Anyway, it is now looking likely services are to be excluded in the negotiations given The Bangla has definitively ruled out any alignment with EU regulations. So, goodbye to banking passporting and £30 billions of euro trade settlements in the EU by the City, and the death knell tolling for the end of frictionless trade has just been rung. So, goodbye to BMW, PSA and no doubt Toyota and Nissan..and of course Airbus.

Honestly, the sheer stupidity of this is beyond belief.
The stupidity is from the EU. You have repeated the obvious. When the EU offer passporting rights in exchange for fisheries compromise, who wins?
At least you have grasped how the process works currently, but not recognized who wins in this least important of little games.
More of this to come, now the EU knows they’ve lost.

Again you appear to think that negotiations have ever gone in any other way.

That the EU defending the EU's interests is some dastardly tactic.

In fact the EU's superior position in many aspects of such negotiations is a large part of why the EU exists and why the UK joined in the first place.

Meanwhile the Brits are playing the game vs Jonny Foreigner with a straight bat in a spirit of fairplay.

    It really is quite comical.

Your prejudice is blinding you. The British fishing fleet will not be able to expand enough to take advantage of the fishing grounds in the short term but it is quite possible they will have a gradual phase out of some of the European fleet in British territorial waters. If the British deny access to the european fishing fleet in total (highly unlikely) the only loser is the Europeans. Currently they have the major benefit from catch to sale. If left in the sea the fish stocks will expand. As there is basically no profit in it for Britain they lose virtually nothing, whereas the euros will lose a whole industry including reliant communities. The euros have no bargaining power in this regard and everyone who has worked in commercial industry would know that, including the EU.. Putting Tariffs on fish will only hurt europeans as this will inflate the price of the fish to consumers. Seeking alternatives will cost more as the fishers will need to go further into deep water far off shore which is even more expensive, negating any tariffs on the British catch. There are other problems regarding catch quality, different species in blue water etc, the longer it takes to get to market that I wont bore you with. They have seriously miscalculated by trying to bluff the Brits into staying in the EU. BTW Airbus is staying BMW is hardly likely to leave one of its' biggest markets.
If you want to see more waste and stupidity, it looks like the MEPs leaving will have their seats redistributed rather than being removed altogether. No wonder the E.U. just dont have a clue. Just another bunch of moribund public servants living off the taxpayer.
Maybe they will hold them for Albania Serbia and Montenegro. At least two of those will be permanently on the Euro teet. Speaking of which the EU still hasn't worked out who will make up the funding shortfall when the Brits leave and they cant even get that sorted after nearly four years the clueless idiots.

Look, one really does grow weary with this Brexit propaganda. The EU member states do not "rely" on the UK for anything critical to their combined economy other than as a market for goods that can be replaced from elsewhere. Which bit of " the UK depends on the EU for 13% of its GDP, the EU derives 3% of ts GDP from trade with the UK" do you not understand?Britain's manufacturing sector contribution to GDP is around 9-10%, 48% of which depends on the EU markets. This is a stark reminder of just how serious this BoJo madness truly is and when ministers of the Crown say it is now policy to just let British business hang in the breeze of uncertainty then even the dimmest must realise Brexit is a car accident.

Of the total global production by BMW, 9% finds its way into the UK. That's 9%. Not 29%, not 49%, not 39%, not 19% just .....9%.

Now, lets consider the economic realities of tariff trade in the car manufacturing sector when frictionless trade represented by the SM and CU is wiped out. 10% according to WTO rules will be slapped on every time a part shuffles backwards and forwards between the EU and the UK. BMW et al have already said that such an imposition renders UK production uneconomic and superfluous to their strategy. Cowley will shut down and move to Holland but there is another little wrinkle you have missed, BMW have signed a deal with Great Wall to establish a new plant in Shanghai for electric car production, including the ..........electric Mini. Goodbye Cowley.

The Airbus CEO said that the "potential" for continued production in Broughton/Bristol etc was rosy and wondrous but he was being polite and charming to Leadsom at a gala dinner. Since then we have had the Clown/Goebbels reinforcement of the ERG strategy that there will be no alignment with the EU and Sajid the Bangla has had all his speeches written for him to emphasise that very point......" We will not be rule takers" blah, blah. Goodbye frictionless trade.

Airbus can shift wing production to Europe/China tomorrow, and pretty much most other manufacturers will follow suit.

Britain is isolating itself from Europe in favour of delusions and there will be consequences.

But please, do not tell me that the EU will give a toss. In the end it is all down to the bigger picture and money, and England is in reality small fry.

The US in the end will always favour the EU because of scale but if the Brits want crumbs off the international top table then I'm sure if they crawl on their bellies long enough Uncle Sam will throw some their way.

UK PM Johnson to impose new restrictions on low-skilled migrants post-Brexit: Telegraph

(Reuters) - Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson is preparing to impose new restrictions on low-skilled migrants moving to Britain on the first day after the Brexit transition period ends in December, the Telegraph reported.

Plans are being drawn up by Johnson's aides under which the government would bring forward its post-Brexit immigration shake-up by two years, thereby removing a temporary extension of the current rules until 2023 that had been demanded by business groups, the newspaper said bit.ly/2GfbcVf.

Home Secretary Priti Patel is expected to present the proposals to the Cabinet this week, as part of a paper on the UK’s future immigration system, the newspaper said.

Funny how many so called Asylum seekers declare in the UK having made it across Europe but somehow the EU never acknowledges the correct application of Asylum rules..They all must have rowed from North Africa. The EU is a fooking joke and you'll see just how much it matters over the coming decade. i am looking forward to it even though we are going to lose 13% of our GDP and have to survive without all these German supplied lease cars.

The truly amusing thing about the Kipper nazi propaganda crap picked up and used by BoJo et al is the red herring of EU migration, a demographic that accounts for a mere 4% of the total population yet provided a significant contribution to a persistent shortfall in workers in the provision of care and health workers, and the services sector.

Many of these were transient opportunist workers who had no wish to settle permanently in the UK but who would return to their own countries to be replaced by fellow cohorts in the next cycle.

This will of course now stop and rather than a gradual change, as agreed before, it will now be a precipice moment. So, on 1 1. 21 the hotel, bar and restaurant trade will lose a reservoir of workers upon which it has relied for over 20-40 years with no obvious replacement. Similarly, the care industry will now face a logistical problem that is simply not possible to resolve quickly or easily.

BoJo the Clown is perhaps one of our more stupid and somewhat lazy would-be administrators whose intellectual heft is only truly focused upon egotistical matters or satisfying his bodily needs.

All this faux strident and so-called purposeful activity precipitating short term change by introducing stupid deadlines and blanket embargoes on people and regulations are simply an echo of his London mayorship when he spent 8 years piffle waffling about in gimmicks that didn't work and shagging about while everything ticked over in the usual way with other folk doing the work.

He is a buffoon and without any vision or competence to implement anything remotely approaching a coherent doctrine of governance. All bluster, spunk and waffle and nothing of substance.

Only a matter of time when his Goebbels gets the bullet.

Err, they do not apply for asylum in France. They are illegal entrants without any right to remain but are not removable because they have no valid document upon which they can be returned to whichever country they purport to come from. Some years ago the French lost patience, gave them all a good kicking and dumped them back over the Belgian/ Grman border but of course they just trickled back in.
The thing is, the Commies did the West's immigration policy for them in preventing the movement of people through the Iron Curtain but all that went in 1989.

Do you understand the problem now? Or does it make your pointy little head ache?

Sausages I understand the problem very well, the EU has no control over its borders - i also understand that where an individual wishes to apply for asylum that are to do so in the first country they arrive in not tramp all over Europe at will until they pitch up in the UK for us to look after on the EUs behalf. just one of many examples where the EU choses its policy application in favour of the top table. Still i fully expect the EU to ask the UK to take a quota of immigrants during the forthcoming budget setting process...erm sorry bilat negotiations

So amusing to see the underclass trying to express their thoughts, it's like watching a toddler navigating its way as it takes its first steps.

Your ignorance of the terms of the Dublin Convention appears to be as profound as in most matters not associated with manual labour and pouring concrete.

Why you oiks bother is mystifying.

As Verhofstad said in regard to the NI hard border, rules are rules and must be obeyed (when it suits the EU).

Few will notice and it's racist to point it out, so don't worry be happy, everything will be just fine till it goes pop. Only thing is, some people believe it will never happen, ain't that right!

Well Dublin 3 was a real win for the EU and is working as planned, can't control the inflow we'll just ignore it and let the UK deal will the situation oh and there's legislation to ensure the EU doesn't have to take responsibility.

...and child immigrants joining family members in the UK? The Government removed the promise in December. Lord Dubs, a ww2 child migrant, wants the promise to allow them in put back as an amendment.

So what are the TD views on this?

My view is you sort the problem at root or do you believe we, and that includes the EU can just simply keep allowing more and more in? The world needs to address geopolitical issues, poverty and above all population growth. Your much vaunted EU has done fuk all to address this and the UKs misplaced DFID funding is farcical.

Everyone is running around clapping Greta on climate change and ignoring the population issue which is the root of most of the problem so whats your solution Troy? Take in a few children and hope more don't come.

^ My view on refugees is simple. Every country not at war has a duty to take them in. That includes those that arrive at the borders as well as those allocated by the UN.

Just think about how Lord Dubs arrived on UK soil and the reason.

I have always abhorred the clumping together of refugees, asylum seekers, and economic migrants as if they were all the same.

Germany has been obliged to accept migrants of any hue since 1945, in order to prevent any Aryan tendencies. Merkel was only too happy to do so recently, because of the alarmingly low birth rate. Her East German roots prevented her from fully grasping the true psyche of her fellow countrymen.

Are you saying that people in the former East Germany are more willing to take in refuges?
