are you voting on Thursday, Betty?
are you voting on Thursday, Betty?
No.
I was gonna go back to the UK and start my own business in March, but have decided I don't want to go back to the UK at all (I'll run my business from Asia, probably HK if things cool down, otherwise Singapore or maybe even Japan). If I'm not going back then I won't vote on other people's future...
Cycling should be banned!!!
what kind of business? coffee?
That is an excellent idea. Sadly, the business area is Neuromorphics.

Referring to BB's video post overleaf ...
I watched that and I find it difficult to disagree with much, if anything of what he said.
BB, BTW, do you know he passed a few weeks back?
^ thanks for your advice, Mr Sausage however I fear it's your brain that's struggling and in need of artificial support...
^^ yes, sad, but he has left a wealth of material behind.
Actually, it was sad to see how an intellect can be corrupted by a diminution in health but that, sadly, was the way James went.
His addiction to nicotine brought on his emphysema which limited the oxygen feeding his brain, evidently.
The culture of free movement prevailed for 45 years without any deleterious effect on the UK, a mere 4% of our entire population is from the EU, yet he seemed to imply it was a negative factor in Britain's development.
Addled but there it is.
The EU is not a political entity as he baldly claimed, it is a socio-economic-judicial association created by 28 member states choosing its composition democratically and one administered by an executive that is again created democratically by each member state delegating its authority.
Of course it is a bureaucracy, that is how modern democracy the fucking world over has functioned over 700 years since the Ottomans introduced and refined the model. Quite why he seemed to think a complex organisation could be operated otherwise is mystifying.
At best, James was never more than litterateur dilettante who made his name as a television critic before becoming a function of the medium that he criticised.
A political scientist he most certainly was not.
^ Kin hell i'm not sure where to start with that, right of from the self reflecting first sentence or the whole paragraphs that are out of kilter with the way the EU wants to and is evolving into a another centralised superstate.
the free movement of people only works between nations of equals, not with third world shitholes
the EU idea got corrupted to the core with the introduction of shit eastern European countries in the early 2000s
dealing with Romania, and Greece before that was already borderline, but the whole thing got corrupted with the eastern extension
at this stage, bringing Russia in would be the only redeeming value, since it's a great nation of wealth and culture like ours
priceless, Merkle has backed Yermany so far onto Russia's gas pipeline she can feel it in her oesophagus. The new EU Army they are going to form up after pulling out of Nato should cope well. I am surprised Macron is not on joint exercise with the Chinks and Ruskies in Zuid Afrika.
The EU Army is not about to materialize, it's Macron pipe dream, EU27 are all afraid of things going wrong if Americans would leave
Merkel doesn't want it, and the former eastern bloc doesn't either, they like too much the security of NATO
France should go alone and create their own NATO with Russia
Buttfly, although your offerings are barking they do worryingly for the EU27 probably chime close to the future reality. Just wonder who is going to unpick the EU mess when the central committee has fuk'd things up to the stage where grown up intervention is required. Mind you if Comrade Corbyn gets in we could see the same here.
So...many...BoJo...lies...
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...-simon-coveneyBrexit deal includes two-way customs checks, insists Ireland
Foreign minister challenges Johnson’s claim about goods moving from Northern Ireland to Britain
Simon Coveney, Ireland’s foreign minister, has challenged Boris Johnson’s claim that under his Brexit deal there would be no checks or controls on goods moving between Northern Ireland and Britain.
Coveney insisted that under the terms of the withdrawal agreement the prime minister negotiated with the European Union there would be inspections on goods moving in both directions.
“It was very clear when the deal was done,” he said in Brussels on Monday. “The EU has made it clear they want to minimise the impact on goods coming from Great Britain to Northern Ireland, but at the same time goods coming from Great Britain to Northern Ireland will need to have some checks to ensure that the EU knows what is potentially coming into their market through Northern Ireland.”
The comments contradicted Johnson’s claims, repeated last Sunday, that there would be no checks on goods moving from Northern Ireland to Great Britain.
Coveney’s tacit rebuke followed sharper censure on Monday from Arlene Foster, the Democratic Unionist party leader, who accused the prime minister of misrepresenting the Brexit deal and breaking his word to Northern Ireland.
Speaking to RTE, the Irish foreign minister said negotiators on both sides spent a lot of time nailing down details to leave no ambiguity.
“Goods going the other way from Northern Ireland into Great Britain will have far less requirement for checks at all. In fact, it will probably be limited to an export declaration, because, of course, that is a matter internally for the UK.
“So, there was always a distinction between goods coming from Great Britain into Northern Ireland versus goods going from Northern Ireland into Great Britain and we spent many hours discussing and negotiating that, and I think explaining it too.”
Coveney added that clinching a trade deal with the UK by the end of 2020 was a “tall order”.
Johnson, who was due on Wednesday to campaign in the Midlands and north-west England, has been accused of lying about the Brexit deal and the likelihood of securing a trade deal within a year.
A document leaked last week, written by officials in the government’s Brexit department, warned that Johnson’s stated goal of implementing his deal by the end of 2020 presented a major challenge because of the need to create new protocols and systems for business in Northern Ireland.
The document, obtained by the Financial Times, claimed that 98% of export businesses were “likely to struggle to bear the cost” of the extra paperwork, fuelling concerns of increased prices for consumers.
The government dismissed a similar document leaked to the Labour party on Friday as instant analysis done when Johnson brought home his Brexit deal in October.
what a surprise !!!
Brexit: Free trade deals 'won't offset leaving EU'
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-50719616
Post-Brexit trade deals will not make up for the economic damage inflicted on the UK from leaving the EU, analysis for BBC Newsnight has suggested.
Independent trade experts from the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO) looked at the likely impact of US, Australian and New Zealand free trade deals.
They found that even combined, new tariff-cutting agreements were likely to boost the UK economy by just 0.4%.
A simple free trade deal would also depress the economy UKTPO said.
The body said that moving from full EU membership to a simple deal with our closest trading partner - the objective enshrined in Boris Johnson's Withdrawal Agreement - would depress the size of the economy by at least 1.8%.
A Conservative spokesperson said: "The prime minister's fantastic deal makes clear that we will have a future relationship based on free trade and friendly cooperation. By striking trade deals around the world we will create exciting new opportunities for British businesses."
The Conservative manifesto claims free trade is the "best way" to increase exports, cut prices and increase investment.
The upshot from this analysis is that there is no realistic prospect of new trade deals with other countries, even the "ambitious" deals touted by ministers, offsetting the economic hit from Brexit itself.
Moving to an EU free trade deal and striking new free trade agreements with the US, Australia and New Zealand has an estimated negative impact on the UK economy of 1.4% in the UKTPO results - equivalent to £28bn, or £1,000 per household.
and more good news, hard Brexit is not off the table
Barnier says Brexit will not got done by 2021
The Independent is reporting that it has snagged a leaked recording of the EU's chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, saying that Brexit trade negotiations can't be finished within 11 months.
In the recording Mr Barnier tells a private meeting that the UK's 11-month timetable to wrap up trade talks by 2021 is "unrealistic" and suggests negotiations will drag on until long after the end of next year.
The Independent's Europe correspondent, Jon Stone, says the comments were made in a closed meeting of MEPs in Brussels this week.
Labour's Andrew Gwynne has responded by saying that Mr Johnson is "playing the British public for fools".
He says: "He’s hiding in fridges to dodge interviews precisely because his fake Brexit slogans can’t stand up to scrutiny, just like his empty words on the NHS."

Erm is it Sausages?
what happened to Corbyn? hopefully he is a gonner !!!
It's going to be interesting to read/listen to the comments that will be forthcoming from the EU27 leaders this morning.
One thing for sure, during the future negotiation period, no longer will they be able to rely on the UK Parliament stopping progression and attempting to scrutinise every step of the way. Those shameful days have gone.
I think everyone in the EU27 is happy to see Boris with his clear majority and support to get Brexit done
Brexit is the best gift you could give to the EU, and we can never thank you enough for it
Vive Boris, best PM ever !!!
^ yeah ok...

i can assure you that US corporate interests are salivating.
Reach we got KFC, you haven't sampled the delights of roast in a yorkie or deep fried mars- sturgeon can fuk her sen the uk will copyright and the skirts can fight it out with the EU over protected member rights
