I see Texas Republicans are doing their best to suppress votes.... again.

On Wednesday, the Texas Supreme Court decided that state residents who are worried about contracting COVID-19 while waiting to vote in the November national elections don't qualify under current state rules to receive a mail-in ballot.

However, the court's majority opinion essentially says that it's up to voters to decide whether they qualify for a mail-in ballot and that election officials can simply take a voter at their word if their application for mail-in ballot says they do qualify.

The decision potentially sets up a legal issue, especially since Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has said that healthy voters who seek mail-in ballots could be criminally prosecuted for election fraud.

Texas state law only allows residents to receive a mail-in ballot if they are over the age of 65, are in jail or have a physical or medical condition that impairs them from voting.

Plaintiffs in the case of the Texas Democratic Party v. DeBeauvoir said that everyone has a "physical condition" of being susceptible of contracting COVID-19 in public places. However, Texas government officials representing the Travis County Clerk said that fear of contracting COVID-19 isn't a physical condition and thus isn't a legitimate reason to receive a mail-in ballot.
Texas Supreme Court Says It Won't Allow Voters Afraid of COVID-19 to Mail in Election Ballots

all things considered, i think warren is the best VP choice to help get biden to 270...and the person most ready to take the oath of office if necessary.

well, george floyd's murder put the final nail in klobuchar's chances for VP.

but her odds had to be in the single digits anyway.

warren carries obvious risks, but i still think it's the way to go.....but it definitely makes me nervous.

    fuck.

If he wants the black vote, Stacey Abrams is the way to go.

sure, but there's more to it than that....and when the goal is 270, that's not the only consideration.

Demimgs is the better choice to get those Obama voters who sat out 2016 back voting. And maybe even flip Florida.

Hope all the rioters are as motivated to vote as they are to riot.

Whatever the results in Nov, I'd be very surprised if Trump gets the nearly 63 million votes he got in 2016. He still has a solid base, but I think his raw vote count will be lower this time around.

Not sure he will lose a lot of support. But a lot of people who stayed home last time because they did not like Hillary Clinton, should come out and vote against Trump this time.

A lot of waverers also voted Trump because of Hillary.

Of course doing so indicated minimal understanding of the issues, but...

i may have already posted this, but....

there was a recent reputable poll which showed that among voters who don't like either candidate (but still intend to vote), there is a huge prefernce for biden....in 2016, that same demographic went overwhelmingly for trump.

after 2016, i'm not saying trump can't win, but he's in big trouble.

Provided that there is not a second wave of the virus come fall flu season which some experts are saying may happen. This virus showed up at the worst possible time.

Presidential election in the US has never been about issues, but the person himself, it's a vote of character

and Trump surely delivers on that end

I hate to say it but buttplug is correct on that one.

He loves to see America in turmoil and the reality is when it comes to himself he would never want to live in America. He is a Belgian that would never trade places. But he loves to see Americans suffer. He knows that he is lucky that he is not an American.

If ever there was an election where the issues are paramount, it is this one.
Character is only important, because the POTUS is completely void of any.

You have to have sympathy for the US electorate, or those who are allowed to vote. The options available to them are pretty poor all things considered.

Joe Biden leads President Trump in Michigan 53% to 41%, doubling his lead over the incumbent since January, according to a poll of 600 likely Michigan voters conducted by EPIC-MRA for the Detroit Free Press.
i'm not familiar with this polling company....but 12 points grabs your attention.

It's probably right where Hillary was last time, so don't get excited.

Baldy can still throw federal money at everyone the week before election day. They won't care if it adds a few more trillion to the national debt.

^The Fed's answer to all problems is 'CTRL P'. National Debt is just another number, like when McD's used to advertise x billions served on their signs. No one cares anymore.

Agree. Her law enforcement background will appeal to those from both parties to vote Biden ticket as well as bringing black voters out.

Not only does the permanent (over 250 years) election fighting represent the WMD (Weapons of Mass Distraction) but all the generous activity of the honorables is purporting not the country needs but having only one goal: being again elected....

(and all that beside the unselfish work for the "American people")...

Isn't the unique "exceptional" election system such an ingenious invention?
