Talk about falling on your own sword, there are Republicans in the House and Senate who still support the criminal-in-chief after he tried to overthrow the election with fraudulent votes in Georgia. The election is over. This is a coup and is treasonous. We need to make an example out of these criminals. Hang'em high, all of them, by their lying tongues.

    This is huge

A recording of the one-hour call was released Sunday by the Washington Post. The president is heard pressuring Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes” that would put him in the lead over President-elect Joe Biden in Georgia, which has already certified its results.

Trump also threatens Raffensperger with the possibility of criminal charges unless he comes up with the votes to overturn the election results

"You know, that’s a criminal — that’s a criminal offense. And you know, you can’t let that happen,” Trump says on the call. “That’s a big risk to you and to Ryan, your lawyer. That’s a big risk.”

The Post did not say who recorded the call or how it obtained the tape.

Trump offered no direct evidence of voter fraud in Georgia, instead offering second-hand conspiracy theories about manipulated voting machines, ballots being scanned multiple times and votes simply being thrown out — all of which were investigated by Georgia law enforcement and the FBI, and found to be untrue. But Trump went beyond trying to prove that he won the state by “hundreds of thousands of votes,” pressuring Raffensperger to simply announce a new vote total showing him beating Biden.

There’s nothing wrong with saying that, you know, that you’ve recalculated,” the president said.
    Yeah right,
"oops, sorry, made a mistake, we recalculated and there's actually 12000 more votes for Trump so he wins, sorry about that"

    Trump's lost his fucking mind.

Trump's 'less-than-perfect' call to Georgia officials could also be a crime

I am just listening to excerpts of Trump's audio recording demanding votes to be overturned, amongst other demands and threats, and he is stuttering and speaking without the confident tones he normally orally projects.

The man is mentally deranged and his party should make moves to silence the sick idiot.

I agree. It's a subtle difference, since he is, at his best, an unhinged moron, but this does sound as if he's either drunk, or more likely, losing what's left of his feeble mind.

Somebody on the Dems side has to step up and file a suit against Trump for this. Its time..............................

He has done the below in spades..

Trump’s actions could constitute election fraud. Section 52 of the U.S. Code concerns voting and elections, and provides for a sentence of up to five years for:
“A person, including an election official, who in any election for Federal office
    (1) knowingly and willfully intimidates, threatens, or coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any person for-
    (A) registering to vote, or voting, or attempting to register or vote;
    (B) urging or aiding any person to register to vote, to vote, or to attempt to register or vote; or
    (C) exercising any right under this chapter; or
    (2) knowingly and willfully deprives, defrauds, or attempts to deprive or defraud the residents of a State of a fair and impartially conducted election process, by
    (A) the procurement or submission of voter registration applications that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held; or
    (B) the procurement, casting, or tabulation of ballots that are known by the person to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held.”

Not until the next 17 days have passed. Then they can file all the suits they want.

Ten former Pentagon chiefs warn Donald Trump against involving military in pursuing election fraud claims

In an extraordinary rebuke of President Donald Trump, all 10 living former secretaries of defence have cautioned against any move to involve the military in pursuing claims of election fraud.

    Key points:

    • The 10 chiefs warned against using the military to change the election outcome
    • The article came after conversations on how the military might be used in coming days
    • Joe Biden has complained of efforts by officials to obstruct his transition to office

The 10 men, a mix of Democrats and Republicans, said it would take the country into "dangerous, unlawful and unconstitutional territory."

Republican Senator Tom Cotton won't object to electoral college votes

The Senator from Arkansas has just dropped this statement, announcing that he won't back his colleagues' push to overturn the election results on Thursday despite sharing their concerns about "irregularities in the presidential election".

"The Founders entrusted our elections chiefly to the states — not Congress. They entrusted the election of our president to the people, acting through the Electoral College — not Congress," Cotton says in the statement.

Cotton is a significant voice here, because he's not only one of Trump's allies in the Senate, he's also viewed as a 2024 hopeful for Republicans.
He got a prime speaking gig at this year's Republican Convention, if you can can cast your memory back to August.

So this is another Republican with clout backing away from the push to object to the results.

Makes you wonder when a republican is going to say fuck it and sieze the anti-trump ground in the party. So far they all seem to be basically coat tail politicians.

Chaney and Sasse both young, articulate politicians with asparations to run for Prez in the not too distant future.
I believe either will find a fair amount of support to run with a good chance of winning.
    Imagine a Republican female Prez.

Qualities that are not valued in the Republican party. After all, the Republicans don't want to get into meaningful debates about economics beyond their rhetoric. They prefer older, white males with a regressive agenda, like Reagan, George W. Bush or Trump, all of whom have proven to be most inarticulate, if not illiterate.

Were not, I agree but the times they are a changing. Trump may well be the impetus that forces change to "conserativism".

Also, although not near as severe, the Dems have some divisions needing resolution. Biden will have his hands full appeasing the various factions in the party.

IMO, unless the Democrats will the two Senate seats in Georgia and gain majority in both houses, the next four years are going to be a cluster fuck in America. Why do you think all these Republicans are willing to contest the Electoral college count, they know they have no chance of winning they are just setting up the stage of abstractionism on the bases that Biden's presidency is illegitimate.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

What was that someone was saying about Scotland ?

Official plane used by Trump will fly to Scotland just before Biden inauguration – report
Arrival of military plane president has occasionally used fuels questions over Trump’s plans for 20 January.

The murk surrounding Donald Trump’s likely whereabouts on his last day as president has thickened considerably with news that an official plane he has used in the past is due to fly to Scotland the day before Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Trump himself is sticking to his refusal to accept his decisive electoral defeat. He has been caught cajoling election officials to “find” thousands of extra votes and is encouraging his supporters to gather for a “wild” day of protest on Wednesday when Congress is due to ratify the result.

The White House has refused to say what he will do when Biden is inaugurated on 20 January, raising the question of whether Trump will even leave the building voluntarily.

Most Trump-watchers expect him to dodge any event that would involve acknowledging his election loss. They predict he will stage a spectacular diversion to detract from Biden’s first day on the job.

Many versions of that scenario have the outgoing president flying to his private club in Florida, Mar-a-Lago. But Scotland’s Sunday Post has reported that Prestwick airport, near Trump’s Turnberry golf course resort, has been told to expect a US military Boeing 757 that has occasionally been used by Trump, on 19 January.

The report said that speculation over a possible inauguration day drama has been fuelled by sightings of US military surveillance aircraft circling Turnberry for a week in November, doing possible advance work.

“It is usually a sign Trump is going to be somewhere for an extended period,” the Post quoted an unnamed source as saying.

The 757 is a smaller, narrower plane than the Boeing 747-200Bs that are normally designated Air Force One. It is more often used by the vice-president and first lady, Melania Trump, than the president.
