Vegas and maybe Seattle (home of Starbucks!). In TV shows like Buffy & Sabrina or movies like American Pie, USA just looks like general suburbia. When I visited the US, I stayed mainly in suburbia - it didn't disappoint. Cheers!

Forcing Fox News, Trump campaign headquarters, to call it would be a finishing touch to the reign of the menace and tyrant. It would be a Hindenburg event.

    Winning!!!

Thousands of Donald Trump supporters have unwittingly found themselves in a Facebook group called “Gay Communists for Socialism”, after being tricked by its creators into joining what they thought was a pro-Trump election group.

On Thursday, a Facebook group called “Stop the Steal”, a reference to the president’s false claims that Joe Biden is “stealing” the US election, was disabled by the social network for misinformation after gaining more than 350,000 members. Other groups emerged in its place, including a second “Stop the Steal” group that attracted more than 40,000 castaways from the original group.

But less than 24 hours later, an administrator for the group changed its name to “Gay Communists for Socialism” without explanation, confounding the new members.

Dozens of posts from angry and confused Trump supporters asked, “What happened to stop the steal?” and, “Why is this group called gay communists for socialism?”, while others demanded, “Get me off this page !!!!!!”

Using Facebook-owned data analytics tool CrowdTangle, the Guardian confirmed the group was created on 5 November as “Stop the Steal” before being renamed. One administrator, whose real identity could not be verified, told the Guardian the group was a planned operation to troll conservatives with a fake “Stop the Steal” group.

“We had no idea it would take off like this or suck in as many clueless people as it did when we made the switch,” the administrator said. He said the group, which now has 60,000 members, has an additional 20,000 member requests.

Another group administrator further trolled its members by telling them the name change had been done to keep Facebook from cracking down on it, and later said the group may have been hacked by Facebook itself. “We’ve been on the phone and messaging with Facebook trying to get to the bottom of this” – a clear joke, as Facebook does not have a public customer service phone number

Holy shit this just smacks of desperation:

"According to the fine print in the donation request, 60 per cent of all donations will go to offsetting debts in Trump's election campaign."
