so, they've spent at least $152 million on advertising in 2019.

on average that's more than $500,000 a day.

and they still can't get trump close to 50% in any reputable national poll....and he's way under water in the states likely to decide the election.

if they're not nervous about this, they should be.

he got royally fucked over by the DNC in 2016, but nothing is going to change that and he needs to step aside now.

Yep, and that is probably going to give Warren a massive boost.

Put your feet up Bernie, no point in dying trying.

Have to agree mostly with both comments.

I respect Bernie and, as Harry says ... no point in dying trying.

Who knows if the the US will ever see someone as sincere as Bernie again. He's walked the walk for over 40 years, railing against wealth privilege and the exploitation of working and disadvantaged people by a system that only benefits them as an afterthought.

Maybe if AOC can survive another 12 years we'll get another chance at electing a decent President.

I think Warren means what she says. It's why she's the candidate that frightens Wall Street the most.

Forget my spat with reach-a-round ... Warren is coming into serious contention.

The question I'm asking is ... are Warren's policies to far to the left?

Can she attract the swinging voters, well, motivate them at least to vote?

Her policy of cancelling Student Debt ... is sheer fucking left wing lunacy.

The Economist reported in June 2014 that U.S. student loan debt exceeded $1.2 trillion with over 7 million debtors in default.
In 2014, there was approximately $1.3 trillion of outstanding student loan debt in the U.S. that affected 44 million borrowers who had an average outstanding loan balance of $37,172.
... so that's 2.5 TRILLION of non-productive debt she is asking the USA to fund.

What about the future ... free University Education?

I think your math might be off there, those are loan balances for seperate years innit?

In which case the balance now would be around $1.4-5 trillion. Still a lot of money granted but maybe they could recoup some of it from the $1+ trillion military budget. Education is surely more importantererer than killing poor brown people in their countries.

Edit: Google tells me current US student debt (as of 2018) is $1.5 trillion

It is far from lunacy and it is needed. Warrens plan to tax the rich will more than cover the cost of it. That debt is a strangle hold on the people that hold it and the economy as well.

I remember when they brought in student loans in NZ, right at the time I was at uni unfortunately. We were 'sold' the idea by people who had their education paid for on the public purse and called spoiled and entitled because we protested being made to pay.

Nowadays when they effects are really being compounded those same people look down at Gen X and millennials who are saddled with massive debts and unable to get on the property ladder etc., call them spoiled and entitled, and make derogatory comments about smashed avocado that completely miss the point.

I paid for my Uni Degree on the Student Loan basis.

No complaints here ... fair and equitable.

You paid it back once your Salary reached a threshold and were offered a discount if paid it back early.

It never felt onerous to me ... maybe the US system is different?

Can't say mine was overly onerous either, around $30k, however when you come out of uni saddled with a debt before you even have a job it has a knock-on effect and that's what we're seeing these days. Kids graduating into a worsening job market with massive debts and little to no hope of getting on to the property ladder and all kinds of other negative effects on the general economy and they're being called lazy and feckless by some that had everything handed to them.

That's such a ridiculous thing to say when they have no trouble at all finding trillions for a military that squanders it by the bucketload, or for tax cuts for wealthy individuals and corporations.

1.2 trillion of debt relief frees that money up to be spent elsewhere. And the US economy is heavily dependent on consumer spending.

    Student debt:

Recommend to read The Rooster Bar by John Grisham. Although a fiction, it's quite enlightening about the student debts

you must be remarkably well informed on student loan plans, policies and regulations in the US to make this statement.

    SPOILER ALERT.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rooster_Bar

    He based it on this:

    https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine...l-scam/375069/

"What had happened? Florida Coastal is a for-profit law school, and in his presentation to its faculty, Frakt had catalogued disturbing trends in the world of for-profit legal education. This world is one in which schools accredited by the American Bar Association admit large numbers of severely underqualified students; these students in turn take out hundreds of millions of dollars in loans annually, much of which they will never be able to repay. Eventually, federal taxpayers will be stuck with the tab, even as the schools themselves continue to reap enormous profits."

That actually looks pretty interesting, don't mind me some Grisham might check that one out.

Randomly reminds me that Boon Mee used to constantly post that I'd failed the bar exam. He was technically correct I suppose being that NZ doesn't have a bar exam so I'd never taken a bar exam and hence hadn't 'passed' but it was news to me.

I'm also pretty sure he's legit mildly retarded.
