I think this whole primary system thing is way too drawn-out, painful, boring and bizarre but I did read an interesting comment about it all from an NZ (or was it Aust??) perspective.

The gist being we (i.e. Kiwis) see our politicians well-drilled, coached and presented about 3 mths prior to an election when they've been prepped to deal with everything. There are few if any surprises that come out of any of it.

By contrast these poor bastards are subjected to a prolonged grilling under all kinds of circumstances and duress via primaries even before the election so voters get an opportunity to see them deal with the pressure of seven shades of shit being thrown at them and just about every conceivable circumstance and how they handle it all.

Hard to argue with that point really.

David what is your total fascination with the American election? Add up delegates from California, Texas and Colorado and tell me Biden is in the lead. Bernie will carry all three. Biden is doing well in states with heavy black populations. Do a little research on what is really going on mate.
At the end of the day lets simply total the delegates than were won today on super Tuesday and add them to the primaries already won. You are saying Biden will be in the lead. No he wont..

Bernie will remain in lead. This is looking to end in a contested nomination with super delegates determining the winner. Not good for the Dems cuz the losing supporters may stay home in Nov and not vote. Something which will give Trump a win as it did when he ran against Hillary.

AO ... I'm interested because I invest in the World Stock Market which looks often to the US Stock Market which has, in this past years, been heavily influenced by the White house.

My investments aren't of Dillinger-ese nature, but it's a fair wack of coin and, in a decade or two when I retire I want to ski* fat.

I went ALL cash Friday week ago (because of the heightening risk to the World Economy of the Coronavirus) and thus dodged the recent slides in the World Markets.

TBH, I can't time the market every time, but, to date, I'm beating the investment managers running my 401k/Super Account.

Joe Biden wins Arkansas and Minnesota

Minnesota is Amy Klobuchar's home state, and she was the favourite to
take it before she dropped out of the race.

That's an important win for Biden there.

Biden's crushing it with a key demographic

    2020 US Presidential Race-c2142913-249e-4fe2-9751-7fed1ca84cdf-png

Biden's big wins in southern states like Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee
can be attributed in part to his success with African-American voters,
who make up double-digit shares of the voters in those states.

Exit polls show Biden consistently winning around 7 in 10 African-American voters.

... an African-American Biden supporter who said that his big win in South Carolina
will be seen as the very reason he did so well tonight.

"I think he's about bringing the country together.
A few weeks ago, I wasn't so sure, but I really think he's gonna take it all now,
    " she said.

    How long will it take?

Ukraine investigators open case into Joe Biden's role in firing of top prosecutor
    February 29, 2020

Ukrainian investigators have begun an inquiry into then-Vice President Joe Biden over allegations that he pressured officials into firing a top prosecutor in 2016.

A case revolving around Biden, now a Democratic candidate for president, was opened by the State Bureau of Investigations on a court order following a January appeal for action by Viktor Shokin, the dismissed prosecutor general's lawyer, Oleksandr Teleshetsky, told the Washington Post.

“They need to investigate this. They have no other alternative. They are required to do this by the decision of the court. If they don't, then they violate a whole string of procedural norms,” Teleshetsky said.

The State Bureau of Investigations confirmed an inquiry was opened. The case mentions only a U.S. citizen and does not refer to Biden by name.

Bernie Sanders sails to victory in delegate-prize California

Bernie Sanders trounced his 2020 Democratic presidential competition in California, securing the biggest delegate-prize of Super Tuesday.

Sanders was declared the winner in California, home to 415 delegates, shortly after polls closed at 10 p.m. EST. A total of 1,991 delegates are needed to win the Democratic nomination at the party's convention this summer.

The Vermont senator, 78, had been polling well in the state after losing it in the 2016 primary cycle against then-Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, with the former secretary of state clinching 53.07% of the vote to Sanders's 46.04%.

The victory caps off a mixed night for Sanders. He won his home state of Vermont, followed by Colorado and Utah, but lost battleground states such as North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, and Tennessee to resurgent Joe Biden, the two-term vice president.

^ Polls close and ten minutes later Commiefornia calls it for Bernie ...

Proportional distribution of delegates will ultimately dampen the celebration.

    What happened to Warren?

Super Tuesday has been about as bad as it could have been for Elizabeth Warren.
She even lost her home state.

    Speaking to supporters, she said:

"Prediction has been a terrible business and the pundits have gotten it wrong over and over".
"You don't get what you don't fight for. I am in this fight," she added.

Warren also said she would go on to fight until this time next week, when six more states vote.

Warren, who was once a top contender in the primary race, likely already faced significant pressure to end her campaign before the poll was released.
She finished third place in the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucus, fourth in New Hampshire and Nevada, and fifth in South Carolina.

“The pundits have gotten it wrong over and over,” Warren told a crowd of supporters in Detroit earlier Tuesday night.

remember that clinton lost the electoral college because of the results in WI, MI and PA.

trump won the popular vote in those states by a total of 78,000 votes. again, total votes of all three states. you can fit 78,000 people in a college football stadium.

minority voting was way down in those states in '16 for a variety of reasons, but long story short, minorities (particularly blacks) stayed home.

biden is inherently strong in those states--particularly with black voters.

there's a reason trump manufactured the biden/ukraine nonsense.....he knows biden can beat him in WI, MI and PA.
