Also can't understand the political gain choosing only a black female as VP. Will get them near zero gain in votes they have already.

It really shouldn't take much to beat Trump, and less each time he opens his mouth, though it upsets some of our goons when I repeat, when Trump beats Biden the blame lies entirely with the DNC for failing to post a candidate that can win against the worst potus in our time. Should be easy to understand, even for our resident authorities on US politics.

It has been explained to you ad nauseum that the DNC does not 'post' a candidate. I'm convinced that you are either trolling or willfully ignorant.

it's a good question, but IMO it's missing the bigger picture....which of those possibilities is the most likely to get biden to 270?

IMO, it's warren. because of how she's viewed by voters in MI, PA and WI--she does carry some baggage though. i also believe that harris wouldn't help or harm biden's chances.

i don't think it will be rice because she'll be too much of a distraction. fox will run every crazy obama era conspiracy theory (benghazi!!!!) 24/7 which will in turn force the other news outlets to cover them.

bass is of course an interesting choice, but will most americans agree that she is "ready on day one"?

we will find out next week.

The Republican governor of Massachusetts could temporarily appoint a Republican to her Senate seat until a special election could be held thereby possibly jeopardizing a possible Democratic majority in the Senate in early 2021.

Val Demings. More than anybody else, she gives Biden the best chance to win in 2010.

and....the state legislature could pass a law that requires that the temp replacement be from the same party...

Many commentators have warned that important momentum could be lost if a Republican is serving in Warren’s seat even if only for five months. Theoretically, it could cost the Democrats control of the Senate during that period, complicating Biden’s ability to confirm his cabinet or fill other key positions and blocking his legislative agenda. The Democrats also feel burned from the experience of Scott Brown, who unexpectedly won election after being appointed as the interim replacement for Teddy Kennedy.

There’s a simple solution for this, however. The Massachusetts legislature is overwhelmingly Democratic. The state Senate has 34 Democrats, five Republicans, and two vacancies. The state House has 126 Democrats, 31 Republicans, one independent, and two vacancies. These majorities are more than sufficient to override any gubernatorial veto. All the legislature has to do is look at the example of what the Republicans have done in North Carolina.

    from the same article above...

Too often, the Republicans play hardball while the Democrats play tiddlywinks. You don’t have to prefer Elizabeth Warren to see the merit in changing the Massachusetts law. Sure, it would be a demonstration of raw partisan power, but it’s not illegal or unconstitutional. And there’s no rationale for the Republicans to use these tactics while the Democrats sit on their hands and worry about how things will look.
    amen.

Part of the calculation. Personally I feel that Warren would push the ticket too far to the left and puts Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania at risk. Heck, she didn't even win the primary in her own state.

who's ready to be president on day 1?

IMO it's warren and to a lesser extent harris and rice.

    the cases against:
with biden's advanced age, bass is going to raise too many questions about her readiness.
rice has so much baggage...the vast majority of it fake...but it's baggage all the same and would be a huge distraction.
warren is a lefty...and trump will be calling her a racial slur 24/7 to raise questions about her trustworthiness.
harris looks like an opportunist, has a sketchy background as a prosecutor and from what i've read...while competent, she isn't an intellectual force

    IMO
    * the safest bet is harris...ticks all the boxes, doesn't do any great harm to biden's chances, is a good debater.
    * warren would be the best president or vice president. she's whip smart and knows how govt. works.
    * rice would be a great sec. of state.....loyal, knowledgeable and experienced.
    * truthfully I don't know enough about bass, but maybe have her take harris' senate seat if she gets the nod.

Not enough if you are taking 23 and 12 senators from the GOP and Dem totals respectively.

Even if you made it 22 and 12 it would still leave the Dems 33-32.

However, you are right in that the GOP would try every underhand trick in their arsenal with no respect for rules or tradition (odd for "conservatives" eh?), and no doubt it will end up in the Supreme Court again.

And with a Republican majority on SCOTUS....

somebody (looking at you, kamala) just unearthed a video of bass praising scientology.

if nothing else, this is an attempt to demonstrate that she hasn't been thoroughly vetted....which is probably true.

biden will make his decision soon, and the long knives are out.

That's what many seem to be missing in Biden's "choice" of VP: They have to pass vetting.

That may well have already ruled out some of the favourites.

I don't think Elizabeth Warren will be asked to be the VP.

    My understanding is ...

1/ Elizabeth Warren is a "Class I - Senators Whose Term of Service Expire in 2025"

2/ "If a vacancy occurs due to a senator's death, resignation, or expulsion, the Seventeenth Amendment allows state legislatures to empower the governor to appoint a replacement to complete the term"

3/ The current Massachusetts Governor is Charlie Baker, a Republican

Donald Trump says mail-in voting leads to fraud. Experts say it's critical to protect

    2020 US Presidential Race-12472454-16x9-xlarge-jpg

Change won't be easy. Or cheap

The Brennan Center report lays out five broad areas it says are "critical" to "ensure the election works":

    • Polling place modification and preparation
    • Expanded early voting
    • A universal vote-by-mail option
    • Voter registration modification and preparation
    • Voter education and manipulation prevention

    2020 US Presidential Race-12472424-3x2-xlarge-jpg

The report found that "to ensure all elections between now and November are free, fair, safe, and secure", at least $US4 billion ($5.6 billion) would be needed from Congress.

So far, Congress has only approved $US450 million. House Democrats rolled more election funding into a new coronavirus stimulus bill, but we're waiting to see if that package will pass Congress (and avoid a potential veto on the President's desk).

The problem is that baldy orange cunto has installed a crony who is already destroying the postal service - presumably so that baldy and the republican states can say that it can't handle the elections.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The U.S. Postal Service is considering closing post offices across the country, sparking concerns ahead of an anticipated surge of mail-in ballots in the 2020 elections, U.S. Sen Joe Manchin and a union leader said Wednesday.

Manchin said he has received numerous reports from post offices and colleagues about service cuts or looming closures in West Virginia and elsewhere, prompting him to send a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy asking for an explanation.

    The possible cutbacks come as
DeJoy, a major donor to President Donald Trump who took control of the agency last month, moves to eliminate overtime for hundreds of thousands of postal workers, potentially causing a delay in mail deliveries. A recent document from the Postal Service, obtained by The Associated Press, described the need for an “operational pivot” to make the cash-strapped agency financially stable.
“It’s just asinine to think that you can shut something down or throttle it back in terms of the pandemic when basically the lifeline for voting and democracy is going to be in the hands of the Postal Service,” Manchin, a Democrat, told reporters Wednesday.

He said at least two post offices in West Virginia had been scheduled to close next month but that the agency had “slowed” its plans.
A spokesman for the Postal Service referred questions to a prior statement from DeJoy, which said the agency “has experienced over a decade of financial losses, with no end in sight, and we face an impending liquidity crisis.” The statement goes on to say that “it is critical that the Postal Service take a fresh look at our operations and make necessary adjustments.”

Warren has the knowledge, experience, intellect and courage for the position, more so than anyone in the party. But there are too many ignorant and gullible Americans to vote for such a progressive candidate, who would be considered a centrist in Europe or Canada. I can hear the GOP ads already, calling her a commie etc. Harris, who is quite capable herself, might be a safer bet, although she isn't in the same league as Warren. Regardless, even a slithering reptile would be a better choice than the sleazy, slimy villain in the WH now, not to mention his criminal gang in the Senate protecting him. Heaven help us getting him out.

Senior citizens and suburban voters are sinking President Donald Trump’s campaign across the country.

But here in Pennsylvania — home to one of the largest populations of residents age 65 or older and where suburbanites comprise more than half of the electorate — their defection to Joe Biden is hurting Trump even more acutely.

    Lot's more at link.
‘Hating Joe Biden doesn’t juice up their base’: Key swing state slips away from Trump - POLITICO

The above along with many other states leave no doubt Trump and his campaign staff know they are going to lose so they are in the process of creating a crisis. Delegitimize or make it difficult for Biden supporters to vote. This is the current marching order although may have little effect on outcome. Watch for the next created crisis. Maybe start a war would be good. Iran the likely candidate.

Tammy still on the VP list I see. By far the best choice imo.

When Biden wins he will have an incredibly busy agenda repairing the damage trump has inflicted on the country, fighting the pandemic and subsequent economic damage, restoring our reputation in the world, repairing healthcare etc. He will need someone of the caliber and experience of Elizabeth Warren.
This election is going to get nasty, Warren is no wilting violet, she has a sharp wit and will put trump in his place.
Furthermore I watched congressman Clyburn(the king maker, remember he rescued Biden's nomination in SC ) being interviewed say that African americans and the country deserves a Black Supreme Justice, said nothing about a black VP In essence publicly giving Biden permission to pick a white VP.
I would be very disappointed if he picks anyone else. But I understand that before he can dance, he needs to be invited to the bowl and he already has the MA vote.

Choosing Warren would have the GOP screaming "communism, socialism" from the roof tops. In fact, the GOP is already claiming that Biden is hijacked by the group behind the green new deal. Remember that this is a party of fearmongering, not reality. Regardless, the election will be undermined by the GOP to the point that Trump will be able to justify nullifying the results, which will give the scoundrel the opportunity to send the decision to the Republican held SCOTUS.
