Game over for Boris, he will resign soon

PM: I'd rather be dead in ditch than delay Brexit
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49598118

Boris Johnson has said he would "rather be dead in a ditch" than ask the EU to delay Brexit beyond 31 October.

But the PM declined to say if he would resign if a postponement - which he has repeatedly ruled out - had to happen.

Mr Johnson has said he would be prepared to leave the EU without a deal, but Labour says stopping a no-deal Brexit is its priority.

The prime minister's younger brother, Jo Johnson, announced earlier that he was standing down as a minister and MP.

Speaking in West Yorkshire, Boris Johnson said Jo Johnson, who backed leave the the 2016 referendum, was a "fantastic guy" but they had had "differences" over the EU.

Announcing his resignation earlier in the day, the MP for Orpington, south-east London, said he had been "torn between family loyalty and the national interest".

BoJo the clown kicked in the bollocks three times in one night.

    Finally something to cheer.

Today’s rally in front of the police force is straight out of the Trump playbook.

a bit pointless now, since Boris is to resign soon, and the EU27 might save the day with an automatic extension

Brexit: Gina Miller's bid to stop UK Parliament suspension rejected
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-49604584

A legal challenge over Prime Minister Boris Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament has been rejected in the High Court.

The case was brought by businesswoman Gina Miller, who argued the move was "an unlawful abuse of power".

Rejecting Ms Miller's case, Lord Justice Burnett said she could immediately appeal because of the important points of law at stake.

The appeal is expected to be heard at the Supreme Court on 17 September.

Ms Miller said she was "very disappointed with the judgment".

She added: "We feel it is absolutely vital that Parliament should be sitting. We are therefore pleased that the judges have given us permission to appeal to the Supreme Court, which we will be doing, and they feel that our case has the merit to be handed up."

A similar legal challenge heard at Edinburgh's Court of Session on Wednesday also failed.

maybe not a bad move actually, Corbyn as a PM looks more and more likely, and he is acting much better now

Brexit: Opposition parties to reject PM election move
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49609677

UK opposition parties have agreed not to back Boris Johnson's demand for a general election before the EU summit in mid-October.

Labour, the Lib Dems, the SNP and Plaid Cymru say they will vote against the government or abstain in Monday's vote on whether to hold a snap poll.

The SNP's Ian Blackford said they wanted to make sure the UK did not "crash out" in a no-deal Brexit.

But the PM said the parties were making an "extraordinary political mistake".

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn hosted talks involving opposition parties in London on Friday.

Afterwards, Mr Blackford told the BBC: "We have to keep the pressure on Boris Johnson."
    'Perplexed'

Liz Saville Roberts, Plaid Cymru's Westminster leader, said there was an "opportunity to bring down Boris" and "we should take that".

And a Lib Dem spokeswoman said the group was clear that "we are not going to let Boris Johnson cut and run".

"The Liberal Democrat position for a while now is that we won't vote for a general election until we have an extension agreed with the EU. I think the others are coming round to that," she said.

"As a group we will all vote against or abstain on Monday."

Mr Johnson, who wants an early general election to take place on 15 October, said he was "perplexed" by the decision of opposition parties to "run away" from an election.

"All I see is Corbyn and the SNP clubbing together to try and lock us into the EU when it's time to get this thing done," he said.

"It's the most sensational paradox - never in history has the opposition party been given the chance for election and has turned it down."

You make it sound like a huge majority for Brexit. It wasn't.

You make it sound like leaving without an agreement was the public view. It wasn't.

The extremist think that is the default but if there is any default then it is leaving with a deal.
When Boris campaigned for Vote Leave then his message was how easy it would be to get a golden framed agreement with EU because Britain is such an important nation.
Leaving without a deal was never on the agenda, everything was about "regaining control".

What 52% of the Britons voted for was a quick and easy divorce from EU under excellent conditions, they did not vote for crashing out of EU.

Blame Boris and JRM for failing to vote for the agreement accepted by the Maybot. They are the ones that have failed the people...the ones that refused to toe the party line and now remove others for doing the same.

Boris can't be trusted to wipe his own bum nowadays.

Are you stupid? Doris deal was Brexit in name only, it kept us tied to the EU with no say, the vote was to leave as in out of all EU institutions and just trade with them on whatever terms will be agreed. Why the fuck do you even need a treaty to leave a trading block? Oh that's right we have been lied to for over 40 years and it wasnt actually just a trading block that we joined.

Everyone is talking about an extension as if it is up to the Brits. The europeans have stated that unless there is some creditable alternative there will not be a date change. If Boris does nothing, I do not know what that clusterf#ck called the British parliament can do to prevent a "no deal" Brexit.
The obvious answer is too hold an election and Boris can put forward his deal or no deal Brexit and the remainer parties can present their case and the people will decide. If the remainer parties win, there would then be justification for a second referendum. This will not happen as Corbyn is only interested in getting power and he knows he does not have enough support. However, I dont know if waiting and f#cking up the country will make him more popular down the track as he is gambling with the economic health of the country his (and his parties) electoral popularity will improve.

In principle yes, but I think the EU would be inclined to grant one on the slightest premise right now.

Im'm keen to know what Johnson has planned for the UK outside the EU, in his proposed Queens speech. He will probably need two option speeches now.

Sadly any election will debate the EU question thus negating the need for a referendum 2.

This is from SkyNews - look at the last comment particularly:

    Brexit - It's Still On!-screenshot-2019-09-07-12-15-a

    Brexit - It's Still On!-screenshot-2019-09-07-12-15-a

    Brexit - It's Still On!-screenshot-2019-09-07-12-14-a

    It's very clear:

    1) the opposition parties feel that Boris would win an election now on a No Deal Brexit ticket.
    2) the opposition parties won't give the electorate the choice; they'd rather work parliamentary procedures to get their way.

It's shocking how folks on here can let their imagination run riot from "we only lost by a little bit..." to "...we have the right to do whatever I want, that's democracy!".

The fact of the matter is simple. Britain voted to leave, this was supported by both major parties in an election who were voted in 1st and 2nd places. Over the next 3 years a massive propaganda campaign has said everything under the sun, but they now won't let the people have their say again via either an election on a No Deal Brexit vs Remain, or allow a second referendum with those two questions.

Just read this last paragraph again (it's not hard...):

    Brexit - It's Still On!-screenshot-2019-09-07-12-14-a

To translate for people with reading difficulties, she is saying: we won't allow the electorate to make their choice because we know we will lose (again)...

This sums up Labour's chaotic approach to Brexit. From "Question Time" this week, and remember that Emily Thornberry is the Shadow Foreign Secretary (beggars belief almost as much as Diane Abbot becoming Home Secretary):

Or Corbyn as PM, we've a generation or two of cretins in parliament and the worry is the younger generation can't see it and think you can just ingore democracy.
