The momentum (and I don't mean the Labour left...), is building. How desperate are May & Corbyn to agree any deal, fukin' up the nation, before the European elections?
Looking at these recent local council elections, I think there's some good news for Brexiteers, potentially.
The Conservatives got crucified, but Labour didn't...
Labour didn't do well, but if those results were repeated in a general election then Labour would win comfortably. Thus, Labour may not bother trying to do a deal with May, just do everything to push for a general election a.s.a.p. In that case, if we run in the EU elections (which May is desperate to avoid - she would probably sign anything Labour put in front of her pre-EU elections to get anything that avoids Brexit through) then the Brexit party will win. If we then go onto a general election and the Brexit party stand then who knows how voting would go?
The Conservatives just get crucified more and more with every day that May continues.
Cycling should be banned!!!
6 months ago Corbyn seemed to be completely focussed on a general election rather than ref 2, and the least likely scenario by far seemed to be cross-party agreement on the way forward.
I'm therefore surprised these talks between Labour and the Tories seem to be reaching an agreement.
If they collapse then that will be far less surprising imo. I don't see how propping up May helps Labour at all.
Seems you're still not understanding the difference between LE and GE, once more with feeling: there are no outright winners in a LE, there is no LE party or LE Prime Minister.
However the Tories suffered the worst losses of any party and those losses were the worst on record in the last quarter of a century.
The Brexit disease is terminal and there it is.
Nothing will change except instead of EU folk doing the work the idle shiftless scummy Brits refuse to do, the jobs will be filled by third/emerging world contract labour trafficked through gangers who will reap the profits at the expense of the consumer who will pay for them.
If I were minded, and I'm thinking along these lines, I'd certainly incorporate a company to tender to the Home Office for the contract to represent all foreign agents in the provision and processing of the labour and partner up with an accommodation company for the building of dormitory housing.
I'm thinking of the right name.....maybe Coons'RUs and our company motto could be, say, "Arbeit Macht Frei" ?
I could be persuaded to offer shares in this venture which will almost certainly be a winner.
Chass's nappy rash must be very distracting...
Yet again we're having to explain basic, basic things to these morons.
Of course there are outright winners in LE you fool, the outright winner is who gets the most votes and therefore the seat. And of all the council seats being contested despite losing over 1000 seats the Tories still won the most thus having 50% more councillors than Labour in the seats that were up for election.
Simple Sybil making a complete tit of himself again i see, exposing for the umpteenth time his basic lack of knowledge and understanding of the issue in this case Corbyn. Corbyn is a Brexiteer you idiot, he wants Brexit as without it because of EU rules and regulations on the off chance he does become PM he won't be able to force his socialist agenda on the UK. Again basic stuff that has been discussed at length numerous times.
having a market share dropping from 80% to 60% is hardly winning
still a majority, but still a loss
how can they won the majority if not all councils were being contested in a poll?
Both parties wish to avoid the EU elections, esp after humiliating locals with every indication of a bloodbath later this month.
May is dead, even she should know that by now, and so is her surrender Treaty, giving Corbyn awesome and undeserved influence on proceedings. But such is the state of Brit politics that he's also in intensive care and will give/concede/say/swear/sign/sell anything for a GE, his last chance to become more than an unelectable leader. Any deal he strikes with May must include GE with a choice of dumb or dumber, rather than leadership switch, and once he loses that it's bye bye which gives Labour a clear run, though a bit late.
Egos can be quite lethal.
Farage's brexit party producing the most MEPs will probably force the May deal brexit, or something close to it. That compromise will make everyone unhappy, brexit and remain supporters.
Farage is just taking the opportunity to do even more damage to the UK than he's done already. That said, close ties to USA rather than EU is my preference. It would provide far more opportunities to the next generations. Freedom of movement between UK and USA is the new goal.
