Bernie Sanders Is Not a Communist

“In his Fox News town hall appearance Thursday night, President Trump — apparently now resigned to Joe Biden’s primary victory — casually revealed his now-moot plan to run against Bernie Sanders. “So mentally, I’m all set for Bernie. Communist, I had everything down, he’s a communist.”

A communist! We all thought Trump’s plan was to call Bernie a socialist, a label that’s politically toxic enough. But why would Trump say something that’s actually true?

Trump’s probably-now-hypothetical red-baiting campaign against Bernie would have stood a strong chance of working, because there is a lot of confusion about Sanders’s political identity. The New York Times has a report on his Soviet-era freelance diplomacy. Sanders participated in a “sister city” program, and the Times finds Soviet-era documents showing that the government considered this program a propaganda tool to shift blame for the Cold War onto the United States. But while that may be true, the sister city program was not considered subversive or even radical. Even Ronald Reagan supported it”.

What I don't understand is why libel and slander laws don't come into this . . . especially calling someone corrupt

Read the article. You’ll find out it’s as much about Trump and his followers as it is about Bernie.

American people are made scared that they would be on the way to communism - God forbid.

Better to let the "electors" made the choice of a billionaire and keep as before the Food Stamps, the homeless cities, student debts, you name it, hasn't it work always OK? (at least for some...)

Some Americans have such a misconception of 'Socialism' that the mere mention of it sees them running in fear to support a wannabe dictator with authoritarian overtones who openly flouts the Constitution and moots reducing personal freedoms.

Meanwhile they happily continue on using such 'Socialist' things as public works, police and fire services without batting an eye-lid (unless for whatever reason they're not there or sufficient and then they cry about being let down by the gubbmint).

It's not just him. It's a well organised apparatus involving baldy orange cunto, the Republican party and a mass of PACs.

And a large number of gullible American TV viewers will believe what they hear without question (and that isn't just trumpanzees).

Most of them could not even explain correctly what it is and would just try to blurt out something like "That's what they got in dat dere country Venzualia or some cotton pickin place". That's just what the right wing oligarchs want. They do not want to pay for universal health care and the other things that most European countries expect as the norm, they don't want a well regulated capitalist system that would prevent/breakup many of the monopolies of industry we have in the US etc etc. So keep the sheeple dumbed down as to what it really is and make it something to be afriad of.

Thing is that most of the sheeple do not even realize those thing are actually socialism. They also do not realize that Socialism is already in America and the truth is that the biggest examples of socialism is for the rich in the form of subsidies, tax cuts, bailing out the banks and wall street etc. The poor subsidizes the rich in the form of tax dollars.

At least in the rest of the developed world the socialist programs they have help the average citizen and not the .001% like they do in the US.

Biden cant beat Trump. I really believe that. He will even lose the popular vote. Too too many people are sick of what happened 4 years ago and dont want the "old" corporate Democrats anymore.. The USA is reminding me more and more of here. Old dinosaurs trying to hold on to power for dear life. Sad situation..

Very close, AO. I'm of this belief, as well. Given a head-to-head match among traditional establishment foes, the incumbent would take old Joe easily going away and more than likely defeat Bernie - only because of the repeated and invented stigma that is attached to Senator Sanders....and has become an obvious threat to the greater political/media/social establishment circles.

I found Senator Warren to be the most engaging and "alternative" choice, even though she's firmly entrenched within The Club.
Congresswoman Gabbard sparked some personal interest - if she ever stood a chance - as a true viable alternative choice.

Nothing changes. Same old cycles. And the Presidents morph into the same old design of the controllers. No difference. All the same, if not prior to entering the WH, they become enveloped in the establishment agenda. There is no historic precedent and no escape.

There is really NO CHOICE, is there......never has been.

The cycling dinosaur systems are virtually the same the world over.

I respect your opinion, AO but I think you’re wrong. Americans want a return to normalcy, more than anything. I’m not a Biden fan, but that’s what he represents. Not enough Americans have bought into Bernie’s ideas, and the Republican attack machine will go into hyperdrive if he wins the nomination. Trailer trash across America will come out of the woodwork in opposition, and in support of the orange buffoon.
There’s a reason why Biden is getting all the endorsements.
Yes, a few are vying for cabinet positions, but they also believe he has the best chance of taking down Trump.

Can only speak for myself but IMHO who Biden picks for his VP could put him past tRump or ultimately sink his boat. I was all set to vote for McCain in 2008 until he picked bat shit crazy Palin for his running mate.

Only the statistics of the Democratic voters will tell the true story. But do carry on Bsnub trashing everyone you don’t agree with, easy to see why you have burned bridges,I am guessing more than you can count.

Maybe you could share links connecting Kristan to homophobia and big tobacco.

I will not break bread with cowards like yourself and others in on the right who do not have the courage to stand up against the orange moron. You are cowards who do not respect the institutions of the country and will be held to account by history.

Since she is a member of that organization she is guilty by association.

Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) is a small nonprofit organization geared toward student libertarians. It formed after the 2008 presidential campaign of former libertarian Rep. Ron Paul (TX) as a continuation of “Students For Ron Paul.” YAL claims to support a network of “more than 900 chapters nationwide” on college and high school campuses, providing materials and resources to help students organize events to communicate “the problems with income redistribution through satire,” “educate your fellow students about the zombies in government who need to feed on the living to survive” (a Halloween-themed activity), and encourage the “right to self defense” and access to weapons on campuses to “prevent a violent crime from ever happening.” The list of “strategic partners” on YAL’s website is a lengthy encyclopedia of Koch-backed think tanks and advocacy groups, and it also includes the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Students for Liberty, and Young America’s Foundation. YAL also hosts an annual conference; the 2016 conference featured speakers including former Rep. Paul, Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), and Fox News’ Andrew Napolitano. YAL’s foundation arm appears to receive the bulk of its funding from the Charles Koch Foundation and DonorsTrust.
    Usual right wing suspects.
