"there is nothing wrong with america that cannot be cured by what is right with america."

that said, if there is anything we've learned over the past four years is that the leaders of the country need to be restrained by laws....not rules..... or assumptions of ethical and moral behavior.
this next congress has work to do making sure this doesn't happen again before another grifter becomes president.

I'm not gonna argue the toss with either of you about it however to paraphrase something I read earlier...

The real revelation of the past 4 years isn’t that Trump is a wannabe authoritarian leader it’s how many American citizens want an authoritarian leader.

And the willing acquiescence to an authoritarian coupled with a social media-driven, post-truth, conspiracy based landscape means that Trump may not be a one-time outlier and America is ripe for more of his ilk. Worse even.

i don't know about that....but what is clear is that we've become exceedingly tribal. the MAGA crowd would have been in the streets with pitchforks and torches if obama or clinton had said/done a fraction of the shit trump does...because for whatever misguided reason, they think he gives a shit about them.

this is the point i was trying to make in my post above yours....the constitution was written under the premise that the head of state wouldn't be a shameless grifter. laws need to change ASAP because we can no longer assume that the president will be constrained by morality or ethical behavior.

I think the recent riots will be nothing compared to what will happen if Trump loses but refuses to concede.
As for having read articles about the end of the U.S. experiment since the sixties they haven't faced anything quite like this before.

That's the part that really boggles my mind.

Trump is basically the poster boy for the entitled snowflake 'elites' they rally about yet they worship him.

Which can be applied and said about any country.
As can the fanciful notion of exceptionalism.

Now trump claims that he might lose the debates because Biden is on performance enhancing drugs , something like viagra for debates. (debagra) . If he is would of course be fine by me, it only means that they will make him a better president and begs the question , why isn't trump on them?????

    For the betting man...

US Election 2020 Odds: 80% Of Money Wagered Is On Donald Trump | Insight| OddsChecker

US Presidential Election 2020 Odds: 80% Of Money Wagered Is On Donald Trump Winning

Joe Biden might be the bookmakers favorite but Donald Trump is certainly the bettors pick

Sam Eaton Wed, September 23, 1:24 AM
2020 US election odds: The money keeps on coming for Donald Trump

Despite 47% of UK bookmakers on the OddsChecker grids shortening the price for a Joe Biden win in the November election over the last 48-hours, the money keeps on flooding in for a Donald Trump victory.

Donald Trump has dominated US election betting since the market opened, with the majority of bettors expecting him to extend his stay at the White House. However, the number of bets placed on Joe Biden and Donald Trump has levelled out slightly this month. The percentage of bets for Donald Trump in the 2020 US Election market has dropped from 58% in August to 52% in September. Joe Biden's share has risen from 33.5% to 40% in the same time period.

However, the actually money being wagered on each of the candidates hasn't levelled out at all. As mentioned, Donald Trump has accounted for 52% of bets placed in September, but this equates to 80% of money wagered on the 2020 US election. Whereas, Joe Biden has only accounted for 18.6% of money wagered on the election.

All this bookmakers odds BS seems to have crept in the last couple of weeks.
It just distracts from the important stuff and I guarantee it's started by the russian trolls.

I’m gonna have to stop reading this thread or watching the news. My blood pressure rises too much when I think Trump would cause such chaos that he will be president again.

As you have pointed out, this problem is much larger than Trump. Trump is just a symptom of the rot in America, a country unfit for a democracy. What we are seeing is an attempt of a complete neofascist take over of the country, financed by Wall Street, by the GOP, their political arm. Democracy is a threat to the privileged corporate class and they need to undermine it, if they can't control it. The US is in for a nightmare, as Trump continues to suggest he will not accept the results of the election if he loses.

No problem: the SC UN will be called in and solve it.

    Or perhaps EU?

Somebody in this thread claimed the exact thing regarding suburban women a while back in this thread.
