I think you will find the 'exodus' of financial firms to Europe consists mainly of standard business practice, or insurance, by setting up legal bases to straddle whatever results from the current era of uncertainty, through a few legal documents, a handful of personnel and some computers. Nothing lost if the City preserves its status, and much to gain from forward planning for the worst case scenario.

Remainers say Brexit will be worse and provide 'facts' and speculation in support, while Brexiteers say it will be better with different facts and speculation, though not even the 'experts' know what Europe will look like in ten or 20 years from now. The only thing we should know and which many fail to address, is that without urgent reform which is unlikely, the EU's ultimate goal of full Union is a lunatic fantasy that could never be realised.

That is the answer.

As the Greek former minster has repeatedly said, the EU has certain tactics and they don't bend. At the 11th hour, their real position comes out; they will behind the scenes put everything in place (while claiming it's impossible) just like they always do.

WTO works fine for us. The EU are desperate for many things from the UK, for example they have stated openly that they don't want the UK to be able to compete against the EU; for the UK, we do want to actively compete against the EU, we want out of the protectionist markets - balancing that against the US deal will be tricky, but Boris will have to bluff both sides (just as they will be doing to him).

I agree with Sabang that Boris' time limit is a very good idea (he can always easily extend it if he wants to, so it's not at all binding); Sabang gave some good reasons. Basically, stuff like a Coronavirus (locally) or a banking collapse or political instability or so many other things have a far greater impact than Brexit. This is exactly what business has always said: get on with it, we will deal with it once we know the terms; with change there is opportunity.

The point is that in the document they have drawn up they has set so many boundaries and rules that the UK may as well still be a part of the EU, so they must be expecting the UK to leave with No Deal. What is odd is that they were screeching for months over a so called "Crash Out" and how disastrous it would be but it is the EU. I suspect the fate of the deal will reside in a casting vote by Malta. WTO it is. Fine.

Wishful thinking is the spade you dig with, and when it happens shrug it off as er, a fluke or an aberration, but nothing to do with innate corruption or the unambiguous socialist endgame.

Fact is we're leaving, hopefully with a fair deal, and whether you either would stay or profess to be neutral, nobody not even you or squirrel know how it'll turn out.

I see European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas is relieved the UK has left, he's piped up at a EU Security summit stating the UK held up plans for an EU Army and Brexit is a good thing as the EU can now push ahead with it EU wide Defence Farce.

Did he notice that quite a few members states fail to live up to their NATO commitments re Defence expenditure or even basic shit like turning up for exercises, nah.

I think Yermany are going to have a devil of a time reigning in the various committees all looking to spend spend spend their money. Micron, if he remains in power is going to be a hoot over the next year.

I love this, they are all crawling out of the woodwork to explain how much the UK has been a disruptive element in the EU, it'll keep the focus away from introspection for at least a year - bad UK, its a wonder they didn't make easier for us to leave sooner, even pay for us to leave.

I think maybe Russia should join the EU, and there you have the ready made EU Army. All the US bases can move to Ukraine.
