I used to be VP APAC for the company with most widely held shares . . . and that was 5.2 million. Not all, obviously, in the US. The emphasis Trump and his gargoyle pack place on this and voters simply love it - though they usually wouldn't be part of the stock market - the wealthy get wealthier and the Trump voters poorer.

    Please, let's not discuss trickle-down economics either . . . it doesn't work

Being a gubment worker the TSP funds are all I follow. And as you can see in the link below Trumpers are either high, drunk or both with their boast about how much better stocks are doing under Trump versus Obama.

It really is a terrible economic barometer. Especially when two stocks in particular (Amazon and Tesla) are literally dragging the US stock market around by the scruff of its neck. Been a good year for me as I own shares of both but man as you mentioned most investors/401ks are in funds like the ones you mentioned. If you have a broad diverse portfolio you probably aren't doing so good.

In fairness to carroturd it appears to me that he was not suggesting that people should be able to vote twice ie. that if they did a postal vote then that would be known when they attempted a booth vote.

something to think/freak out about from nate silver...

Chance of a Biden Electoral college win if he wins the popular vote by X points:

    0-1 points: just 6%!
    1-2 points: 22%
    2-3 points: 46%
    3-4 points: 74%
    4-5 points: 89%
    5-6 points: 98%
    6-7 points: 99%

Edit: Snap, I see RC beat me to it, posts crossed

Just glanced this from Nate Silver:

Chance of a Biden Electoral college win if he wins the popular vote by X points:

    0-1 points: just 6%!
    1-2 points: 22%
    2-3 points: 46%
    3-4 points: 74%
    4-5 points: 89%
    5-6 points: 98%
    6-7 points: 99%
It's quite interesting and shows how the Electoral college is stacked against Biden / the Dems.

It also shows how the Dems can be weak and allow the GOP to steal elections.

You can guarantee that the GOP would fight tooth and nail for every last point if Biden were to win in anything less than a landslide but the Dems... Meh, not so much, they are too concerned with being perceived as 'fair' for their own good at times I reckon.

What's a point? Knowing the differential of total votes would be the way to look at this.

    ...

Full disclosure though I'm utterly shite at maths so could have that completely wrong!

Would it be any different if he said "Let them go to a bank with a gun and try and get money with it"?

It's still incitement to commit a felony.

Indeed, he's telling them to attempt to vote after having already voted. In any case the polls do not have an information database to verify whether a mail in vote has been counted already.

    Trump is an utter buffoon.

How fkn nuts is it that less than a month ago a bipartisan Senate report was released that concluded Trump was willing to accept foreign assistance in the 2016 election and obstructed the investigation... And it's no longer even really being referenced.

After two political conventions unlike any the United States had seen before, Joe Biden maintains an advantage over Donald Trump in the race for the presidency, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.

Among registered voters, 51% back Biden, 43% Trump. The difference in each candidate's support when compared with a CNN poll conducted pre-conventions is within the poll's margin of sampling error.

Facebook bans new political ads in week before election

The measures also aim to prevent campaigns and their supporters from making premature claims of victory, a situation some Democrats have described as a doomsday scenario.

Facebook will ban new political ads for the week leading up to Election Day, Nov. 3, and remove posts that try to suppress or discourage voting, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Thursday.

The measures also aim to prevent campaigns and their supporters from making premature claims of victory, a situation some Democrats have described as a doomsday scenario.

The announcement came as part of a series of steps to address concerns about how Facebook could be used to manipulate the election, and included a warning from Zuckerberg about potential unrest around the U.S. related to the election.

“The U.S. elections are just two months away, and with Covid-19 affecting communities across the country, I'm concerned about the challenges people could face when voting,” Zuckerberg wrote in a note to staff members. “I'm also worried that with our nation so divided and election results potentially taking days or even weeks to be finalized, there could be an increased risk of civil unrest across the country.”

Facebook's move comes amid growing fears that President Donald Trump and his supporters will use social media to spread evidence-free claims of voter fraud and cast doubt on mail-in votes, which are likely to delay the final results for several days.

Remember when trump was going to eliminate the trade deficit and started to impose all these tariffs that made imported goods more expensive for americans?

HHS Secretary Azar says Nov. 1 coronavirus vaccine deadline has ‘nothing to do with elections’

    • Azar said the deadline was made by Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases and other “career people” at the agency.
