So, due to EU rules, we are not able to bailout our steel industry. &, we have a billion pound wind turbine project which we will be forced to buy Chinese steel to build; this Chinese steel is the dirtiest in the world, so apart from losing jobs and being forced to buy from China and transport the steel across the world, we will then get environmental fines which will be three times, or more, than the 75 million pounds needed to save the British steel industry...

    Insanity.
not sure if dirty, but my understanding was that the Chinese were now to produce the same quality of steel or even better but much cheaper. That's why no government want to financially support those dying industries, it's a question of time. That said, it's still stupid, for strategic reasons. What happens if there is an embargo by the US on all Chinese products, then again the Europeans get fucked.

For security reasons, those industries should be kept alive and promoted in the EU. Fucking EU commission is too incompetent and too busy with preparing with their plans in the sky than they can't do anything and will simply do nothing real to fix things.

The route cause is the insistence of the EU on imposing high carbon tariffs on steel producers which penalise them vs the chinese - more fukin EU madness

we have an EU commission obsessed with norms, framework, and standards, which is the trademark of a blind leadership

they want to harmonize everything, no matter the local costs

European elections 2019: EU citizens turned away from UK polls
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-48384000

EU citizens living in the UK have told of their anger after they were unable to vote in the European elections.

The Electoral Commission said the "very short notice" from the government about the UK's participation in the elections had an impact on the process.

EU citizens can vote in the country they live in by registering to vote and completing a UC1 form.

But many complained of receiving the form late and of it not being processed by their local authority in time.

A campaign group said thousands of people have been affected by the issue.

The prime minister's spokesman recognised that there was "frustration".

The government announced on 7 May that the UK would be taking part in the European elections, having previously hoped that a Brexit deal would have been agreed by then.

In order to take part in the European elections in the UK, EU citizens needed to have returned a UC1 form by 7 May to their local authority, declaring they would not vote in another EU member state.

Citizens of Ireland, Malta or Cyprus are eligible to vote in the UK for European elections without having to make this written declaration.

and the Brexit drama is about to end like a GoT episode killing the lead character

Ministers expect Theresa May to reveal No 10 departure date on Friday
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-48385696

Theresa May is expected to announce the date of her departure from Downing Street on Friday morning, senior cabinet ministers have told the BBC.

Sources say they expect the PM to give a timetable for her successor to be chosen, with 10 June likely to be the start of the official leadership race.

Mrs May is due to meet the chairman of Tory backbenchers on Friday.

She has been under pressure to resign, after a backlash by her own MPs against her latest Brexit plan.

Since January, Parliament has rejected the withdrawal agreement Mrs May negotiated with the EU three times. Recent attempts to find a formal compromise with Labour also failed.

Mrs May had planned to publish the Withdrawal Agreement Bill on Friday - the legislation required to bring the agreement into UK law - describing it as "one last chance" to deliver Brexit.

However, her proposals - including a customs union arrangement and an offer to give MPs a vote on holding another referendum - angered many Tories.

Labour said it was a "rehash" and they would not support the plans.

Unless something extremely strange happens in the next couple of days, it is now, really, nearly over.

Why now though? It's not as if Theresa May's been having an easy time of it for months.

You guessed it, it's Brexit, and what's accelerated her departure was trying - again - to put her Brexit plans to Parliament.

in good English tradition, I think Doris should announce the revoke of Article 50 as her last sacrifice so to give way to a new PM and restart the whole process from scratch

Next Tory leader has to be a Brexiteer who actually believes in Britain and has a post Brexit vision for Britain. This was Doris biggest mistake she never believed in Brexit hence her deal was Brexit in name only. We will leave, things will change now.

Have to wait until 7 June to celebrate but we are having a party tonight anyway. Resignation was long overdue and too much damage has already been inflicted on the UK.

Hope she loses her seat at the next GE as well.

Doubt she will continue as an MP, her seat is one of those pointless voting in as think has a 20k + majority.

You pedantic pathetic twat, he posted a headline from the sun, Farage bus held by men armed with milkshakes without bothering to post the actual article or even link to it, which was fake news. Although seeing you only need the reading ability of a 7 year old to be able to read The Sun I'm sure you will have managed to read the article. Another day in the condo watching the spycam, hoping for a bit of action to wank to?

You’re just completely blind to the fact that you do exactly what you accuse others of.

Twist what they’ve said and go for ad hom time after time. You’ll even throw in the name of other posters who’ve made you look a complete fool recently, just while you’re at it.

Take a look at yourself, you laughable tit.
