in your haste for re-assuring yourself about the impossibility of Brexit, you must have missed this part:

"we would still need to solve the same problems after 31 October"

aka, financial EU obligations are still there and the future agreement will be as good as you got with Doris

Oct 31, you are not leaving, it's becoming that clear. Now, self-inflicted full EMBARGO is entirely possible, and that's hard as Brexit as you are going to get

here is the full story for our Brexit snowflakes friends

Brexit: Michel Barnier rejects demands for backstop to be axed
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49540681

The EU's lead Brexit negotiator has rejected Boris Johnson's demands for the Irish backstop to be scrapped.

Michel Barnier said the backstop - intended to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland - was the "maximum flexibility" the EU could offer.

Mr Johnson has previously told the EU the arrangement must be ditched if a no-deal Brexit was to be avoided.

Meanwhile, the PM has told rebel Tories they face a "fundamental choice" of siding with him or Jeremy Corbyn.

His comments come as some MPs who oppose a no-deal Brexit - including Conservatives - are planning to take action in Parliament next week.

Barnier is irrelevant, he like everyone else will do what Merkel tells him to as the EU negotiating position is whatever Merkel says it is. Only reason there wont be a no deal on Oct 31 is because in all likelihood legislation will be passed this week to stop it leading to a no confidence vote and a general election.

indeed, Barnier did his job, there is nothing much he can do now. Actually he didn't do what Merkel told him, she wanted to stall the whole thing until you surrendered. Barnier felt sorry for Doris, so he wrote up something for her after she begged him on her knees.

Anyway, either way, the conclusion is the same. Brexit is impossible. The UK will need to go completely rogue and put itself in a tangle of legal problems. Not sure if it's any better than Doris deal.

not sure, he could still survive it, but with this week-end massive demonstration against the propagation, he might have shot himself in the foot

if Boris was serious about doing a runner, he would do it now. Do you announce your future runner if you are going to have one for sure? of course not, you just prepare yourself and do it immediately

Boris could start a FULL EMBARGO next week to show he is serious, but he won't because he has no intentions to go HARD BREXIT

if we do have a GE, nothing will change really. The issue is divisive and impossible to resolve politically. Once everyone get tired of it, the next PM will have no choice but go for REVOKE or UNLIMITED extension

    Brexit was an impossible dream,

    Brexit was an impossible dream,
A GE will change everything although in what way we will have to wait and see. Boris gets a majority then finally game over for remainers as he will be able to do what he wants. Corbyn becomes PM and the UK becomes a third world country and I emigrate as soon as practically possible.

The GE will reflect a divided opinion, so hung parliament more likely, and PM chosen by the Queen alone like it happened before

    next stop: REVOKE

During negotiations, you can either start with everything and take bits away or start from nothing and add bits. The end result will be a compromise. The latter way is the most disruptive and more likely to increase the compromises. That is, benefits such as the rebate and opt outs may no longer be on the table.

But we have a fucked up first past the post voting system where you can end up with a 100+ seat majority while only getting circa 40% of the total vote. Individual seats can be won with 30% of the vote in some circumstances as no proportional representation. For example 4 candidates in a seat one gets 30% 2 get 25% of the vote and 1 20%, the dude with 30% gets the seat while the other 70% vote doesn't count.

Yes, Boris has played the terrible hand he was dealt as well as possible.

In a new GE, the Conservatives would get a majority with the remoaner Tories out, so Brexit would sail through.

    As for Labour, no chance...

the pipe dream of starting fresh would mean years, if not decade, to negotiate a deal, while keeping the current EU membership obligations. Not really a winning combination.

Article 50 provisions of a 2 year limit was a pipe dream in itself, and the Brexiters jumped on it like Nana whores on a fresh tourist

if the UK is not satisfied with the current EU membership and the new deal they got from Barnier, then severe all economic and political ties with the mainland, including ports, merchandises, immigration etc...

the UK military wouldn't accept that for security reasons alone, they rely on a lot of EU assets to operate, so technically will put the UK in full military jeopardy

Labour will need a change of leader if they wish to be successful in the next GE.

A forced GE that extends EU membership passed Oct31 could bring the Brexit Party back into play, splitting the Tory vote.

There are plenty of unknowns that can change the current poll predictions.

I agree with both of those points.

    But, Labour has nobody...

The Brexit Party and Tories do need to work together (or maybe just the Brexit Party don't contend the election if the Tories look strong).

    interesting times,
You have just been proved wrong about no deal, ignored that fact, and come up with more lies about UK leaving. After 31 October, the EU qill be obliged to start negotiating seriously, if they want any kind of deal with UK.

The Barnier negotiated deal was a prison sentence, tying the UK to europe in perpetuity.

As far as military is concerned, the UK will continue to assist the French with the logistic support that the French have always lacked. Because that is what normal countries do. You and your pal Macaroon can be as spiteful as you want. The real leaders will just get on with mutual support.

Interesting, and slightly worrying times for you perhaps. For the UK it will be carry on as normal and ignore the self interest of French politicians.
