if there is a second wave of the virus in the fall, people aren't going to want to queue up in high school gymnasiums and libraries to touch a bunch of voting machines that literally hundreds or thousands of other people touched earlier in the day...which is going to lead to lower turnout on election day. so, democrats are trying to get funding for states to implement voting by mail and 'no excuse' absentee voting. republicans are going to do everything they can to block this funding and there's a good chance they'll be moderately successful. trump has already come out and said he's against voting by mail.... he claims it leads to fraud, but the reality is that it leads to increased participation...which the data shows is bad for republicans.

operatives on both sides of the partisan divide agree that there are only six states that are truly competitive in 2020 (florida, north carolina, arizona, michigan, pennsylvania and wisconsin) and they will determine the winner of the electoral college. all of those state already have election laws on the books which allow voting by mail and 'no excuse' absentee ballots. so, even if trump and the senate block the required funding, it won't matter in the states that matter most in 2020.

and about the 'no excuse' absentee ballots.....some states require that you give a reason why you need an absentee ballot (e.g. you're overseas in the military, you're temporarily in another state taking care of a sick relative, etc...) but the 'no excuse' law doesn't require you to give a reason...all you have to do is request the ballot, and your state is required by law to send it to you.

as I predicted, Presidential Election might be suspended for the first time in US History

what's the protocol if election can't be carried out? VP takes over? Pelopsi takes over?

or do they carry a vote directly with the grand votes without the popular votes?

Biden’s best choice for VP is … - David Honig - Medium

David Honig is a legit journalist.

Hit the link and give it a read.

Surprising choice but Honig’s explanation has merit.

    In summary...from your link:

Val Demings. More than anybody else, she gives Biden the best chance to win in 2010.

    2010? WTF?

biden's going for the the throat with this campaign ad:

it would be illegal, of course, but i can't help but think that bloomberg's people had something to do with this ad.

Trumps near a lock for four more years, can’t say I like the man but I do like his policies, many are long overdue.

He won’t have to concede anything, he will win easily. Just as in the last election, the media, poles etc. woefully underestimate his support base. It interesting, the socialists, liberals and media in general are so radically opposed to Trump they create an environment of hostility towards anyone that expresses anything in favor of the man or his policies. Therefore most of the supporters (moderates) I know simply nod their head and say yeah..yeah, not wanting to bear the ridicule.

i was wrong. i was thinking about the laws for political action committees.

bloomberg's hawkfish digital firm is still in the running to create ads for the biden campaign.

As I understand it, Super PACs can spend what they like on ads, they are just not allowed to coordinate with or fund the candidates campaigns.

as far as i know, that's how it works.

i was wrong in thinking that bloomberg's people were working for a Super PAC, when it's (in theory) an independent ad firm....'hawkfish'

You are probably right and the near 100% media focus on the virus which will continue beyond November will help Trump win.

Won't be an easy win though and as last time leave the country divided even further than it is now.

Expect another 4 years of Trump. Something we need to complete the total disaster he has done to the country domestically and internationally.

Not that I disagree but have to ask ... in terms of voter turnout what does “divided even further” suggest?

Wasn't referring to voter turn out but expect as last time, he will win electoral vote and lose popular vote. Note the Supreme Court is looking at electoral vote as we speak and expect they will judge to make electors vote as they are intended to.

In most states, electors - typically party loyalists - must pledge to vote for their party’s candidate if that person wins state’s popular vote.

As 2020 presidential contest looms, U.S. Supreme Court mulls power of 'electors' - Reuters

The divided comment I used above referred to another 4 years of the nasty division between the Trump supporters and his detractors.

Ignore the polls imo. They will be no better than last election in predicting the winner.
