The British pub chain Wetherspoon is sounding the alarm about a shortage of beer.
Brexit and the corona pandemic mean that there is a shortage of truck drivers and transport to restaurants and shops is thus suffering.

Molson Coors, the brewery behind several popular beer brands, states that, like many others in the British brewing and pub industry, it has suffered from a driver shortage.

Larger British companies have linked the driver shortage to Brexit and new rules that have made it more difficult to recruit from abroad. At the same time, the corona pandemic has caused many foreigners to leave the country.

Fast food chains Nando's, KFC and McDonald's have also reported temporary shortages of food and beverages.
The Road Haulage Association warns of a "serious shortage" of around 100,000 drivers and demands the introduction of short-term visas.


The founder of Wetherspoon, Tim Martin, is himself a Brexit advocate and has rejected fears that leaving the EU could be bad for business.

Even those UK citizens residing in the EU after Brexit are limited to work opportunities in the country they are registered unless they change their citizenship.

Brexit, together with its scamming covid entry rules make it bottom of the list for EU tourists. Forced pcr test after 2 days at silly prices, yet most nothing more than cheap home testing kits. It's a disgrace!

Pretty sure I’ve mentioned before, this is not solely about your particular circumstances. Time to move on.

^ There are over 1 million UK citizens resident in the EU, so it's not just about me...

...and there are countless others that have lost the opportunity I have had.

All but 2 of the Brits where I work changed citizenship. They can't be arsed with the UK any longer.

Me too, and very happy with the outcome.

Can't blame Brexit for shortages of lorry drivers, they had 4 years to prepare, but as usual try and keep the labour costs down, many have benefited, through big business's stupidity.

Loads of peeps becoming drivers for a living raking up to £40 an hour, considering a career change myself
