As the news pours in of nothing but stunning incompetence and transparent blame ducking from the UK goverment in the face of this crisis.

Switch's always shaky grasp on reality has now completely deserted him.

I think even Goebbels Cummings is having difficulty in masking the incompetence of the BoJo regime and is now asking the cabinet of Orcs to simply re-write the past narrative that changes history. Problem is, with idiots as stupid as Raab C Brexit (Where is Dover?) that has struck a reef of dishonesty when it emerged the Brexit buffoons excluded the British COVID victims from sharing the benefits of the joint EU PPE scheme on mere doctrinal grounds.

As I said before, Brexit and its bastard government of The Stupid has killed Brits and that's a fact.

We really do see how years of atrophied incompetence was 'repurposed' to make it look like leaving the EU would be good for the UK here.

The bloke involved here is obviously a foreigner for a start...

Volker Schuster, the owner of the Merseyside-based chemicals firm EcoLogix, said he wrote to the cabinet office’s “Covid commercial response unit” offering to supply 10 miilion FFP2 masks for frontline medics that would be ready to ship from China within a week. He said he submitted details of the masks, including their European CE certification, but only received a substantive response eight days later – asking for details he had already provided. By that time the masks had been sold to other countries.
Stories like this abound from up and down the country.

And on another topic I see they're desperately trying to get in enough Romanians to pick the fruit that, as everyone expected, Brits can't be arsed with.

The Brexit fiasco and the more recent, concerted Goebbels Cummings inspired attack upon the Civil Service has taken its toll and undermined the strength of the core policy civil service cadre in Whitehall which has seen its staff resources stripped bare from the coalface of governance and transferred to Brexit based nonsense dedicated to tearing apart the weft and weave of 45 years of Britain's socio-economic development.

The final blow came when the mad Goebbels demanded that all policy matters previously the purlieu of the Cabinet Office and Treasury be subsumed into his policy unit at 10 Downing St that would be staffed not by civil servants but by "misfits and eccentrics".

The Brexit imbroglio has effectively sabotaged government and the COVID debacle is the first and lethal testament to its legacy, a grim and desolate prospect that will last another four years under the lamentable stewardship of BoJo the Clown.

    Take the rules or else...

Brexit: Disappointing progress in trade talks, says Michel Barnier

The progress made in post-Brexit trade talks between the UK and EU has been disappointing, Michel Barnier has said.

The EU's chief negotiator said "genuine progress" and a decision on whether to extend the transition period were both needed by June.

The UK said "limited progress" had been made and talks needed to "move forward in a constructive fashion".

The two sides will hold two further rounds of talks before the end of the transition period in December.

Mr Barnier said a joint decision would be taken on 30 June about whether to extend the transition period.

But the UK government has already said it will refuse to extend it beyond December, even if the EU requested a delay.

Following the talks - which took place using video-conferencing technology because of the coronavirus pandemic - Mr Barnier said: "The UK has affirmed once again this week its wish to make tangible progress between now and June and we're on the same wavelength on this and we respect the same timetable.

    'Sovereign equals'

"That means that we need genuine progress by June if, at the end of this year, we want to strike an agreement which is commensurate to the level of our economic interdependence and geographical proximity."

But he said there were four areas where progress was "disappointing", including the level playing field (what kind of access the UK could have to the European single market after Brexit), justice and fisheries.

And he warned that the "clock was ticking".

What is a level playing field?
Mr Barnier said the UK negotiating team keeps repeating that they are negotiating as "sovereign equals", but the "reality" was that an agreement was being sought between a massive bloc and a smaller nation.

On fisheries, Mr Barnier said the EU would not agree to a deal without a "balanced, sustainable and long-term agreement", describing it as an "inseparable part of the trade agreement, along with the level-playing field".

But he said "no progress" had been made on fisheries, as the UK has "not put forward a legal text".

Mr Barnier said the two sides "need to find solutions on the most difficult topics".

"The UK cannot refuse to extend transition and at the same time slow down discussions on important areas," he added.

Mr Barnier reiterated that the UK would have to pay a "lump-sum" contribution to the EU budget if the transition period is extended beyond 31 December.

And he said any deal agreed by December would have to be "smart" to "cushion the blow" of Brexit and coronavirus.

    'Limited progress'
In a statement, the UK government said it had been a "full and constructive negotiating round".

"However, limited progress was made in bridging the gaps between us and the EU," it said.

"Our assessment is that there was some promising convergence in the core areas of a free trade agreement, for example on goods and services trade, and related issues such as energy, transport, and civil nuclear cooperation."

But it said that the EU's offer on goods trade "falls well short of recent precedent in FTAs (free trade agreements) it has agreed with other sovereign countries".

"This considerably reduces the practical value of the zero tariff zero quota aspiration we both share," the statement said.

The UK government also highlighted "significant differences of principle" in areas including the level playing field and fisheries.

It said talks needed to "move forward in a constructive fashion" and the UK "remains committed to a deal with a free trade agreement at its core".

The next round of talks are due to be held during the weeks beginning 11 May and 1 June.

well Barnier still standing after getting the virus,

to be honest, how can he expect things to progress when the world is upside down

The Brits have other priorities at the moment, and therefore will need a well justified extension for the negotiation

The main obstacles to progress ( leaving aside any doctrinal obduracy ) are twofold: the Brexit demagogues have no idea how to translate their bilious rhetoric into reality, they simply do not know what it is they actually want, and given this stasis the civil service are unable to deliver a text to form the basis of formal discussion leading to an enforceable agreement.

This is of course unsurprising given the appalling calibre of ministers that form The Clown's cabinet, all of whom were appointed not on the basis of any merit but on the degree of fervour with which they would would abase themselves before the high altar of the Brexit cult.

And the shame of it is that this inability to adopt a practical platform for their Brexit mania will be blamed on COVID.

It truly is a terrible blow that both BoJo and Goebbels Cummings survived.

The 20,000 COVID victims who died as a consequence of their dilatory vacillations when they spent nigh on a month doing absolutely nothing are a testament to their grievous incompetence.

Here we go, they don't know what they want. Well, i think the UK has been crystal on the EU courts and other legislative/legal boundaries and the EU has known this from the start but has nevertheless insisted on imposing their rules and regs to a degree which means the separation may as well have not occurred - if the UK stance in rejecting that is not listening then yes OK.

Highlights how few reputable news sources there are available these days.

BBC - OK for BREXITers but not for anyone else, apparently.

The Guardian is not acceptable either, so that leaves the red top shitsheets and sources behind a paywall.

    Oh, and Al Jazeera.

Numfuktwat, if the UK wants access to EU benefits then it has to agree the forum for arbitration of any disputes that may arise, and logically this is the fucking ECJ. The EU position is coherent and has been consistently the same; arbitration on trade and matters pertaining thereto must be before the ECJ and that protocol must be applied across the board, for all issues. The Brexit loons have objected stating they want an alternative protocol but as yet have failed to express their counter proposals in any text that might constitute a legal framework enforceable in law.

That's the issue at stake you gormless oik.

Whichever side you're on, surely this has to be considered a salient point.

It's consistent with the approach of the UK government since day one.

Stop stalking me you odious faggot. Barnier is the one complaining about the UK not accepting the EU rules, he knows the response yet he carried on so i have no idea what his problem is when the EU is binary in its stance. Its quite clear where this ends up and yet he seems surprised. Bit slow on the uptake if you ask me, bit like you trying to decide which fantasy country your are taking your bloke to this week.

Oh you mean only those with an Open University 2:2 in Eng Lit can participate. Now regards the negotiation. Where do you see the EU relaxing their red lines, after all you thicko that is what you are asking the UK to draw up a proposal on.. christ there really isn't much substance behind your repetition.
