    Shots fired...

Trump went off on another of his nonsensical rants, something about Bloomberg wanting to use a box to stand on at the debates, and the Bloomberg campaign responded:

“The president is lying, he is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.”

All a bit silly but probably past time someone just came right out and attacked Trump for what he is.

They can't even report over the phone. What a fucking mess.

Anyway it looks like Sanders is the clear winner based on results so far.

Sure is in so many ways. Iowa would be the last state I would pick to be first contest for nomination. Hardly represents the diversity found in the US. Time for big changes.
Rotate first state each election cycle.
Let folks vote in a bloody booth.

The first contest is far too important for candidates. A win means big bump in fundraising which will make or break a run.

Beware of hacking by (please no names here)...

Iowa’s Republican and Democratic caucuses rely almost entirely on paper records, but Democrats also maintain a website where people can check in early to save time in line. | Brendan Hoffman/Getty Images

The Iowa caucuses on Monday night are practically as low-tech as elections come, involving the least-hackable voting process imaginable: People gathering in rooms and writing their choice on paper.

But the first contest of the 2020 presidential race still represents a high-profile test of whether election officials, political parties and security experts are ready for another wave of cyberattacks, after Russian hackers revealed dangerous weaknesses in 2016. And despite assurances from both the Democratic and Republican parties that they’ve taken extensive steps to prepare, experts say attackers have plenty of opportunities to disrupt the democratic process.

Their concern: While caucus-goers may make their preferences known with paper, those tallies will then move through a series of electronic hand-offs, from the apps on precinct volunteers’ smartphones to the computers and websites that report the results. The process also relies on the integrity of Iowa’s voter registration database and, for the Democrats, an online check-in platform. These systems all require vigilance against intrusions, and the phone apps in particular have created controversy — but the political parties have offered almost no details about how they’re protecting them.

Failure to keep out hackers could result in malfunctioning apps that slow down or thwart the results-reporting process, state parties receiving bogus information or party websites that are defaced or manipulated to crown the wrong winner.

“If there is value, there will be an attack,” said Duncan Buell, a computer science professor and voting security expert at the University of South Carolina, who has documented flaws in vote-counting software in his home state. “And whether to change the results or just to disrupt the process, there is value in attacking the Iowa caucus.”

Do you really think the corrupt DNC will allow someone with a mind set like Sanders,Warren,or Yang represent them in November?

if memory serves, there was a resolution in the iowa state govt. a few years back which stipulated that iowa must always be the first contest. if another state were to move their caucus or primary before iowa, then iowa would be required by state law to move its caucus date to precede that other state. no idea if it passed or not, but if i had to guess, it probably did.

make no mistake, being first in the nation is a financial windfall for iowa. not only because of the campaigns buying ads on tv & radio, increased traffic in the hotels, restaurants, etc... there's also the ethanol subsidies that would have been cut years ago if iowa were lumped into 'super tuesday'.

the flip side of the argument is that it's good for candidates to have to go out and meet individual voters face-to-face like they do in iowa.

but iowa and nh are just so goddamn white.

one proposal that makes sense to me would be to have the first four contests on a revolving schedule.

latinos in NV and african americans in SC also deserve to have their voices heard first.

Works for me. Agree, caucuses have an upside, but as you point out let's have states that look more like America. Combined the 4 caucus states do that. Small states contributing only 155 delegates to the total of 3,979 but because they are up front, have huge impact.

Something needs change. Only winner out of this disaster is Trump as he tweets.

"The Democrat Caucus is an unmitigated disaster. Nothing works, just like they ran the Country. Remember the 5 Billion Dollar Obamacare Website, that should have cost 2% of that. The only person that can claim a very big victory in Iowa last night is “Trump”.

What does that that have to do with the corrupt DNC selecting a presidential candidate?

Well surprisingly Mayor Pete is leading with 71% counted. Then it turns out that he's spent $35 million in recent weeks. Betting the farm?

They aren't my DNC and equating what they did to Sanders with the GOP allowing a corrupt president to run roughshod over democracy and the Constitution in the US is not only fallacious but very much a part of the how and why they can get away with it.

    People like you are complicit.

People like me are complicit in preventing the US from becoming a failed socialist country.

Sorry, not to be antagonistic , but you and I see what Trump has done, assuming you are referring to the Ukrain debacle, from a totally different perspective. Your hatred for Trump has completely blinded you from the possibility of an unbiased perspective.
