As good a place as any to put here as BEXIT related.

The Scottish government cannot hold an independence referendum without UK government's consent, the Supreme Court has ruled.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wants to hold a referendum on 19 October next year.

But the court ruled unanimously that she does not have the power to do so.

The UK government has so far refused to grant the formal consent for a vote that was in place before the referendum in 2014.

One of the few things Liz Truss said that I agree with was that Sturgeon is an 'attention seeker' and best ignored.

UK short of 4,000 doctors because of BREXIT, independent study finds.

Brexit made UK's shortage of doctors worse, study says

^ Along with nurses and other specialists, even medical caregivers and basic hospital, staff. The UK fucked itself with Brexit.

According to my NHS clinical manager contact, a conservative estimate of the Brexit related losses totals around 60,000 frontline clinicians.

Brexit is, was, and always shall be a fucking disaster without a single benefit.

And the truly sickening thing is that because it had a slim majority voting for it back in 2016 when most Brexiteers couldn’t distinguish their arses from a fucking hole in the ground neither the Tories nor Labour will consider re-visiting the decision lest they lose the lower end bigot vote in the forthcoming General Election.

Christ, even the septics realised Trump was a cvunt and got rid.

Britain is fucked, its currency is doomed to emerging world status and GDP will forever be shackled by cutting itself off from unfettered trade with its largest market for manufactured goods.

Never mind the loss of educational prospects afforded by the Erasmus project for the young, the destabilisation of Ireland and the loss of free movement among 27 European countries and their 500 million people all sharing our cultural beliefs in a civilised, democratic and liberal constitution respecting liberty and human rights, a charter respected and envied by the world except for tyrannical dictators and filthy Russian butchers.

UK can or will not consider re-visiting the decision.

UK will never get conditions for reentering EU as favorable as they had before Brexit.

It is possible a younger generation may demand the question gets revisited one day. It is at present hard to know the effects of brexit in combination with the disaster of covid and the Ukraine war.
I am not sure how the EU will stand up in the future with the increased expansion with six current candidate countries that will all require euro contributions from the remaing Eurodonor countries for the forseeable future.
Much of my criticism of the EU is the process worked quite well with just a few western countries as a trading block and not so well with the eastern europeans with infant democracies, especially as expansion and an all country consensus within rather than a majority makes it increasingly harder to progress and make concrete decisions in any timely manner. There is still no agreement on uniform migration policy in regard to refugees and economic migrants or even who will fill the shortage of funding left by Brexit, both ongoing problems for now years just to name two.

Financially a lot of the trouble was the PIGS and they weren't eastern European. The Euro is under pressure as its largely backed by the Germans which historically they were content with as it kept their goods competitive, add further new net debtors on top of the existing debt pile and things start to look decidedly dodgy.

Interesting ideas in a thread about the idiocy of Brexit and the harm it has done, is doing and will continue to do to the UK. Deflect to those Eastern Europeans.

Manufacturing and export-oriented countries need a stable currency, simple. The UK exports pretty much zip in comparison and is still fucked.

There is talk of moving towards more qualified majority voting than there is now. We'll have to wait and see if that actually comes about. Abolishing national vetoes in areas where unanimity is now required would require unanimous voting on the issue so I think any change will be a slow and gradual change.

A thing in the danish press these last days, is the crisis in the UK.

Reporting times bordering hunger in the "lower classes".

Kids going to school without breakfast and not being fed there either.

Then there will be the usual 'big bullies' and 'tiny countries unite' calls. I'm not sure what the best solution is to that - tough one.

Jumped on your high horse with lance ready I see hattie. It was an opinion but I stand by it. Hungary is already getting uppity not receiving its funding. The minister said this is funding we are entitled to not charity. If you get money that you have not contributed to and is donated by other countries it is charity no matter what you may wish to call it. As you think I am obfuscating maybe you can tell me where the extra funding will come from when there is still no agreement on the funding short fall by brexit 6 years later.
The nearest equivalent I can think of is THE USA without any central government and all the states having to vote unanimously.

Doubt that will happen the smaller countries and countries that want the benefits without constraints will never vote for it. Integration of these poorer countries will exert downward pressure on the Euro which will benefit the major exporters like Germany.

You can call it charity if you want, but it's a model of redistribution chosen in the EU.

    Nobody wins with poor members

    And they haven't contributed ?
    Link ?

Something that not everyone understands. Hence the EU attempt at bringing Russia onto a higher socio-economic plane . . . and then . . . Putin.

There's always an exit strategy if the Hungarian leadership feels it is being hard-done by. Perhaps they should ask the Brits how well it went.is still going for them.

There is now a growing realisation among the stupid, the ill-informed, the ignorant, the bigoted and the merely addled of the UK, i.e. the Brexiteer demographic, that despite their earlier credulous belief in the Brexit doctrine of delusional fantasy, the silly fuckers are finally accepting they were hoodwinked by their UKIP/Tory demagogues and now see there is not a single advantage for anyone to leaving the EU.

The £ remains anchored at its lowest prolonged rate in economic history, growth rate is the second lowest in the G20, losses in trade with our EU neighbours amount to £60 billion annually, agriculture faces ruination, the hospitality industry has been decimated, the NHS has lost over 60,000 EU workers, and over a million SMEs accounting for 46% of our trade with the EU have seen their order books shrivel with the burden of Tory introduced customs barriers. The litany of economic disaster just goes on and on.

But the most amusing thing of all to come out of this farrago of utter idiocy is the high priest of Brexitmania, the fatuous sesquipedalian Jacob Rees Mogg, could not manufacture one single example of economic advantage to Brexit during his fleeting captaincy of that risible and now defunct Dept for Brexit Opportunities.

The thing is neither political party will publicly admit the utter failure and foolishness of Brexit because they fear they will lose the support of the Stupid Voter. And where are these fucking idiots most congregated? Yep, the Red Wall northern constituencies populated by the stupid fuckers who actually believed BoJo’s lie that Brexit would make them richer and voted for him in their droves.

No one should ever underestimate the degree of stupidity that lurks in the brain of a Northern twat. These people are scarcely human and are incapable of comprehending their economic blight is self imposed but will always prefer to blame someone else for it.

Britain is truly fucked and there is no prospect of altering its trajectory into terminal inferiority as it muddles along without any national identity that is not mired in mediocrity, failure and international indifference.

The cognoscenti have all agreed, Britain is pretty much irrelevant to the world and its currency is doomed to devaluation.

As I said over six years ago, stagflation and recession would follow Brexit and that is now the reality for all to see.

Happy New Year! Same as last fucking year.

    Har, har.

    Farage for PM!
