the fairy is too reasonable and sensible to be elected POTUS,

people wants crazy, so it's Trump and possibly Bloomberg if he starts to play crazy too

Biden un-electable, deep state, he is like Bush Senior, the dangerous hand of the King, despite being the best candidate

Democrats need to accept these 3 truths to beat Trump in 2020

    Key Points

    • Now that we’re just a few weeks away from the Iowa caucuses and the real start to the 2020 voting process, there are still three basic facts the Democrats need to accept if they hope to have any chance to win the White House.

Now that we’re just a few weeks away from the Iowa caucuses and the real start to the 2020 voting process, there are still three basic facts the Democrats need to accept if they hope to have any chance to win the White House.

If you are a Democrat reading this, I warn you that this isn’t going to be easy. But no pain, no gain. So here goes:

Trump didn’t steal the 2016 election

Let’s start with what is still the toughest pill to swallow for Democrats: Trump won the White House fair and square.

The economy is doing well, even for the little guy

Whether they deserve it or not, Democrats have consistently been viewed by most American voters as the party that is more concerned with the poor and lower middle-income earners in this country.

In many ways, that’s been a golden ticket to victory for Democrats in almost every major election.

They only seem to mess it up when a Democratic administration presides over a worsening economy, (like under Jimmy Carter in 1980), or when Democratic candidates latch on to non-economic themes like social issues or foreign policy.

    Stop denigrating the voters

Even mediocre students of American history should know that politics in this country have always been nasty. If you don’t believe that, do a little reading about the election of 1800 between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
But the nastiness has really only been effective when it’s directed at opposing candidates or parties. One of the rules just about every major American politician has followed is to never actually go after the opposing candidate’s or party’s voters. It’s an important distinction.

    ---

Now Ray, this is just for you.

The above is an opinion piece and, like most articles, a wall of text.

I've picked out the highlights so that, if it piques the readers interest they can go to the article and read more.

I'm sure that concept is easy enough even for you to grasp.

Elizabeth Warren’s campaign sounds the alarm as fundraising pace slows about 30% in fourth quarter

    Key Points

    • Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s campaign told supporters in an email on Friday that, so far, it has raised just over $17 million in the fourth quarter, a significant drop from her fundraising haul during the third quarter.
    • If the $17 million total stands that would represent a 30% drop from the previous quarter. The quarter ends in four days.
    • The development comes after Warren’s momentum in the Democratic primary race slowed down in recent months. At one point she was virtually neck-and-neck with Joe Biden at the top of national polling averages.

yeah, by someone named jake novak.

who the fuck is jake novak and why should i care what he thinks?

and i should point out that i feel very confident in suggesting that 99.9% of americans would also say, 'who the fuck is jake novak'.

so i clicked on his cnbc bio...

Jake Novak is the host of the Nachum Segal Network’s, “Novak Now,” a weekly, half-hour look at news that has an impact on the Jewish world and Israel. Novak is a weekly guest on i24 News TV, a frequent commentator on the Mark Simone Show on WOR radio in New York, and is a former senior editorial columnist for CNBC.com.

here's my initial take away from his bio....

a guy who 99.9% of americans have never heard of, is trying to showcase his bona fides by listing the 'nacham seigal network", "i24 news TV", and the "Mark Simone Show"....which, yeah you guessed it.....99.9% of americans have never heard of.

    great link, dave.

but let me take a moment to quickly refute the 3 main points....

    1. trump solicited foreign interference (on camera) in the run up to 2016 election....which for anyone who knows anything about US politics and policy, is cheating.
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ump-indictment

    2. blue collar and middle class american aren't really benefiting from trump's tax cuts for the 1%. yeah, there are loads of minimum wage, service economy jobs...the only problem is that middle class americans need to work more than two of them to make ends meet.
    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...lass-pay-gains

    3. complete and utter nonsense....and the jewish, new yorker who wrote this crap should know that better.

^ Dearest Ray, as I stated, it's an opinion piece.

You may agree, you may not, your name maybe is reach-a-round Ray Carey or it may not.

Here's newsflash for you, I reckon that reach-a-round Ray is a "a guy who 99.9% of americans have never heard of,"

    ---

What is worrying about your post, with your attitude , is the inferred 'win' by you with the GIF above implying that,
in your mind, you 'won' the argument with the author of the opinion piece above.

Thus, congratulating yourself in your newfound confidence that the Democrats are set to win the next election.

It's that same sort of arrogant confidence that Clinton took into her contest with Trump ... and lost the election.

Ray, up to you You can kick back in your smugness, confidant that NO WAY would the USA re-elect Trump.

... but that is what the Democrats thought for the last election ... which they lost.

What might be more wearisome/creepy are the ideals of invented political identities and the obsessiveness that many hang onto.
As if there's a significant difference.

So JFK and LBJ were not worth a shit? If it wasn't for either of them the civil rights act would have never passed and there would be no medicare/aid.

I agree with Ray it definitionally matters. I do not want a bunch of far right nutjob judges on the federal level and I damn sure don't want them on the Supreme court. Ruth Bager Ginsberg is 86 and has health issues, Stephen Bryer is 81. Both need to be replaced soon and hopefully by a sane democratic president. Those are just a couple examples why it matters.

i'm genuinely surprised by norton's cynical take on this.

when others (e.g. the cuck and the coprophiliac) make this statement, it's little more than a mix of ignorance and indolence.

OK - 2019 is History - done, finished Stick a Fork in It.

Here We Go - Charging Straight Into 2020 - A US Presidential Election Year - hmm...

We have an incumbent president running for reelection. We have the stock market kicking ass, record low unemployment, and quite a healthy reelection campaign war chest - yup the green just keeps rollin' in. The futures so bright Trumps gotta wear shades.

The repubs are already lookin' at 2024...

Stock market notches best annual gain since 2013
    BY NAOMI JAGODA - 12/31/19
Stocks in 2019 gained almost 29 percent, the most in six years, according to CNBC.
After Tuesday's closing bell, the S&P 500 index was just shy of the 29.6 percent increase in 2013.
The Nasdaq composite also saw its best annual gain since 2013, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up about 22 percent, the most since 2017, CNBC reported.
In Tuesday's trading session, the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow Jones all rose close to 0.3 percent.
Analysts attributed some of 2019's performance to a drop in stock prices at the end of last year but said the increases were nonetheless solid.
The gains put President Trump in a strong position as he seeks reelection in 2020 amid the backdrop of low unemployment.

U.S. Unemployment Rate Falls to 50-Year Low October 4, 2019
Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released its monthly Employment Situation Report, which shows robust employment growth in September. Job gains are particularly noteworthy considering that the United States is in the midst of the longest economic recovery in its history. The Trump Administration’s pro-growth agenda provides job creators with the framework they need to expand their businesses and offer more opportunities for workers. Since the President’s election, the economy has added over 6.4 million jobs—more than the population of Maryland. Steady job growth in combination with sustained year-over-year wage increases are not only positive signs for the economy: They also improve workers’ quality of life and incentivize previously left-behind Americans to join the labor force.

^On the surface all those look like positive points for Trump, and I'm certain they will fill all the memes and messages on Trumper's FB pages for the next 11 months.

This may help in keeping his base from unraveling but it won't change the minds of the other 60% of Americans who will not vote for him. 2020 could be a repeat of 2016 with Trump winning key states and taking the electoral college vote and still losing the popular vote again, but it doesn't matter if the Senate still has a GOP majority. We will just continue as we have the past 2 years until America hits a wall and it all goes to shit.

The wealth disparity, a broken health "care" system that bankrupts folks left and right, stalled wages, people working 2 or 3 jobs to survive, corps not paying taxes, a judicial system that favors the ultra-wealthy, gun owners, and pro-lifers, the slow disintegration of our infrastructure, our continued tax payments to a bloated military budget, the reduction of payments to services that help people--these are what will continue to plague the U.S. if Trump is re-elected.

The same mistakes that were made a hundred years ago are now being made again, so it will be very likely another 1929 event is on the horizon.

Julian Castro drops out of the Democrats' 2020 presidential race, saying 'it isn't our time'

    2020 US Presidential Race-10711946-3x2-700x467-jpg

Julian Castro, the grandson of a Mexican immigrant who became San Antonio mayor and a US housing secretary, has suspended his 2020 Democratic presidential run in a race overshadowed by more famous liberals.

    Key points:
    • Mr Castro was a fierce critic of Donald Trump and championed immigrants' rights
    • He had struggled to raise money and build a profile in the crowded Democrat race
    • His departure could magnify criticism about the Democrats' lack of diversity

The departure of the only Latino from the campaign, a month or so ahead of early nominating contests in Iowa and New Hampshire, leaves 14 Democratic candidates seeking the party's nomination to take on Republican President Donald Trump in November.

Mr Castro, 45, a rising star in the Democratic Party, did not garner enough support to compete against better-known candidates, including leading progressive candidates US Senators Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

Early indications suggest Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who is polling at 17.8 per cent, is still far and away the best Democratic fundraiser.

Senator Sanders claims to have attracted more individual contributions from more Americans than any other candidate in the history of US politics.

    A very republican trait.
