if you loathe the idea of leaving the eu, and regard all those who voted for it as northern monkeys and stupid bigots, then you are never going to understand what has happened to the traditional labour vote.
those people do not see themselves as traitors, they feel that they and their communities, to whom they are endlessly loyal, have been abandoned and now are patronised for their supposed ignorance and disliked for their distasteful life choices.
and they certainly dont want to be part of labours remedy for wealth distribution in which the permanently poor obtain never ending state funded assistance from the permanently rich. they want a chance to do it for themselves, and only the conservatives can do that for them.
nor are they fans of labours latest wheeze, identity politics and wokeness, which only serves to fracture communities and promote divisiveness.
if they stand any chance of becoming relevant again, they will need to take over the centre ground, which at the moment is firmly occupied by boris, and with labour still being funded and supported by the same old cabal of belligerent trade unionists, gay and trans rights wallahs, smelly teachers, knee taking grovelers, brit hating statue topplers, and demanding minority groups, there is little chance of that.
england has always been centrist, they eschew extremism both from the left and the right, and both middle englanders and us northern monkeys find it abhorrent....... and that's why labour have taken a pounding. corbyn, abbot, maclusky, and macdonald cast long shadows and they haven't gone away yet. voters dont give a fuck for boris' philandering, his wallpaper or his outbursts about bodies piling up in the streets
so its the conservatives for the next few years, with the canny, chaotic and very flawed flag-waving boris leading the charge.
