WWII had its roots in the end of WWI; when the victorious allies demanded too much from Germany.

Say what you like about Churchill, and he had many personal flaws, but at least he had served on the front line as a young officer, before he used his undoubted oratory to imbue the British forces with belief when he became leader in a time of crisis.

BelAir, your 20/20 historical vision does you great credit.

Of course the war would never have been won without the experience and competence of the British Army officers.
