Britain is to close its borders to unskilled workers and those who can’t speak English as part of a fundamental overhaul of immigration laws that will end the era of cheap EU labour in factories, warehouses, hotels and restaurants.

Unveiling its Australian-style points system on Wednesday, the government will say it is grasping a unique opportunity to take “full control” of British borders “for the first time in decades” and eliminate the “distortion” caused by EU freedom of movement.

But industry leaders immediately accused the government of an assault on the economy warning of “disastrous” consequences with job losses and closures in factories and the high street.

Tom Hadley, director of policy at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said: “Jobs the government considers ‘low-skilled’ are vital to wellbeing and business growth. The announcement threatens to shut out the people we need to provide services the public rely on.

“We need access to workers that can help us look after the elderly, build homes and keep the economy strong.”

UKHospitality chief executive, Kate Nicholls, said “ruling out a temporary, low-skilled route for migration in just 10 months’ time would be disastrous for the hospitality sector and the British people” and deter investment in the high street.

This is still a long way forward, and adding shit Eastern Countries in the EU is not helping, a farewell gift from our English traitors friends
This is why the French were able to deploy to CAR, but only with logistic, air and naval support from the UK. What a duplicitous little frog wanker you are.
Macron needs to learn that leadership, is more than persuading people to follow you, out of something more than idle curiosity.

I have clean driving licenses in 4 countries thanks. Never been suspended in any of them. I have never owned Italian scrap metal with a black horse on it either.

On the subject of an EU army, I just can’t see French, Belgians and Germans taking orders from Greek and Italian officers.

Meanwhile, th UK will maintain its NATO duty role protecting all those annoying little EU countries who share a border with Russia and the EU.
The French have admirable front line troops, but without logistic support, your deployments will be limited to 30 days or less.

The UK also has nuclear options, and a seat on the UN Security Council. The French will be obliged to forfeit theirs in favour of the EU.

The only Alpha part you will have is in surrender flags.

Yeah, the French UN Security Council permanent seat will go to the EU (i.e. Yermany); should be interesting to see the increasing riots throughout France.

&, looks like those EU agriculture subsidies that France loves so much are gonna be cut down - more riots across France...

Macron is about to be ripped a new one.

You seem to think that WTO will be ad infinitum and all the while the UK will simply sit back and focus on trade with the club as we slowly disappear out of the G20. I didn't say it would not cause pain initially, it will on both sides but there is little point in get ourselves pigeon holed into a set of trading constraints that we operated under whilst in the club. Good grief, you are as bad as Sausages.

The trouble with the stupid is that they are, well, stupid.

Trade depends on a state's perception of its interests and how best they are served. Inevitably, barriers are erected, tariffs applied and quotas imposed unless a compromise is reached in balancing competing needs but these are generally no more than a regime offering less constraints rather than none whilst still preserving a core doctrine marking the limit of how much self interest can be curtailed.

There is in fact no such thing as completely free "free" trade but for those who wish to trade internationally without any formal agreements there is the framework established by the WTO upon which they can rely.

But, there is one unique association in the world that does in fact offer total free trade and zero quotas with unlimited free movement of labour and capital within its confines and that is of course the EU.

    And we have left it.

And today the papers are full of the new immigration regime in which Britain is now to revert to its pre 1973 policy of importing all foreign labour on work permit conditions.

Inflation will of ccourse rise, wages will rise, costs will rise but profits will be squeezed.

I shall look forward to the thousands of overstayers, the increase in crime, the human rights abuse of trafficked labour exploiting the third world and the exponential rise in asylum cases.

Nothing new under the sun as they say.

However, the underlying problem will not abate, the UK, as it is, needs the world but the world certainly does not need the UK and when Paki Patel cuts the cord between the EU and Britain, it will lose a lifeline for thousands of British businesses.

except of course its not free is it, there are costs associated with paying into the club and the administration of its rules & regs, not to mention an inability to manage your own affairs but instead having failed politicians from vassal states and Judges telling you what to do - still things are working spiffingly on the EU Canada deal i see.

The net costs to the UK is £9 billion but the dividend is currently £260 billions worth of unfettered trade.

The rest of your post is piffle-waffle UKIP rhetoric and worthless.

Incidentally, inflation is 1.7%, real wages remain at 2010 levels but profits are steady and predictable.

2021 will see an immediate reversal and if there is no alignment then the ordinary Joe is going to get crucified.

    Paki Patel
she is no more a paki than i am you silly old loon. She is of bobblehead stock via uganda, and takes no shit from the diversity obsessed nutjobs that have sadly dominated the home office backrooms for so long.

when are you going to start posting some facts instead of the foul mouthed rants that seem to have become your stock in trade as you try, but fail miserably to accept the reality and opportunities that brexit offers to the united kingdom.

You are quite naive Tax, and seemingly not a little stupid, too.

Patel is a Gujarati migrant spawn whose family ran a corner shop. The only difference between her family and those in Pakistan is religion.

Now, and this might be a huge challenge to you so I shall take it slowly.

Patel is a coon who lies and cheats - we know this because May booted her out of her cabinet for it.

Patel is stupid - we know this because we all saw her performance on QT when Hislop destroyed her as she tried to defend capital punishment. Also, she cannot write as we saw from her resignation letter.

Patel is greedy - we know this from her questionable business dealings, obscure consultancies and sly commissions.

Patel is ambitious for more wealth sacrificing British interests - we know this from her frequent trips to India where she has consolidated her friendship with the fascist Modi who demands that Britain relaxes its migration controls on Indians and has made this contingent to increased Anglo-Indian trade. Patel as Home Secretary has now reduced the minimum salary cap for migrant workers from £30,000 to £25,000 and further down to £20,000 for those in "skilled" categories in sectors with shortages. She has been working on this for the past six months - it is the payoff for Modi. The flights from Dehli, Mumbhal and Madras to LHR are going to be crowded.

Joined up the dots for you, Tax, old man?

Also, Tax, she has no time for West Indians which really cranked her up when the judiciary halted those flights.

^^ so Sausages, you have described nicely pretty much every politician there is, so what's your point, that Dianne Abbot would be better because she's too thick to make anything of herself apart for warming a seat for the past 20 years after having fuk'd the right person to get noticed in labour. You are funny in the way you keeping trotting out babble to fit your narrative.

Your poor sensibilities have been protected because you only read the Guardin. Other media cover the ongoing, current riots all over France. The BBC dare not publish it because it goes against their political bias. Wake up and mell the cafe au lait sunshine.

    and here we have it

Michel Barnier: UK can't have Canada trade deal with EU - BBC News

The UK cannot have the same trade deal with the EU as Canada, according to the bloc's chief negotiator.

Michel Barnier said the EU was ready to offer an "ambitious partnership" with the UK post-Brexit, but its "particular proximity" meant it would be different.

It comes after the UK's chief negotiator, David Frost, made a speech in Brussels calling for a "Canada-Free Trade Agreement-type relationship".

The two sides are due to start negotiations next month.

The UK left the EU on 31 January and is now in a transition period - following the majority of the bloc's rules - while a post-Brexit trade deal is hammered out.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has put a deadline of 31 December on agreeing a plan, saying he will not extend the transition period beyond then.
